Fantasy Football Takeaways from Bills' Win over Dolphins: Dalton Kincaid, Ollie Gordon and More
Looking at some fantasy football takeaways from the week 3 Thursday night game.
The third week of the NFL regular season got rolling with an AFC East clash between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.
Buffalo won, like most expected, but it was a tie game in the final quarter before the Bills scored the final 10 points. Buffalo racked up 360 total yards, while Miami had 276 yards.
Let's discuss some fantasy football takeaways from the contest.

Allen, Cook Combo Powers Bills
As expected, it was Josh Allen and James Cook who led the Bills on offense.
Allen completed 22 of his 28 passes for 213 yards, three scores and no picks. He rushed for an additional 25 yards on four carries.
Cook rushed 19 times for 108 yards and a score. He caught all three of his targets for 10 more yards.
Both guys were stellar, and remain high-end fantasy options every week. Allen has higher expectations to live up to, and while he hasn't exploded over the past two weeks, he's continued to deliver good fantasy totals. Expect more of the same from him moving forward.
Cook has been fantastic in the early going, and is looking like a draft steal, which is wild to say after the 2024 season he had. He's a must-start fantasy back at this point, and has a great chance to be a top-10 back, if not in the top five.
Bills' Leading Pass Catchers
Tight end Dalton Kincaid ended up leading the Bills as a pass catcher. He caught five of his six targets for 66 yards and a score.
Khalil Shakir went for 45 yards and a score on four grabs and targets.
Elijah Moore caught two of his three targets for 30 yards. He also rushed once for 11 yards.
No other Bill had over 25 receiving yards. Most notably, Keon Coleman only had 20 yards on three catches and four targets. Rookie TE Jackson Hawes caught the other touchdown - the five-yard grab was his only target in the contest.
Through three weeks now, no Buffalo pass catcher has separated themself from the pack.
Coleman leads the way with 158 yards and a score, but 112 of those yards and the score came in week 1.
Kincaid has 151 yards and two scores so far. Being he's a tight end, he feels like the best fantasy pass-catching option in Buffalo for now.
Shakir has 121 yards and the score so far. Joshua Palmer, who only had a five-yard catch on his lone target on Thursday, has 113 yards so far.
So it appears that the week 1 outing by Coleman was more of a fluke than a breakout. He's the receiver I'd feel most confident in starting, but he's still going to deliver some duds. Him, Shakir and Palmer are just deep-league starting options in my eyes.
Again, the only pass catcher I'd really want to start is Kincaid, and he's closer to being a flex-level option than a regular starter.
We'll see if the situation ever gets some clarity this season, but the past two weeks feel like a good indication of what's to come.
Not Many Standouts from Miami
With under 300 total yards, you can imagine that not many Dolphins had great fantasy showings.
Tua Tagovailoa was 22-of-34 passing for 146 yards and two touchdowns, but he also threw a costly interception. He rushed twice for 10 yards.
De'Von Achane rushed 12 times for 62 yards, while adding 29 receiving yards on seven grabs and nine targets.
Ollie Gordon surprisingly got nine rushing attempts, and he finished with 38 yards and a score. He was not targeted in the passing game.
Tyreek Hill caught half of his 10 targets for 49 yards and score. Jaylden Waddle made five grabs across six targets for 39 yards and a score.
Malik Washington tallied 20 rushing yards on two carries and caught three of his five targets for an additional 12 yards.
Achane was good again, and in PPR formats, delivered a good fantasy score without a touchdown. It was surprising to see him lose so many carries, and the score, to a backup, but I'm not worried about him in the long run. The Dolphins probably just involved the backup more on a short week.
Hill's fantasy day as a PPR asset was fine, but the score made it much better. The same could be said for Waddle. They remain better WR2s or WR3s in the fantasy world.
Tagovailoa has improved since a bad week 1 showing, but this was still a pretty underwhelming fantasy outing. I expected more from him, although the game allowed the Dolphins to run a bit more than I expected.
He'll remain an average-or-so fantasy option on a weekly basis.
This just isn't the same Dolphins' offense we've seen in the past. Fantasy owners are only going to feel somewhat confident in their fantasy players if the matchup is super favorable.
Maybe the addition of Darren Waller will help boost the offense a bit. That's asking a lot of a guy who was already retired, but Miami's offense needs a spark, and I'm grasping at straws.
IDP and Kicker Stats
Miami's Tyrel Dodson was the game's leader in tackles with 11. He also had a sack and pass defensed.
Terrel Bernard picked off the pass for the Bills. He also had seven tackles.
Miami's Bradley Chubb had the game's second, and only other, sack. He finished with three combined tackles.
Buffalo's Taron Johnson led the Bills with eight tackles, and also had a pass defensed. Miami's Rasul Douglas had seven tackles.
Buffalo kicker Matt Prater made and missed a field goal, but made every extra point attempt. Miami kicker Riley Patterson made his three extra points, and didn't get a field goal try.
