Fantasy Baseball Weekly Projections: Best Waiver Wire Pickups for the Week

Let's turn our attention to fantasy baseball weekly projections now and look into some possible waiver wire/streaming options.

Hitters

Max Clark and Eduardo Valencia - Detroit Tigers

Clark is rostered in 68.67% of fantasy leagues after just being called up. Valencia is owned in just 6.44% of leagues. The Tigers have six games scheduled this week.

Clark, a highly-regarded prospect, has six hits across his first 15 plate appearances. He has two doubles and a home run already, plus three RBIs, four runs scored and three walks and strikeouts.

Clark has started fast and is quickly being scooped up in fantasy leagues. He should be added in all deeper leagues already, and he might be close, or at, 100% owned by the end of this week, so don't wait if you are interested in Clark, or need some outfield help.

The 26-year-old catcher is getting his first taste of the big leagues. He has nine hits over his past five contests, and now has a .452 average and .469 on-base percentage over his first 11 MLB games and 32 plate appearances. He has three doubles and four homers, plus 11 RBIs, nine runs scored, no walks and eight strikeouts.

It's early in Valencia's big league career, and he's going to regress, but those needing catcher help should consider adding him, at least until his bat cools off some. Only consider adding him in deeper leagues, unless he stays red hot all this week.

Luis Rengifo - San Diego Padres

Rengifo sits at 25.46% rostered coming into the week. He could play up to seven games.

He has found new life since joining the Padres. Over 15 games and 59 plate appearances in San Diego, he has a .362 average and .482 OBP. Rengifo has two homers and doubles among his 17 hits, plus eight RBIs, 11 runs scored, nine walks and strikeouts and two stolen bases.

He's played three different positions for San Diego, which ups his fantasy value and helps him get into the lineup more often. Rengifo is worth adding and utilizing in some deeper leagues, at least while his bat is hot.

Cooper Pratt - Milwaukee Brewers

Pratt and the Brewers have seven games scheduled as well. Pratt is sitting at 29.61% owned right now.

He has a hit in five straight games, and is now hitting .291 over his first 38 big league games. Pratt has a .381 OBP over 139 plate appearances.

Pratt has four doubles, two home runs and a triple among his 34 total hits. He also has posted 16 RBIs, 18 runs scored, 10 stolen bases, 18 walks and 26 strikeouts.

The shortstop is playing daily and producing often, so he's a rising fantasy asset. Try him out in deeper leagues, and keep tabs on him in case he keeps delivering, as he could be worth standard league adds here shortly.

Bryson Stott - Philadelphia Phillies

Stott is at 56.68% rostered as the new week starts. He's got seven games on tap as well.

He's been pretty productive of late, even if he's not posting hits in every game. Stott has six walks and two hits over his past four contests.

Stott has a .252 average and .317 OBP over 106 games and 409 plate appearances this season. He has 21 doubles, eight homers and six triples among his 93 total hits, plus 50 RBIs, 46 runs scored, 19 stolen bases, 34 walks and 75 strikeouts.

The second baseman started the year slow, but has heated up and is producing much better now. He's worth spots and utilization in most deeper leagues now, and he could be a short-term option in standard leagues until his production dips a bit.

UPDATE: The Phillies traded for Luis Arraez, so Stott's fantasy value could take a hit as a result. That could hold Stott back from being a standard league option.

Pitchers

Brandon Pfaadt - Arizona Diamondbacks

Pfaadt is sitting at 39.91% owned right now. He has probable starts against the Padres and Dodgers this week.

San Diego is a good matchup to try streaming pitchers in, while the Dodgers are one to avoid most times.

He's been starting games of late, sitting with a 1.85 earned run average over his past six outings. Pfaadt has a 4.00 ERA over nine starts and 19 appearances on the season, but has just 49 strikeouts over 72 innings pitched.

He's a better deep-league asset, but could be streamed in all leagues for that start against the Padres. Against the Dodgers, only consider Pfaadt in deeper leagues, unless you feel like taking a risk.

Brady Singer - Cincinnati Reds

Singer is rostered in 31.76% of leagues right now as he prepares for starts against the Athletics and Nationals.

Those are two pretty good matchups on paper, so Singer is rightfully projected to fare pretty well.

Singer has not allowed over three earned runs in any of his past five starts. He's 2-3 with a 2.37 ERA over that span. Singer has a 4.35 ERA over 21 starts overall, but he has 91 strikeouts over 107 2/3 innings, so the lack of Ks holds him back a bit too.

He's a solid deep-league option for both of his scheduled starts this week. Singer could be worth streaming in standard leagues too, depending on your other available options.

Patrick Sandoval - Boston Red Sox

Sandoval is owned in just 6.01% of leagues right now as he prepares for a two-start week.

He gets solid matchups against the White Sox and Athletics.

Sandoval has made just four starts this season, but owns a 3.32 ERA and has 20 strikeouts over 19 innings, so he's a decent option.

I like his matchups this week and would be willing to try him in more deeper leagues. I'd stay away from him in standard leagues if I could, just because he hasn't pitched very deep in any appearance yet.
