Josue De Paula - Los Angeles Dodgers

De Paula is up 3.29% already today, and that brings his overall mark to 10%.

De Paula is expected to be called up to the big leagues and make his MLB debut on Friday. The corresponding move is Shohei Ohtani hitting the injured list, so the highly-touted prospect has some big shoes to fill.

He is the No. 6 prospect in all of baseball, and he wasn't expected to debut until 2027, but Ohtani's injury changed that. The 21-year-old outfielder played in Double-A all year, posting a .303 average and .401 on-base percentage. He had 152 hits over 124 games, along with 104 RBIs, 106 runs scored, 81 walks, 31 stolen bases and just 87 strikeouts. Among his hits, De Paula had 37 doubles, 27 home runs and two triples.

His best prospect tool is hitting, graded as a 65. He's got a 60 for power, so hitting is what he's known for. His arm is graded as a 50, with 40 marks for his running and fielding abilities. De Paula is a 60 overall graded prospect.

The Dodgers wouldn't call up a top-end prospect to have him not playing every day, so expect to see a lot of De Paula after Friday. It's possible he sticks in the big leagues for the remainder of the season, even if Ohtani is eventually activated. Being on a loaded offense also helps De Paula's fantasy cause, so I think he's worth adding in most leagues.

He's a bigger dynasty asset, but he has some redraft appeal right now as well. If you need fantasy outfield help, give De Paula some consideration.

Jared Jones - Pittsburgh Pirates

Jones has been added in 6.39% of leagues as he prepares to make a start. He is owned in 47.24% of leagues overall.

Jones is making a start against the White Sox on Thursday. Chicago was a really good fantasy streaming matchup over the years, but has been better this year. On a short day of MLB action, Jones is a better option than he'd otherwise be. 

He's coming off a six-inning outing against the Angels. Jones didn't allow a run on three hits and a walk, while striking out nine. He allowed three or fewer runs in the three starts before that, but also didn't go longer than five innings. Over 17 starts this year, Jones is 3-6 with a 4.46 earned run average - he has 92 strikeouts over 78 2/3 innings.

Coming off a strong start, I like the idea of trying Jones today, especially in an OK matchup and with not many other options available. There's a chance for a shorter start though, so he's not a must-start guy.

Jake Burger - Texas Rangers

Burger sits at 30.63% rostered, which is up from 26.47% four days ago.

He's reached base safely in six straight games, collecting six hits and seven walks over that stretch. Burger has three homers among the hits, plus five RBIs, eight runs scored and eight strikeouts.

Burger has a .238 average and .307 OBP over 139 games and 554 plate appearances this season. He has 119 total hits, including 26 home runs and 21 doubles, plus has 83 RBIs, 63 runs scored, 37 walks, three stolen bases and 149 strikeouts.

He's a streaky hitter, so he's up and down as a fantasy asset. The first baseman is heating up now, so he's worth some more ownership/utilization. At a critical juncture of the fantasy season, he could be added in all leagues depending on a roster's needs.

Hagen Smith - Chicago White Sox

Smith will be the pitcher opposing Jones in today's Pirates, White Sox matchup. Smith is only rostered in 7.98% of leagues, but he's another big add on a short day of MLB action.

He's only pitched in relief across 10 big league appearances this season. Smith is 3-1 with a stellar 0.56 ERA over 16 innings, so you can see why he's such a big waiver wire/streaming add today. Smith has 23 strikeouts in his time on the bump, while allowing five hits and 10 walks.

It's pretty probable that his start is a shorter one, so that limits his fantasy upside a bit. Smith is still worth some adds today, especially if you are just looking for a few fantasy points, because the matchup is a pretty solid one.

Victor Mesa Jr. - Tampa Bay Rays

Mesa is only rostered in 3.07% of leagues, but he is on the rise a bit.

He's been hot at the plate this month, posting a .367 average and .387 OBP over eight games and 31 plate appearances. He has a homer and a double among his 11 knocks, plus a walk, two stolen bases, four RBIs, six runs scored and two strikeouts.

Mesa has a .238 average and .303 OBP over 64 contests and 210 plate appearances this season. He has 45 total knocks, including 11 homers, four doubles and two triples. Mesa also has collected 26 RBIs and runs scored, eight stolen bases, 17 walks and 42 strikeouts.

The outfielder is trending up at a great time, but he's still only worth adding in deeper fantasy setups. There has to be better fantasy outfield options available to you in standard setups.
