Draft Stock Plummet Reflects Dwindling Fantasy Appeal for Backup Slot Receiver

DeMario Douglas enters the year in a precarious fantasy position, sliding down the depth chart in New England. He is currently positioned as the backup slot receiver behind Romeo Doubs. After a promising sophomore campaign in 2024 where he caught 67 passes, Douglas saw his involvement cut in half in 2025, hauling in just 32 receptions.

The fantasy community has taken notice of this dwindling role, causing his draft stock to plummet. In early June, Douglas was being selected near pick 186, but his ADP has since crashed down to pick 302 in standard 1.0 PPR formats. This market decline aligns with our models, which project a modest 19 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns.

Currently rostered in just seven percent of leagues, fantasy managers are largely avoiding the New England receiver. With Drake Maye distributing targets to a revamped receiving corps featuring A.J. Brown, Douglas is firmly off the redraft radar. He remains a bench stash only in deep PPR formats where managers hope he can claw back his previous target volume.
