Wednesday's Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: Suarez, Veen Among Hitters Rising

Eugenio Suarez - Cincinnati Reds

Suarez sits at 48.78% rostered in fantasy baseball leagues right now. He's mostly been trending down of late, but is now trending upward again.

He had two hits on Tuesday, with one being a home run and the other a double. Suarez has a hit in all but two games so far this month, and has seven knocks in total. Over 30 plate appearances, Suarez has three home runs, three doubles, four walks, five RBIs and three runs scored.

Suarez has struggled most of the year in his first season back with the Reds. Over 87 games and 346 plate appearances, Suarez has just a .206 average and .286 on-base percentage. He's got 14 doubles, 17 home runs and 64 total hits, plus 44 RBIs, 30 runs scored, 32 walks and 125 strikeouts.

The primary designated hitter can also play third base. He's underwhelmed most of the season, and is a draft bust between the poor hitting numbers and some missed time due to injuries.

He's starting to produce a little more, so it's fair to see him on the rise. Suarez is a better deep-league fantasy asset right now, but if he keeps producing, he could sneak back into some standard leagues and provide you with a little bit down the stretch.

Nolan Arenado - Arizona Diamondbacks

Arenado is owned in 36.59% of leagues at this time. He's been a bit more up and down of late, but is trending upward right now.

He has back-to-back two-hit games, and has a triple and a home run among the hits. Arenado has 10 hits this month and only three games without at least one hit. He has eight RBIs and six runs scored this month.

Over 114 games and 442 plate appearances on the season, Arenado now owns a .245 average and .324 OBP. He's got 96 total hits, including 20 doubles, 18 home runs and a triple. Arenado has 58 RBIs, 55 runs scored, 40 walks, four stolen bases and 90 strikeouts.

The third baseman has been an inconsistent fantasy performer, so he's been a waiver wire option and drop candidate several times this season. Take advantage of his hot streaks while you can, but also be ready to move off him after he cools off.

Arenado is another fantasy player who is a better deep-league asset. He's trending up of late, but needs to keep delivering to work back into standard leagues. Don't be afraid to move off him if his numbers fall off for a couple games in a row.

Chandler Simpson - Tampa Bay Rays 

Simpson is up 1.81% so far today, and now he sits at 78.86% overall.

Simpson has four multi-hit games in a row. Across his 10 knocks in that span, he's got one extra-base hit, a double. He's also tallied just two RBIs and three runs scored in that span, while not having a walk or strikeouts and stealing three bases.

Those numbers mirror his season-long efforts. Simpson has a .307 average and .334 OBP over 112 contests and 450 plate appearances. He has 128 hits, with just 12 doubles and six triples. Simpson has posted 25 RBIs, 49 runs scored, 33 stolen bases, 20 walks and just 39 strikeouts.

He's the ultimate contact hitter, with no homers to his name. Adding stolen bases to the mix, with not many strikeouts, and Simpson is actually a pretty good fantasy asset.

He's worth utilizing in all deeper leagues, and when he's red hot like he is now, Simpson is worth spots in standard leagues. Make the move, especially if you are lacking in the outfield a bit.

Zac Veen - Colorado Rockies

Veen is up 4.07% today, which is a great mark for a hitter in the middle of a week. He's owned in 12.2% of leagues overall.

Veen has not played in the big leagues yet in 2026, but he's reportedly getting called up. He played in 12 games for the Rockies last season, and struggled to a .118 average and .189 OBP over 37 plate appearances. He has a double and a homer among his four hits, plus two RBIs, a run scored, a stolen base, two walks and 14 strikeouts.

He's torn it up in Triple-A this season, and especially of late. Over 100 games and 445 plate appearances overall, Veen has a .327 average and .402 OBP. Veen has 128 hits, including 33 doubles, 24 home runs and eight triples, plus has added 87 RBIs, 82 runs scored, 18 stolen bases, 48 walks and 91 strikeouts.

Honestly, I don't understand why he hasn't been in the big leagues for a while already - those are incredible numbers. Now that he's being called up, hopefully the Rockies give him a chance to start daily, and we'll see if he can keep raking at the plate.

He's worth scooping up in some deeper redraft leagues before he even appears in a big league game this season. If he delivers a bit even, he'll be added in more and more leagues. Be ready to add the outfielder if he takes off with the big league club.

Dynasty owners have to be thrilled that he's back in the big leagues. He's 24 years old, and still has a good long-term outlook. We'll see if he can flash his potential down the stretch and solidify a long-term starting role with Colorado.
