Fantasy Football Week 10 Start Decisions Involving Raiders: Tre Tucker, Ashton Jeanty and More
Looking over some fantasy football start/sit decisions involving Raiders' players.
Week 10 of the NFL regular season opens tonight with a game between the Las Vegas Raiders and Denver Broncos. Let's go over some trending start/sit decisions involving players from both teams.
We will start with the Raiders. Check back in a bit for a story on the Broncos.
Having trouble deciding who to start? Let the FantasySP start/sit tool help you make a decision.
Tre Tucker Start Decisions
Tucker is the new top receiver for the Raiders after the team traded Jakobi Meyers to the Jaguars at the trade deadline.
Funnily enough, Tucker was already the team's top fantasy pass catcher. A lot of that came from a standout performance in week 3.
He's more been a complimentary offensive weapon for the Raiders since, and now with tight end Brock Bowers back in the mix, Tucker isn't likely to lead the team most weeks.
I don't even have Tucker in my top-30 fantasy wide receiver rankings for week 10. A brutal matchup against the Denver defense is why I'd be skeptical of playing Tucker, even with him being the top wideout for the team.
Tucker is part of a trending start/sit decision with New York Giants' Darius Slayton. It's more of a deep-league decision, and it's a close one. Fantasy owners are torn on who to start as of the time this article was published.
Slayton is projected for nine PPR fantasy points in week 10, while Tucker is at 8.86. I prefer Tucker over Slayton, for the simple fact that Tucker could be the Raiders' top receiver, while Slayton is behind Wan'Dale Robinson on the Giants. Slayton's super favorable matchup against the Bears makes this a truly tight decision, and one which is more of a coin flip to me.
I'd choose Tucker if I was forced into a decision, but either guy is an OK option in deeper leagues for week 10.
Tucker's other start/sit decision is against Rashid Shaheed, who was traded from the Saints to the Seahawks this week.
He was behind Chris Olave in New Orleans, and now has to contend with Jaxon Smith-Njigba in Seattle. The Seahawks also have Cooper Kupp and Tory Horton, so while Shaheed joined a better team, it might be harder for him to consistently deliver with more offensive weapons around him.
Shaheed is owned in nearly 40% more leagues, so it's surprising to see these two in a trending decision together. It just shows you what fantasy owners think of Shaheed's new team and situation.
Fantasy owners actually prefer Tucker over Shaheed, and while it's close again, I agree with them. I didn't rank Shaheed in my top-30 wideouts either. He is projected for 8.5 PPR points, so a bit less than Tucker.
I like Tucker's fantasy outlook just a touch more, even in the tougher matchup. Shaheed's matchup against the Cardinals is closer to average, but while it's a better matchup, I still prefer the situation for Tucker more.
Ashton Jeanty Start Decisions
Jeanty has been the workhorse back for the Raiders all season, but he hasn't taken off like most fantasy owners expected. That's a product of being part of a bad team and offense, I think.
He's been an average-or-better fantasy back in four of his last five games, and is coming off his second-best fantasy performance of the year. On volume alone, he's usually delivering solid fantasy results, although finding the end zone is helping his cause plenty.
The chances of him scoring improved after the Meyers' trade. He still has to contend with Bowers, but because he's a running back, I see Jeanty remaining a pretty good weekly fantasy option the rest of the season, even if the Raiders' offense regresses.
He too has a tough matchup against the Denver defense. In my week 10 PPR rankings, I have Jeanty ranked 14th. I'd have been higher on him if not for the tough matchup.
Again, on volume alone, Jeanty should end up with at least a solid fantasy score. You likely aren't sitting him unless you are absolutely stacked at running back, but he's still part of a few trending decisions.
One trending decision is against Denver's J.K. Dobbins, who we will discuss more at length in the Broncos' trending decision story to come. I have Dobbins ranked 17th this week, so I prefer Jeanty over Dobbins.
Fantasy owners are in agreement, but are starting both running backs nearly 70% of the time. Both are worth starting in most standard leagues, and definitely in deeper leagues.
Jeanty is projected for 15.2 PPR points, while Dobbins is at 12.44. Dobbins' matchup against the Raiders is just above average, so even with RJ Harvey factoring in more lately, I like starting him in this matchup.
Jeanty is up against Warren in another trending decision. I have Warren ranked 15th, so a spot behind Jeanty.
Fantasy owners also like Jeanty over Warren, but are starting both guys 81% of the time. Again, both are worth starting in most standard formats, and definitely in deeper setups.
Warren is projected for 15.02 PPR fantasy points, so just 0.18 less than Jeanty. His matchup against the Chargers is just below average. I just like Jeanty being a bigger part of the Raiders' offense, so that's why he gets the ever-so-slight edge.
Other Raiders
No other Las Vegas players are part of the start/sit trending decisions at the time of publication. That could change over the course of the day, so be sure to use the tool, our ranking stories and more tools to help make your week 10 lineup decisions.
Quarterback Geno Smith is coming off a big game, but I have him ranked 26th among fantasy quarterbacks for week 10. He has a tough matchup against the Broncos, so I'm skeptical of playing him.
Remember that four teams are on byes this week, so he only ranks above two quarterbacks, Dillon Gabriel and Tyler Shough, for me. Avoid Smith if you can, and definitely only consider him in really deep leagues.
No other Vegas' backs joined Jeanty on the top-30 running back list for week 10. That shouldn't be surprising, as Jeanty has been the workhorse, and should be again tonight, even on a short week.
Tucker didn't make the top-30 wide receiver list, and neither did any Raiders' receivers. The matchup is tough, and really only Tucker has proven himself a bit.
It'll be worth watching this game and the stats to see which wide receivers step up after the trade of Meyers. Keep an eye on rookie Dont'e Thornton and Jack Bech. Tyler Lockett could also get involved, while Alex Bachman is another wideout on the active roster right now.
The team's top pass catcher should be Bowers, who ranks second for me this week. He returned from his injury in week 9 and immediately got back to dominating.
He has a tough matchup ahead, but that's not going to stop me from starting him and expecting a monster fantasy showing out of him.
Outside Bowers and Jeanty, there's no other Raiders I'd want to start in a standard fantasy league. Tucker would get some deep-league consideration, and be the last Raider I'd consider starting in week 10.
Smith is a QB I'd like to avoid, and no other running back, wide receiver or tight end is worth a start outside the deepest possible leagues. We'll see who steps up for the Raiders tonight.
I'm not a fan of kicker Daniel Carlson tonight, and the Raiders DST is one I'd like to skip as well. Carlson is projected for seven fantasy points, while the DST is set at just five points.
