Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: The Players You Can’t Ignore
Injuries and opportunity are creating streaming options in both standard and deep leagues—here’s who to target tonight.
Let's put together one more fantasy basketball waiver wire article before the weekend hits!
Here are our stories from Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I will skip anyone I discussed yesterday, but will include players from Monday-Wednesday if they are trending up again today.
Waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Kobe Brown - Indiana Pacers
Brown is rostered in just 6.49% of fantasy leagues at the moment. He was barely owned just a couple days ago.
Brown has scored in double figures in three straight games for the Pacers. He has accumulated 16 rebounds, 14 assists, three steals and two blocks over those contests as well.
He's playing more of late with several Indiana players on the injury report. Brown even started the last game, logging 28 minutes in that one.
With so many teammates out again for Friday night, Brown could be in for another good fantasy showing. He's a better deep-league asset, but could be a sneaky good standard league streaming option if a couple more Pacers cannot play on Friday night.
Watch the injury report and react accordingly with Brown.
Jamal Shead - Toronto Raptors
Shead is rostered in 14% of leagues right now. He is down from a couple days ago, but is a streaming option for tonight.
Shead has picked up his production the past three games, and he was rewarded with a start and 37 minutes in his last game. He had 16 points, seven assists, two steals and one block and rebound in that outing.
He had six points, but 12 assists and one steal in 29 minutes off the bench in the game before that. Three games ago, Shead started and played 23 minutes, tallying 12 points, 10 assists, three steals and two rebounds.
Shead is taking advantage of extra playing time with Immanuel Quickley out with a foot injury. Jamison Battle is the only other Raptor on the injury report.
Toronto plays on Friday, so he's a decent streaming option after what he's done of late. Again, I'd prefer to only try him in deeper leagues, and there's really no way I'd want to try him in standard leagues.
Naji Marshall - Dallas Mavericks
Marshall is owned in 75% of fantasy leagues. That's slightly up from the past couple days.
Marshall has scored in double figures in four straight appearances, with his lowest output in that stretch being 16 points. He's averaging 21.3 points, 4.3 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 2 steals over 33.8 minutes a game in that four-game stretch.
However, he has missed the team's past two games, which explains why he was being dropped. Marshall is cleared to play on Friday, so naturally, he's back on the rise.
Dallas will be without several players for tonight's game, which makes Marshall a really good streaming option in all leagues. He should already be rostered in all deeper leagues, and I'd be happy to fire him up in standard leagues for tonight's contest.
Sandro Mamukelashvili - Toronto Raptors
Mamukelashvili is up to 54% rostered. That's up over 3% from earlier this week, and he's up nearly 25% since March 28.
Mamukelashvili has picked up his play of late, scoring in double figures in six straight appearances. He's averaging 17.7 point, 6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.7 blocks over 24 minutes a night.
He's a bit risky as a fantasy asset because he's coming off the bench, but he's delivered enough of late to trust in a good amount of leagues.
I like Mamukelashvili in deeper leagues for sure, and also would consider him in standard leagues. He's coming off a game in which he played 33 minutes, and if that happens again tonight, Mamukelashvili could be in for a good fantasy outing.
He'll likely remain a streaming asset in all leagues for the remainder of the season, but I'd keep rostering him in deeper leagues if his production keeps up.
Precious Achiuwa - Sacramento Kings
Achiuwa is owned in 89% of fantasy leagues. He was closer to 85% earlier this week, so he too is on the rise.
Achiuwa has been a pretty solid fantasy asset all season, but is coming off a big showing, so he's rising before the team's next game. Over 38 minutes in his last appearance, Achiuwa had 28 points, 19 rebounds, one assist and one block.
He averages 9.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.7 blocks over 23.6 minutes a night, so his last appearance seems like an outlier. However, he's been starting and playing more minutes of late, and it's resulted in him scoring in double figures in 10 straight contests.
That makes him a better fantasy option than you might originally think. Add in all the Sacramento injuries and Achiuwa's fantasy outlook is even higher.
Give him some serious consideration for standard leagues tonight, and just keep rostering him until his production falls off.
