Jordan Lawlar Among Top-100 Prospects Shining Early On

The MLB regular season is a long one, and there's a ton of transactions on a daily basis to get teams through a 162-game grind.

One injury could thrust a minor league player into a big role in the big leagues, so it's always fun to keep an eye on prospects. In this story, we'll look at stats from top-100 prospects to see who is excelling early in the season. Hit Leaders

Athletics' Nick Kurtz has 14 hits early in the season, which is the top mark among top-100 prospects. He's got four doubles and homers among his knocks, along with 12 RBIs, three walks, eight runs scored and seven strikeouts.

He's the top prospect for the team and has a 2026 ETA, but already playing in Triple-A and having as much success as he is, I think the fourth overall pick from the 2024 MLB Draft could debut at some point in 2025.

Boston's Kristian Campbell, Chicago White Sox' Edgar Quero and LA Dodgers' Alex Freeland all have 11 hits so far.

Of course, Campbell is doing his damage at the MLB level, which is really good to see - it helped him earn a long-term extension. He's got four doubles and two homers among his 38 plate appearances so far. Campbell also has five RBIs, seven walks and strikeouts, a stolen base and 10 runs scored.

Campbell looks like a fantasy star for years to come, and should already be rostered and utilized in every fantasy league setup.

Quero has a double and a homer among his 11 knocks at Triple-A. He's also got seven walks, two RBIs, eight runs scored and nine strikeouts so far.

He's the team's No. 6 prospect and has a 2025 ETA. With the White Sox' struggles, Quero could get the call at any point, so keep close tabs on him.

Freeland has two doubles among his hits so far. He also has seven RBIs, six walks, three stolen bases, five runs scored and 11 strikeouts across his first 44 plate appearances at AAA this season.

The shortstop is the team's No. 5 prospect and has a 2025 ETA. It might be hard for Freeland to get called up without a big injury because of all the talent LA has already. That could mean Freeland is used in a trade to add a top-end player at the trade deadline, and I believe he'll debut at some point in 2025.

Arizona's Jordan Lawlar and Philadelphia's Justin Crawford are at 10 hits each.

Lawlar has three doubles among his knocks, along with seven RBIs, five walks, four stolen bases, nine runs scored and 10 strikeouts. He's the team's No. 1 prospect and should get a call up here soon, but it might take an injury to make that happen.

Crawford has two triples among his hits, along with four RBIs, two walks, four stolen bases, five runs scored and just three punchouts. 

He's the team's No. 3 prospect and has a 2026 ETA, but I think he's got a chance at debuting in 2025, especially if he keeps excelling in AAA.

High Averages/OBPs

Cleveland's Travis Bazzana has a .538 average across 15 Double-A plate appearances so far. Kansas City's Carter Jensen is at a .467 average over 17 plate appearances in AA. 

Bazzana has a double and a homer among his seven hits, two walks and stolen bases, three RBIs, five runs scored and four strikeouts.

Bazzana is the No. 1 prospect for his team and has a 2025 ETA despite being drafted last season (he was the top pick). He's one to track more, probably starting around the middle of the season.

Jensen has seven singles for all his hits, along with one RBI, two walks, four runs scored and seven punchouts.

He's the team's No. 3 prospect and has a 2026 ETA. That seems like a good estimate given he's in Double-A right now and the team's situation at catcher right now.

Seattle's Lazaro Montes has a .692 OBP across 13 plate appearances at High-A. Boston's Franklin Arias has a .643 OBP over 14 plate appearances in A-ball. Detroit's Max Clark has a .625 OBP over his first 16 plate appearances at High-A. 

Montes has three hits (including a triple and homer) and five walks so far. He also has two RBIs, a stolen base, four runs scored and two punchouts. Montes is the team's No. 2 prospect and has a 2026 ETA - he's got a ways to go, but could rise quickly if he keeps producing.

Arias has seven hits, including two doubles, a walk, a stolen base, two RBIs, five runs scored and just one strikeout so far. The team's No. 4 prospect has a 2027 ETA, but that could change if he keeps delivering at the minor league level.

Clark has four hits (including a homer) and six walks already. He also has five RBIs, four runs scored and three strikeouts. Clark is the Tigers' No. 2 prospect and he has a 2027 ETA but he could become a quick riser and make it there sooner, especially if he keeps producing like he has been early on.

High OPS

Cincinnati's Sal Stewart has a 1.434 OPS so far, trailing only Montes and Bazzana in the early going.

Stewart has four hits, including one double and home run, along with two walks, an RBI, four runs scored, two stolen bases and three strikeouts. He's the team's No. 3 prospect and has a 2026 ETA - Stewart is in Double-A now and maybe has an outside chance of making the big leagues at the end of this season if he keeps producing and the team sells off some MLB talent.

LA Dodgers' Zyhir Hope has a 1.361 OPS so far. He's got a homer among his four hits, three RBIs, three walks and stolen bases, a run scored and just two strikeouts across 13 plate appearances. Hope is the team's No. 7 prospect and has a 2027 ETA, and he'll have to keep delivering big numbers to crack a loaded lineup before that.
