Brandon Lowe Tops Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitter List to Start Week

Should You Add Brandon Lowe?

Lowe is up another 9.02% today, bringing his overall mark to 52.93% overall.

As most waiver hitters, Lowe is on the rise because of a hot stretch at the plate. Over his past 12 games and 48 plate appearances, Lowe has a .386 average and .438 on-base percentage.

He has 17 hits, including five homers and three doubles. Lowe has 11 RBIs, a stolen base, 11 runs scored, four walks and nine strikeouts in that span as well.

Over 48 games and 196 total plate appearances, Lowe's numbers aren't nearly as good. He has a .238 average and .291 OBP, along with 29 RBIs, two stolen bases, 24 runs scored, 14 walks and 51 strikeouts. Lowe has 10 homers and four doubles among his 43 total knocks.

He's a career .245 hitter with a .327 OBP, so his recent hot stretch has helped him climb closer to those marks. Lowe won't stay this hot all season, but he should average closer to his career marks than the ones he was producing before this hot stretch.

The second baseman (and possible first baseman) bats third and plays second base every game for the Blue Jays. That's a favorable fantasy spot to be in, even if Toronto isn't the best lineup to hit in.

Lowe should be rostered in all deeper fantasy leagues after his hot stretch, and he'll remain at least a decent deep-league asset all season. He could be streamed in standard leagues for as long as he's hot at the plate, but he'll top out as a deep-league far more often than not. You might as well take advantage of things while you can though.

Should You Add Chase Meidroth?

Meidroth is up 6.69% and is up to 49.47% overall now.

He is on a 12-game hitting streak, with 19 knocks over that span. Meidroth has a homer and three doubles for extra-base knocks among those hits, along with three RBIs, five stolen bases, seven runs scored, five walks and just six strikeouts over that span.

His first 30 games and 119 plate appearances in the big leagues have produced big results. Meidroth has a .305 average and .387 OBP. He also has four doubles and a homer among his 32 total hits, along with five RBIs, eight stolen bases, 16 runs scored, 14 walks and 16 strikeouts.

He doesn't hit for much power, and he doesn't drive in many runs, but he adds enough stolen bases and other numbers to be a really solid fantasy asset still. Meidroth bats leadoff and plays shortstop most days (he also plays second base).

Hitting inside the White Sox lineup isn't good for his fantasy outlook, but he can still produce plenty from the leadoff spot. His possible dual-position eligibility is a nice bonus for his fantasy value.

He deserves to be rostered in deeper redraft leagues, maybe not all of them, but just about each one. Meidroth could be utilized in standard leagues as well, but you need to make sure there isn't a better option available to you. His lack of power really limits his fantasy ceiling, but utilizing him for short spurts in standard leagues isn't the worst idea.

Should You Add Gavin Sheets?

Sheets is up 6.17% today - he's rostered in 33.51% of leagues overall.

Over 48 games and 171 plate appearances so far, Sheets has a .283 average and .327 OBP, which are both solid marks. He has seven doubles and 10 homers among his 45 total hits, along with 31 RBIs, a stolen bases, 21 runs scored, nine walks and 44 strikeouts.

He's got good season-long numbers, but he's been even better in May. Across 20 games and 77 plate appearances, Sheets has a .307 average and .325 OBP. He's got 19 RBIs, 11 runs scored, a walk and 19 strikeouts. Sheets has seven homers and three doubles among his 23 total knocks this month.

Sheets has played first base and left field at times this season, but is most often a designated hitter. Him being eligible at first base and left field (outfield) makes Sheets a decent fantasy asset. If he's limited to just a utility spot, or DH, then his value sinks quite a bit.

He's starting every game though, and hitting fifth or sixth for a pretty stacked Padres' lineup. That puts Sheets in a good fantasy spot, and he's delivered in his playing time this season.

Sheets deserves to be rostered in more deeper redraft leagues, even if it's until he cools off at the plate. He's likely never going to climb into standard league territory, but a power surge or super hot week at the plate could get him there.

Should You Add Brett Baty?

Baty was added in 6.03% of leagues and is up to 19.95% overall.

Baty had seven hits over a three-game stretch from May 21-24 before going hitless on Sunday. He has 14 hits across 16 May games and 48 plate appearances.

For the season, Baty has gotten 106 plate appearances over 35 games. He has a .250 average and .286 OBP, along with 17 RBIs, two stolen bases, 10 runs scored, five walks and 29 strikeouts. Baty has six homers, a triple, four doubles and 25 total knocks.

He's played second and third base, so dual-position eligibility is good for his fantasy value. Baty is batting eighth or ninth, and has started each of the past five games for the Mets. The spot in the order isn't very favorable, but the Mets are a good offense most days, so that works in his favor.

If you have a need for an extra infielder, or simply need some depth in a bit deeper league, I wouldn't mind adding Baty. I think he's a bit overvalued because he plays for the Mets, but there's enough in his numbers of late to justify picking him up and starting him in some deeper leagues for now.

Should You Add Ryan O'Hearn?

O'Hearn is rostered in 40.85% of leagues after a 5.41% increase today.

He posted three hits in his last appearance, and has 12 knocks over his past five games and 24 plate appearances. O'Hearn has two doubles and a homer among his hits in that span, along with four RBIs, a stolen base, three runs scored, two walks and just one strikeout.

His season-long numbers are really good too. O'Hearn is batting .329 and getting on base at a .419 clip over 43 games and 172 plate appearances. He has eight homers and seven doubles among his 49 total knocks, along with 18 RBIs, two stolen bases, 21 runs scored, 20 walks and 28 strikeouts.

I always think O'Hearn is pretty undervalued in fantasy leagues, and the same thing is happening again in 2025. He's hit between third-fifth over his past several starts, which is a great thing for his fantasy outlook, even if the Orioles have underwhelmed as an offense in 2025.

O'Hearn is a touch limited because he doesn't start against many left-handed pitchers, but he definitely deserves to be rostered in more deeper fantasy setups right now. Look into your team and see if O'Hearn is a better option.
