Tuesday Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: 4 Hitters on the Rise

These four hitters are seeing their fantasy ownership rise and could be worth a waiver wire pickup.

Let's go over another round of fantasy baseball waiver wire options!

Here's the story we put together on Monday. Also be sure to check out Tuesday's starting pitcher streaming article.

Fantasy baseball waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP! The Fantasy Sports Assistant now can answer questions you have after doing team breakdowns or waiver wire analysis!

Zack Gelof - Athletics

Gelof currently is rostered in 40.81% of fantasy baseball leagues. He'd been below 40% until August 6.

Gelof had two hits, a double and a home run, on Monday night. He had two RBIs and two runs scored as well.

That was his first game since July 9. He got activated off the 10-day injured list earlier in the day.

He has played in 68 games so far this season, getting 251 plate appearances. Gelof has a .277 average and .329 on-base percentage, plus 31 RBIs, 43 runs scored, 14 walks, eight stolen bases and 63 strikeouts. He has 12 doubles and home runs, plus a triple, among his 64 total hits.

Gelof has hit pretty well when active this season, so it was good to see him deliver right away after being activated. He can play all over the field, and the more spots he's eligible at, the better his fantasy value is.

He was going to be added a bit after the month or so layoff, but after delivering right away too, his own percentage should go up a good bit. Gelof is worth deep-league fantasy roster spots, at least. If he delivers daily, he could work into standard leagues in a hurry, so keep a close eye on him.

Cam Smith - Houston Astros

Smith has risen to 21.1% owned, after being at 11.63% back on August 3.

Smith had three hits, including a home run, on Monday night. He also had a three-hit game three games ago, and he popped two homers in that one.

Smith now has 16 homers, 15 doubles and two triples among his 87 hits on the season. He has a .226 average and .298 OBP over 117 games and 431 plate appearances. Smith also has 44 RBIs, 51 runs scored, 10 stolen bases, 35 walks and 106 strikeouts.

The primary right fielder has not improved in his second season like many people expected him too. He is capable of big fantasy showings, and has a couple of late, so he should be on the rise a bit.

Smith is just a deep-league fantasy asset at this point, and it would take a couple weeks of hot hitting daily to get him into standard leagues. He's one to keep tabs on, but is more a deep-league pickup and option while his bat is going well.

Griffin Conine - Miami Marlins

Conine sits at 10.55% rostered at this moment. He was at just 4.7% back on July 29.

He has a pair of two-hit games in a row. He hit two homers in his last appearances, and has four RBIs, two runs scored and a walk across those two contests.

Conine now owns a .265 average and .349 OBP on the season, which has spanned 52 games and 166 plate appearances so far. Conine has 12 home runs and five doubles among his 39 total hits, plus 26 RBIs, 23 runs scored, 17 walks and 52 strikeouts.

Conine has mostly played the corner outfield spots, but he has a couple of appearances at first base too - so he could be a more valuable fantasy asset in time if he adds more position eligibility. Right now though, he's just a deep-league fantasy asset.

He's worth maybe scooping up for a little while in case his bat stays hot, but I see him topping out as a deep-league asset as well. There's better long-term options to try in standard leagues.

Josh Bell - Minnesota Twins

Bell is up to 24.31% right now. He was at 21.72% a couple days ago.

He had two hits, including a home run, on Monday. Bell drove in three runs and scored once. Bell has 12 hits over eight games and 36 plate appearances this month. He also has tallied three homers, a double, eight RBIs, seven runs scored, four walks and has struck out just two times.

Bell has a .252 average and .314 OBP over 115 contests and 465 plate appearances this season. He has 24 doubles, 16 homers and a triple among his 107 total knocks. Bell also has 71 RBIs, 59 runs scored, 37 walks, a stolen base and 98 strikeouts.

The primary designated hitter should also be eligible at first base. If he wasn't at a loaded fantasy spot, he'd probably be owned in more fantasy leagues.

As is, he's a pretty good deep-league asset, and is a bit underowned in my eyes. Bell is worth adding and utilizing in more deeper leagues. With some pop to his game, he's worth watching for a potential standard league pickup, especially if his bat stays hot for a little while.
