Fantasy Football Quarterback Draft Steals for 2025: Brock Purdy, C.J. Stroud and More
Morgan identifies some possible draft steals at the quarterback position for the 2025 fantasy football season.
Not much is happening in the NFL world right now, but that doesn't mean fantasy football owners aren't getting excited for the season.
I produced some rankings (dynasty: quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends; redraft: quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends) over the past few weeks, and now am going to turn my attention to possible draft steals.
I'll begin with the quarterback position. For the QB position, I limited myself to players in the top-20 slots on the Average Draft Position list.

Baker Mayfield - Buccaneers
Mayfield is the No. 7 fantasy quarterback on the ADP list right now. That could change before the season, but looking at the names ahead of him, I think there's a better chance Mayfield sticks where he is, or falls further.
Mayfield was the No. 4 fantasy QB on a per-week basis (and overall) last season. He was special, and there's not many reasons to expect him to regress heavily in 2025 with a similar, or better, offense around him.
Jared Goff - Lions
Goff is the No. 10 fantasy QB on the ADP list. He finished sixth overall and seventh on a per-week basis last season.
Many are expecting Goff, and the Lions' offense as a whole to take a step back in 2025, but I don't see the offense falling off that much. There's talent all over the place, and Goff is lined up to deliver another big fantasy showing as a result.
Brock Purdy - 49ers
Purdy is the No. 11 QB on the ADP list for now. He was 10th on a per-week basis a season ago.
Purdy and the Niners' offense took a step back last year, but there's reason to expect a big bounceback for everyone. He's going as a backup QB in 10-team leagues, and could become a weekly starter, so he's a big steal candidate in my eyes.
Dak Prescott - Cowboys
Prescott is the No. 13 QB on the ADP list - I have a feeling he'll improve his standing as the season nears, which will take him off my draft steal list.
Prescott is coming off a down 2024 season in which he battled injuries and missed games. Healthy again, Prescott could deliver good enough fantasy totals to be a weekly starting option again. There's draft value in his current ADP, and he could become a massive steal if the Cowboys take off under a new-look coaching staff.
Justin Herbert - Chargers
Herbert is being slept on early, sitting 15th among quarterbacks so far. He was 13th on a per-game basis a season ago.
That was in his first season under a new coaching staff, so he should be more comfortable in year two. He's unlikely to replicate the 23:3 QB to INT ratio he had last season, but more touchdown passes and yards could offset some more picks, and make him a weekly starter in short order.
Jordan Love - Packers
Love is the No. 17 QB on the ADP list right now. That's where he finished on a per-game basis a season ago, so that's honestly fair.
Love got injured in the first game last season, and I don't think he was ever 100% after that. The Packers' offense added some more talent this offseason, setting Love up for a possible breakout season. He might not even get drafted in a lot of standard leagues, and he could be a weekly starter if everything comes together.
Drake Maye - Patriots
Maye sits 18th on the ADP list right now. His standing has a decent chance of improving before the season starts, but he'd have to go way up to lose his draft steal possibility.
Maye showed some solid things in his rookie season and now is better set up to succeed as a sophomore. I think Maye might erupt in his second NFL season, and he could be a waiver wire pickup for a lot of fantasy owners.
C.J. Stroud - Texans
Stroud had a rough go of things in his second NFL season. It means that he might go into the 2025 season as a really underrated fantasy asset.
He's shown to already be a weekly fantasy starter, and could bounce back to that level of play this year. Stroud's value should increase as the season gets closer, but for now, we're talking about him being a waiver pickup, not a draftable fantasy asset.
