Graham Ashcraft Landed on 60-Day IL with UCL Sprain, Rendering Him a Fantasy Drop

Graham Ashcraft has been placed on the 60-day injured list with a right forearm UCL sprain, a devastating blow to the Cincinnati bullpen. Before the injury, he was finding success in a late-inning high-leverage role, even picking up a save in his recent appearances. The fifth-place Reds, currently sitting at 31-30, will now have to navigate their divisional matchups without the right-hander.

Prior to his injury, Ashcraft had maintained a 3.61 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 26 relief appearances this season. Our models projected him to settle in with a 4.22 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 64.0 innings of work. Given the severity of a UCL sprain, any hope of him returning soon to stabilize fantasy pitching ratios is gone.

Cincinnati has a weekend series scheduled against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals, but Ashcraft faces a very long road to recovery. With the righty sidelined for at least two months and potentially facing surgery, fantasy managers should immediately look elsewhere for bullpen help. Weekly Verdict: Drop.
