Looking over some fantasy football waiver wire targets at tight end going into week 5.
We just went over fantasy football waiver wire options at quarterback, and now will go over some options at tight end.

Should You Add Dallas Goedert?
Goedert has been unimpressivly impressive, if that makes sense.
He has no more than 45 yards in any of his three games played through week 4. Goedert has caught five passes over the past two contests, but three have ended in touchdowns.
That kind of fantasy production can be hard to trust, but at a weaker fantasy position, you should believe in a guy like Goedert more. There's room for him to succeed in the Eagles' offense, and I'm honestly surprised he's available in as many leagues as he is.
He'd be my top priority going into week 5. Goedert will face the Broncos, who are a bit tougher matchup on tight ends.
Should You Add Kyle Pitts Sr.?
Pitts is another one who is owned in a bunch of leagues already, and is more trustworthy than some of the other names we'll discuss today.
He went for 70 yards and a score on five receptions and targets on Sunday. That was his best showing of the season, and first score as well.
Pitts has at least four receptions and five targets in each game, which are solid marks for the TE spot. He'd only been above 40 yards once in the first three weeks, so that's where his inconsistency lies, but at a position lacking bodies, adding Pitts now makes a ton of sense.
Unfortunately, he doesn't play in week 5, so you'll need to stream/add someone else if you are looking for help this coming week. If you are looking for a more permanent option at TE, then stashing Pitts for a week makes sense to me.
Should You Add Tommy Tremble or Mitchell Evans?
Tremble and Evans were two of the top fantasy tight ends in week 4. Both scored a touchdown to mask otherwise so-so numbers. Tremble played 75% of the team's offensive snaps, while Evans was at 54%.
Tremble had 42 yards and a score on five receptions and eight targets. Evans went for 23 yards and a touchdown on three grabs and four targets.
Unless a tight end erupts on Monday night, the Carolina tight ends will have the most favorable matchup against the Dolphins in week 5. The tough thing is guessing who might lead the way. The snaps played says to trust Tremble, so if I'm adding one of the Carolina tight ends, it's him.
Should You Add Jake Tonges?
Tonges had his best showing of the season, catching three of his five targets for 58 yards and a score in week 4.
Of course, San Fran is still without George Kittle, and Tonges has stepped up the most from a fantasy perspective. He played 68% of the team's total offensive plays, so that's a good positive in his favor.
He's contributed a bit here and there, but has only been a deep, deep league asset to this point.
Tonges has a slightly above-average matchup against the Rams in week 5. In a week where four teams are on a bye, it's not crazy to maybe add and start Tonges in some standard leagues. He's at least an option in deeper fantasy setups.
Should You Add AJ Barner?
Barner had his best game of the season in week 4, catching all three of his targets for 32 yards and a score. It's not much, but it's one of the better fantasy scores of the week, so far.
He had just four catches for 48 yards over his first three games, so his last showing might have been the “outlier.” Barner played 86% of the team's offensive snaps, so you could certainly do worse than him.
Anyways, he has a pretty average matchup against the Buccaneers in week 5. After his showing in week 4, and knowing there's less options available this week, taking a gamble on Barner makes some sense the deeper a league you are talking about.
Should You Add Darren Waller?
Waller has still not hit the field this regular season, but he should on Monday night. His showing tonight could determine just how strong a waiver wire option he is going into week 5.
Waller will be playing his first game with the Dolphins, where he could quickly become the No. 3 option behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. At the very least, there's room in the Dolphins' offense for another player or two to get involved, and Waller could be the one who steps up.
Waller will have a good matchup in week 5 against the Panthers, so that's why I'm mentioning him before he even takes the field. We'll discuss him a bit (probably) in our Monday night takeaway story, so check back Tuesday for that.
Should You Add Mike Gesicki or Noah Fant?
Here's two more tight ends who haven't played this week. Fant won't because of an injury, but I'm mentioning both guys going into a nice week 5 matchup against the Lions.
Fant had 80 yards and a score on 12 catches and 14 targets through three weeks. He has 26 or 28 yards in each contest, so that's a little something to work with.
Gesicki has just 38 yards on five grabs and 10 targets across three games. He has a chance to re-emerge as a fantasy asset with a big showing on Monday though.
Things could get complicated if Gesicki delivers on Monday, but one of these two guys, or both, could be great options against the Lions in week 5. Hopefully, we get a clearer picture on who might lead the way, so we know which Bengal tight end to go after leading up to week 5.
Should You Add Hunter Henry?
Henry went for 39 yards and a score on his lone two receptions and targets in week 4. That was a step back from showings in weeks 1 and 3, but at least he scored to deliver a nice fantasy score still.
He has a matchup against the Bills in week 5. That's a tough matchup on paper, but if you don't want to trust a pretty unproven tight end, going with the veteran Henry makes some sense.
Unfortunately, he's been kind of a boom-or-bust fantasy asset in the early going. Henry is at least worth looking into, and will be a better option just because there's four teams on bye weeks.
Should You Add Mason Taylor?
Taylor is another tight end who is going to be playing on Monday night, so be paying attention to all those tight ends!
He was most involved in his last game, but four catches and six targets only led to 18 yards. He has 43 yards on six catches and nine targets overall.
He's been on the field for 78% of the team's offensive snaps through three weeks, so in time, the rookie should become more and more involved. If he breaks out on Monday, then he'll obviously be a big-time waiver add for week 5.
A week 5 test against the Cowboys is a bit tougher matchup for Taylor, but on an offense lacking proven pass catchers, Taylor has a chance to deliver every week. Don't forget about him when putting in week 5 waiver claims.
Should You Add Theo Johnson?
Johnson went for 17 yards and a score on three receptions and five targets, which again doesn't look like much, but it was one of the better fantasy TE scores in week 4. What's better is that it came in Jaxson Dart's first start, so maybe there's something building there.
Johnson has just 66 yards and the score through four games now. He has nine catches and 15 targets.
We have to dig deeper to find waiver options when bye weeks start, and that's what we are doing here with Johnson. He will have an above-average test in week 5 against the Saints, so he'll be a sneaky good option for those of you looking for a streaming option.
Should You Add Dalton Schultz?
Schultz has solid reception and target marks, but his yardage has lacked so far this season. He has at least four targets and three receptions in every game, but hasn't topped 40 yards once.
He's caught five of his six targets in each of the past two games. He has 69 yards over those contests, and has 126 yards for the season.
He's played 70% of the team's offensive snaps, so there's a few things working in Schultz's favor. Schultz also has an above-average test in week 5 against the Ravens, and maybe is a bit more trustworthy than some of the other guys we've mentioned.
His fantasy ceiling might be low, but there's a decent floor for him too, and that's better than a goose egg.
