Week 16 Saturday Fantasy Football Outlook for the Eagles: Dallas Goedert, DeVonta Smith, Saquon Barkley and More
Looking over the top fantasy football options for Philadelphia heading into the week 16 Saturday game against Washington.
Let's continue our look at fantasy football players playing on Saturday by going over the Eagles. We just took a look at the Commanders.
Again, not many Philly players are part of trending decisions on our start/sit tool, so I'll instead break down the team as a whole, like we did for the Commanders' article.
Check back later for stories on the Bears and Packers, who face off in the second game on Saturday.
Having trouble deciding who to start? Let the FantasySP start/sit tool help you make a decision.
Jalen Hurts Fantasy Outlook
Hurts has been up and down as a fantasy QB over the past several weeks.
He was terrible in week 14, turning the ball over five times in a game against the Chargers. Hurts was much better in week 15 against the Raiders, throwing for three scores and having over 200 passing and rushing yards combined.
Luckily, he has another favorable matchup in week 16 against the Commanders, so Hurts should be started confidently this week, and that goes for all leagues.
I actually have Hurts as my top fantasy quarterback for week 16, so there's nobody I like more than him. Coming off a big showing and going into a great matchup, I think Hurts could deliver big for fantasy owners this week.
Don't overthink things - get Hurts in those week 16 starting lineups!
Running Back Fantasy Outlooks
Saquon Barkley was banged up in week 15, but he practiced in full on Wednesday and Thursday and will play on Saturday.
He too will have a favorable matchup in this contest. I ranked him as RB5 going into week 16, so he's another must-start fantasy player from the Eagles.
Barkley has underwhelmed after being a top-end fantasy pick this season, but he's been good over the past two weeks and has the chance to deliver one of his best fantasy outings of the season on Saturday, as long as the game stays close.
Start Barkley with confidence this week.
With a good matchup ahead, being on a bit of a short week and already having Barkley dealing with an injury, backup running back Tank Bigsby has a little standalone value for week 16.
I didn't rank him in my top 30, or would consider him in any standard leagues, but I do think he could be a sneaky good option in deeper leagues. If you are scrambling for RB help in deeper leagues, why not take a gamble on Bigsby?
Wide Receiver Fantasy Outlooks
A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are the top wide receivers for the Eagles, and really are the only viable fantasy options too.
Jahan Dotson is WR3, but rarely contributes. Darius Cooper and Britain Covey also played in week 15, but probably got more snaps than usual with Philly rolling to a win.
Brown has turned things on down the stretch for the Eagles. He has scored in double figures as a PPR asset in five straight games. Brown has four touchdowns over that span, and three games at or over 100 receiving yards.
He is clearly the team's top receiver again, and he's the most trustworthy fantasy pass catcher on the team.
As Brown has heated up, Smith's production has dipped. He doesn't have a double-digit PPR performance since week 12. Smith only has 11 catches over the three games since, and hasn't gone over 50 yards in any of those contests.
The wideouts in Philly have another nice matchup against Washington - it's a top-10 matchup.
With his recent numbers and heading into a nice matchup, I gave Brown my No. 7 ranking for wide receivers in week 16. Even with his struggles of late, I decided to give Smith my No. 24 spot.
So Brown is a good starting option in all leagues for week 16. Smith is a flex-level option in standard leagues, while being a good option in deeper leagues.
Even in the good matchup, I'd avoid all the other Philly wide receivers this week. I'd rank them as follows: Dotson, Cooper and Covey. Dotson and Cooper are the only ones worth considering in really deep leagues, and they are desperation plays in a good matchup.
Tight End Fantasy Outlooks
The reason the Eagles can get by with just two wide receivers is because they have Dallas Goedert at tight end.
He has been good over the past two games, tallying 70 yards and two scores over six receptions and seven targets last week, while having 78 yards on eight grabs and 10 targets in the week before that.
Goedert also has a great fantasy matchup this week, so he has a good fantasy outlook. He got my No. 4 tight end ranking as a result.
There's a chance he pushes for the top fantasy pass catcher score in Philly this week, so Goedert is a must-start fantasy asset in my eyes. If he's not the top guy, Brown likely would be, and then Goedert would be the second-best option, like he has been over Smith these past several weeks.
I can't see many instances in which I'd recommend benching Goedert this week. At the very least, he should be starting in a flex spot (if your top tight end is also a must-start guy).
Kicker Fantasy Outlook
Jake Elliott still does the kicking for the Eagles. He is projected for seven fantasy points on Saturday.
He is starting in 36% of fantasy leagues, so he's a pretty solid option, but not a must-start kicker in most fantasy owner's eyes.
Elliott is just 17-for-22 on his field goal attempts this season. Three of those misses have come from over 50 yards. Elliott is 35-of-36 on his extra points.
In a game with an over/under of 44.5 points, and with the Eagles favored by 6.5 points, I'm a bit surprised that Elliott isn't starting in more fantasy leagues. I think Philly will score plenty of points in this one, but with the offense's inconsistency, it might leave a couple field goal tries for Elliott.
I think he could put together a really nice fantasy showing, so I'd be happy to start him in more fantasy leagues this week. He definitely should be starting in deeper leagues, and I think he's a good option in standard leagues too.
DST Fantasy Outlook
The Eagles DST has a pretty favorable outlook against the Commanders, who are obviously a worse offense without Jayden Daniels out there.
They are projected for one of the top DST fantasy scores of the week. Starting in 81% of leagues, most fantasy owners are happy to fire them up for week 16.
Philly's defense is allowing 19.4 points per game this season, which is the fifth-best mark in the NFL. The defense has 17 takeaways, including 10 over the past six contests. The defense also has 35 sacks.
Philly will be without Jalen Carter, but I still see the defense shutting down Washington's offense, and causing a couple turnovers. Start the Eagles DST in all league types this week, and do it with confidence.
Trending Decisions
Goedert is the only Eagle in a trending start/sit decision at the time of publication. He's up against Las Vegas' Brock Bowers.
Fantasy owners are taking Bowers over Goedert, but also starting both tight ends in 43% of leagues.
I have Bowers ranked third, one spot ahead of Goedert, so I too am taking the Vegas tight end, even though he has a tougher matchup against Houston. I'd do my best to get both of those tight ends in my fantasy starting lineups though.
