Fantasy Football Injury News: Samuel, Montgomery, Henderson, and More
Another NFL week brought a lengthy list of injuries. Let's examine the latest concerns and the players who could benefit from additional opportunities.
Week 5 in the NFL was another one littered with injuries. Here, let's take a look at some of the more notable players who got injured, with a focus on fantasy football.
After each injury listed, we'll go over the fantasy football implications of each ailment.

Wide Receiver Injuries
San Francisco's Deebo Samuel Sr. left the team's win over the Seahawks with a hamstring injury.

He has dealt with numerous injuries over his career, so we'll see the extent of this injury in the days to come. Even if he doesn't miss time, his fantasy outlook will be hampered in the next couple of games with this ailment in the back of our minds.
Pittsburgh saw Roman Wilson (finger) and Ben Skowronek (calf) leave with injuries in the team's win over the Colts.
Michael Pittman Jr. is another Steelers' wideout already dealing with an injury, so these two WR injuries are notable. DK Metcalf would be in a very good fantasy setup if Wilson and/or Skowronek are out alongside Pittman. Germie Bernard and Brandon Smith are other wideouts who played on Sunday who could also take on larger roles at wideout.
LA Chargers receiver Tre' Harris left with a hamstring injury in the team's loss to Denver.
Ladd McConkey is already banged up at receiver, so the Chargers could be hurting if those guys are out for the foreseeable future. Marquez Valdes-Scantling ended up leading the team's wideouts in snaps played this week. Theo Wease and Derius Davis are other wideouts who played. More could be put on the tight ends (Charlie Kolar, Oronde Gadsden II and Hayden Rucci) if the wideout room is down a couple of its best options.
Cleveland's KC Concepcion left with a bad-looking head injury. His status is certainly up in the air for next week, and his long-term outlook is murky, at best.
If he is out for a bit, more could be placed on the plates of wideouts Denzel Boston, Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond and Malachi Corley and tight ends Harold Fannin and Blake Whiteheart.
Running Back Injuries
New England's TreVeyon Henderson left Sunday's win over Las Vegas with an ankle injury.
He's already missed a game earlier this season, so we'll see what his latest ailment does to his availability. If he cannot go moving forward, Rhamondre Stevenson will power the backfield. Corey Kiner could be the top backup and get a little work too.
Houston's David Montgomery left and didn't return due to a groin injury.
Woody Marks dominated the backfield for the Texans on Sunday, so his outlook would be pretty strong if Montgomery were to miss additional time. Dare Ogunbowale might be next in line for snaps/touches out of the Houston backfield.
Philly's Will Shipley left with a foot injury. The Eagles were already down Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby, so that RB room is extremely thin right now.
Dameon Pierce led the backfield on Sunday, so he's a name to keep in mind if the top-three backs are all out moving forward. The Eagles might need to bring in additional RBs too, as no other backs got any offensive snaps on Sunday.
Tight End Injuries
There were two tight ends knocked out of games on Sunday, and they were both dealing with concussions.
Minnesota's T.J. Hockenson left his team's win, while New York Jets' Kenyon Sadiq left his team's win.
Hockenson got knocked out of the game after just two offensive snaps. Gavin Bartholomew and Ben Yurosek almost split the snaps, playing 44 and 39, respectively. Neither is a big fantasy asset, but more could be on the plates of Aaron Jones Sr., Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison and more if Hockenson misses additional time.
Sadiq played 13 snaps, so he was knocked out pretty early too. Mason Taylor led the team's other TEs with 41 snaps played, while Jelani Woods played 25 and Jeremy Ruckert was in for 23 plays.
Taylor would have a little fantasy intrigue if Sadiq misses additional time, but he'd only likely be a deep-league fantasy asset. Again, more would be placed on the RBs and WRs if Sadiq is forced to sit moving forward.
Quarterback Injuries
There was only one injury reported at the quarterback position. Atlanta's Michael Penix Jr. left the team's overtime loss late with an injury to his ribs.
The QB said he doesn't believe it will be a long-term injury, but after dealing with an injury to start the season, it's something to monitor, at least.
If Penix cannot go in the team's next game, it would likely be Tua Tagovailoa who gets another start.
Defensive Player Injuries
Chicago linebacker T.J. Edwards left with a hamstring injury. The Bears' defense was torched on Sunday, so losing a top linebacker like Edwards would hurt the unit even more moving forward.
Denver safety Talanoa Hufanga left with an ankle injury. He is another notable defensive player, and his absence would hurt the team's defense.
Green Bay d-lineman Javon Hargrave left with an Achilles injury, and the believed tear would keep him out the rest of the season. After losing Edgerrin Cooper and still being without Micah Parsons, the Packers' defense is missing several notable assets now.
Houston safety Jalen Pitre has a shoulder injury he's dealing with. That would be a notable injury to what's been a good defense over the past few years, so it could impact how the unit performs moving forward if he misses time.
