Week 4 Fantasy Football Tight End Who Should I Start? Tyler Warren, Dalton Kincaid, and More
Comparing Tyler Warren to three tight ends who he has been matched up with most on the FantasySP start/sit tool.
Indianapolis Colts rookie tight end Tyler Warren is showing up all over our FantasySP Who Should I Start? tool prior to Week 4. The Colts have been one of the biggest surprises of the first three weeks, and Warren has found immediate success, something that was projected by optimistic analysts.
Fantasy owners are questioning Warren's fantasy value this week as he goes against a tougher defense in the Los Angeles Rams. Let's look at Warren and three guys who he has been compared to most on the start/sit tool. Most stats are from NFL.com.

Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts @ Los Angeles Rams
Warren had a strong start to the season, catching seven passes for 76 yards in Week 1 and four passes for 79 yards in Week 2. He was a little slower last week, with 38 yards on three receptions, but Warren has picked up the torch as the next instant rookie contributor at tight end after Sam LaPorta and Brock Bowers the past two seasons.
Los Angeles has given up the eighth-fewest yards per pass attempt while sitting right in the middle in fantasy points given up to tight ends. Dallas Goedert caught a 33-yard touchdown last week, but it was his only catch. Dalton Schultz and Chig Okonkwo were also both right around 30 yards against LA, showing the Rams as a good defense against tight ends.
Warren showed in the first two weeks that he is on the precipice of being a weekly starter. It's possible he regresses with more games, but Warren has shown us a lot of good things early in his career.
Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers
Ferguson has been heavily involved the past two weeks, seeing 26 targets and catching 22 passes for 160 yards. He didn't get in the end zone, but that's about the only thing missing from the Dallas tight end the last few weeks. Even in a slower Week 1, he still caught five passes on his way to 23 yards.
The Packers have been a very tough defense to start the season, holding down the Lions, Commanders, and Browns (two of those are more impressive than the other). Green Bay is giving up the fewest yards per pass attempt and just 22.7 points per game. Like the Rams, the Packers sit right in the middle in terms of fantasy points given up to tight ends, showing a little more vulnerability to that position than wide receiver.
Ferguson's volume the past few weeks is that of a guy who should be in a lineup every week. He had just six targets in Week 1, so it's worth watching a longer sample to see how the distribution comes out. Though Green Bay has been more giving to tight ends than other positions, I still don't want to test them with any position and will stay away if I can.
Advice: Start Tyler Warren over Jake Ferguson
Dalton Kincaid, Buffalo Bills vs. New Orleans Saints
I put my faith in Kincaid last season that he would take a huge leap without a lot of pass-catching talent in Buffalo. Instead, he regressed in many areas from his rookie season, as he dealt with an injury for a stretch. This year has started more like I thought 2024 would, as Kincaid has caught 13 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns through three games.
New Orleans is allowing the 10th-most yards per pass attempt while again sitting right in the middle in terms of fantasy points given up to tight ends. It's easy to see the Saints as the worst team in the league, but their offense is worse than their defense, so while I'm still happy to target them, it's worth following the numbers when looking at fantasy players against the Saints.
Kincaid is a decent fantasy TE who has started the season on the right track. The matchup is a positive one, so Kincaid has a chance at a good Week 4. His only downside in this comparison is that he doesn't have as big of a ceiling as Warren, who is just a better fantasy player.
Advice: Start Tyler Warren over Dalton Kincaid
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers @ Dallas Cowboys
Kraft's value so far depends on what you want to focus on. He was held to just 16 yards on two catches in Week 1 and 29 yards on three receptions in Week 3, though he did have a touchdown in the first game. That's modest production. Throw in Week 2, when Kraft had six catches for 124 yards and another score, and suddenly, he's a top fantasy tight end. His real value is somewhere in the middle, and Kraft will probably have more inconsistency in his numbers.
This is a good matchup, as the Cowboys have allowed more yards per pass attempt than any other team. They are better against tight ends; like the other teams mentioned here, Dallas has been right around average giving up fantasy points to TEs. With the way they are allowing passing games to move the ball, though, I'm interested in using any pass catcher against the Cowboys.
Kraft's big game makes him look better than he has otherwise been this season, but he's a reasonable player to consider each week. While the matchup here is a positive one, Dallas has been better against tight ends than the other skill positions.
Advice: Start Tyler Warren over Tyler Kraft
