Fantasy Football Week 6 Running Back Start/Sit: Chase Brown, Tyler Allgeier, Rico Dowdle and More
These are the running backs you need to start this week and the ones who you should keep on your bench.
Start
Chase Brown, Cincinnati Bengals
The takeover of the Bengals' backfield is in full swing. Brown is now outperforming Zack Moss week after week and is now beginning to see more volume as well.
Last week, Brown carried the ball 12 times, while Moss managed just nine carries. Perhaps more importantly, Brown once again found the end zone, which if nothing else was supposed to be Moss' role.
We are at a point where Brown is seeing more carries, just as much passing work, and more looks down by the end zone. He is a great start this week against the New York Giants and is the back to start in Cincy from here on out.
Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers
It seems that some people haven't quite taken notice, but Hubbard has been awesome since Andy Dalton has taken over at quarterback for the Panthers. In three games with Dalton under center, Hubbard has carried the ball 52 times for 315 yards while catching all 13 of his targets for 70 and scoring three total TDs. Until Jonathon Brooks changes things in the Carolina backfield, Hubbard is a must-start on a weekly basis.
J.K. Dobbins, Los Angeles Chargers
Dobbins has a scary matchup this week against the Denver Broncos, who might just have the best defense in the league. However, we are here to tell you not to be afraid to start Dobbins. This coaching staff is going to run the ball early and often in this game regardless of what's going on.
Gus Edwards is hurt and may not play in this game, which would leave everything to Dobbins. Justin Herbert is also hobbled and the Broncos lock up great receivers. The duds that LA is trotting out there have no chance of getting open in this game.
Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons
If you are in a pinch, Allgeier should be a decent flex option this week. Teams are running all over the Panthers' defense and Bijan Robinson popped up as a late addition on the injury report on Thursday. However, we are basing this start selection on the assumption that Robinson is out there.
We expect Allgeier to finish this game with about 10 carries and two targets, which is more than enough for him to be a valuable flex option against this defense. At some point, these running backs in Atlanta are going to start scoring TDs, and he has just as good a shot to find the end zone as Robinson.
Najee Harris, Pittsburgh Steelers
The wheels are falling off in Vegas and they just lost their star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins for what will likely be the rest of the season. The Steelers are going to run the ball relentlessly and Harris is the last back standing.
Jaylen Warren and Cordarrelle Patterson are both going to miss another game, which will lead to a ton of volume for Harris. We expect Harris to finish as an RB1 this week and he could have a shot at finishing close to the RB1 overall in this matchup.
Sit
Rico Dowdle, Dallas Cowboys
Everyone is going to be excited about Dowdle now that he's taken over this backfield and played great against a tremendous Steelers' defense last week. Nevertheless, we are not excited about starting him against the Lions this week. Their defense is brutal against the position and we don't believe that Dowdle is good enough to overcome the matchup.
Alexander Mattison, Las Vegas Raiders
Mattison is now the top back in Vegas and he could PPR his way to a decent week. However, he has a bad matchup against the Steelers and we view Aidan O'Connell as a downgrade at quarterback.
This situation in Vegas is getting ugly and spiraling quickly. The offense isn't going to be able to move the ball at all and Mattison won't be able to get anything going in this one.
Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns
Ford has been frustrating and we are about ready to move on from him altogether. The Browns' offense is bad and their backfield has been confusing. They don't even seem to know what they want to do.
Nick Chubb returning at some point soon will only complicate this backfield further. Not only should you bench Ford this week, but you should try to trade him if at all possible. This situation is going to be a mess moving forward and you should get out if you can.
