6 Fantasy Football Wide Receivers to Add Before Week 2: Coker, Vele, and More

There's still one NFL regular season game to go in Week 1, but we're going to get a jumpstart on waiver wire options for Week 2. Here, we'll look at some wide receiver options!

Jalen Coker - Carolina Panthers

Coker was rostered in about 70% of fantasy football leagues before the Panthers' first game. After a standout performance (he's got the top fantasy WR showing so far), he could be at 100% going into Week 2.

Coker was targeted nine times in the team's lopsided loss to Carolina. He made eight grabs for 138 yards and two touchdowns.

Coker has shown a little promise across his first two NFL seasons, but after playing in 11 games in both years, he's failed to emerge as a huge fantasy asset. The Panthers need more pass catchers to step up, and he took a big step forward in possibly doing just that on Sunday.

Tetairoa McMillan is going to be the top pass catcher for the Panthers this season, but even as WR2, Coker could be a pretty good fantasy asset. Don't expect him to deliver like he did in Week 1 every game, but he's worth adding and stashing just in case he breaks out in 2026.

Devaughn Vele - New Orleans Saints

Vele was only rostered in 22% of leagues when he played his first game.

He was great in a loss to the Lions, catching seven of his nine targets for 69 yards and a touchdown. 

Vele is in his second season with the Saints. He's only played in 13 games in each of his first two NFL seasons, and he too has flashed a little promise.

New Orleans has Chris Olave as the top pass catcher, but with rookie Jordyn Tyson out with an injury early, Vele has the chance to play and produce more. He should be added in a bunch of leagues heading into Week 2, but when the Saints are at full strength, he might be a better deep-league option.

Deebo Samuel Sr. - San Francisco 49ers

He was owned in about 75% of fantasy leagues when the Niners season kicked off on Thursday.

Samuel looked like his old self against the Rams, catching six of his seven targets for 48 yards and a touchdown, plus rushing for a 12-yard gain.

San Fran has Mike Evans, but with rookie De'Zhaun Stribling getting injured in the opener and being likely to miss extended time, Samuel could be pretty heavily involved this season. I see him as a flex-level option most weeks.

So Samuel should jump to 100%, or close to it, before Week 2 kicks off. Consider adding the veteran wideout, especially if you could use some WR help after the opening games.

Antonio Williams - Washington Commanders

Williams was barely owned in any redraft leagues when Week 1 kicked off. The rookie was a better dynasty asset.

The 2026 third-round pick caught all four of his targets for 64 yards and a touchdown. 

Washington has Terry McLaurin and Stefon Diggs, but it was Williams who was the top pass catcher on Sunday. I'd pump the brakes with the rookie, expecting the veteran wideouts to lead the way most weeks, but I'd still be happy to add Williams in a bunch of leagues.

I like adding Williams best in deeper leagues heading into Week 2. If he delivers again in his next outing, or more down the line, then that's when I'd consider adding him in some standard leagues.

Dontayvion Wicks - Philadelphia Eagles

Wicks sat at just 19% rostered when his team opened the season.

In his first game with his new team, Wicks was targeted four times. He made the most of his two catches, going for 73 yards and a touchdown - the TD came on a 9-yard pass.

Wicks was kind of forgotten after being traded to Philly from Green Bay this past offseason. With DeVonta Smith, rookie Makai Lemon and tight end Dallas Goedert around, Wicks didn't have great fantasy appeal, but that perception might have changed after one game.

Wicks was the second-most productive pass catcher for Philly in the opener, and there's a chance he keeps delivering if he's playing 91% of the team's offensive snaps, like he did this week. I like adding Wicks in deeper leagues for now, but more production down the line could get him into standard leagues too.

Caleb Douglas - Miami Dolphins

Douglas was rostered in about 21% of leagues when the season kicked off. He gained some fantasy attention in the final days leading up to the season, and then delivered big in Week 1.

The 2026 third-round pick was targeted seven times in the opener, making five grabs for 94 yards.

Miami is searching for pass catchers, so Douglas got off to a great start. He was easily the team's top pass catcher in a multi-score loss to Las Vegas. Miami might not be very good in 2026, but that doesn't mean Douglas couldn't be a pretty solid fantasy option.

I like adding him in all deeper leagues heading into Week 2. He's my favorite deep-league option that we've discussed here today, and that means you need to keep close tabs on him and be ready to add Douglas if he keeps delivering in future games.
