As we near the end of May, let's go over team hitting stats to identify teams to avoid and target with starting pitcher streaming options.
We will start with some teams to avoid, then look at teams to target.

Teams to Avoid
Los Angeles Dodgers
This one shouldn't be a big shocker, as the Dodgers are the most stacked team in the league.
They own the best batting average in the league at .262. They also lead the way in on-base percentage, and are 10 points ahead of anyone else. The Dodgers also lead the way in slugging percentage (.440) and OPS (.786).
LA has the second-most home runs in the league. They also strike out the seventh-least of any team.
The Dodgers are dangerous in a ton of ways, and are never one to try a waiver wire starting pitcher against. The only pitchers I really trust, even a bit, against the Dodgers are pitchers owned in most fantasy leagues already.
Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays aren't the offensive juggernauts that most of the other teams in this article are.
They have struck out the least amount of times in the MLB. They are over 25 strikeouts lower than anyone else, so they don't have the high upside some K-heavy teams do.
The Rays also have the second-best average in the league, just a point behind the Dodgers. Tampa Bay is third in OBP, 12 points behind the Dodgers.
They might be more average in several stats, but Tampa Bay is still a team to avoid, especially when it comes to streaming starting pitchers.
Atlanta Braves
The Braves have a lot of notable offensive players, so it's no surprise they make this article.
They are third in average at .258, but they lack a bit in OBP (they sit 10th at .323). Atlanta is third in slugging percentage and OPS.
The Braves are tied for fourth in home runs and are tied for the ninth-least amount of strikeouts. They are a pretty well-rounded offense, and are not one to test with streaming pitchers.
Only use trusted fantasy pitchers against them, and temper your expectations a bit.
New York Yankees
The Yankees are another high-end offense with a lot of big names, so it's no surprise that they make this article.
The Yankees are near the middle of the league in average, but they are tied for fifth in OBP. New York has the second-best slugging percentage and OPS.
One thing that New York struggles with is strikeouts - they have the eighth-most Ks in the league. They are stealing enough bases to make up for the strikeout issues.
Despite all the strikeouts, the Yankees are still not a team to target with streaming starting pitchers. Only try well-respected fantasy pitchers against them, and be wary still.
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers have been one of the better teams in the league for the past few seasons. The offense has been sneaky good this year.
Milwaukee is tied for the sixth-best average (.246) in the league. The Brewers are tied for fourth in OBP (.332). They are bottom three in slugging percentage and are slightly below average in the OPS department.
The Brewers have the fourth-least amount of strikeouts in the league, so they don't offer much upside there. Milwaukee has the second-most steals in the league, and that's part of the reason why the team has scored the seventh-most runs scored in the league.
Earlier in the year, the Brewers might have been a team to target, but at close to full strength, Milwaukee's offense is not a team to go after with streaming pitchers.
Teams to Target
San Diego Padres
The Padres have the lowest average (.218) and OBP (.291) in the league right now. San Diego has a lot of big offensive names, but have struggled to this point of the season.
The Padres have the second-lowest slugging percentage and OPS. They strike out at an average pace, but they are still a team to target.
Until the Padres' offense heats up, they are a team to target. Don't fire up any starting pitcher streamer against them, but guys with a little bit of MLB success can be tried against San Diego.
Los Angeles Angels
The Angels are not good this season, and their offense is definitely one to target.
Los Angeles has struck out the most times in the league (541). They have the second-lowest average, but are a bit better in the OBP department.
The Angels are closer to average in slugging percentage, but are a bottom-10 team in OPS.
Los Angeles doesn't have many notable offensive players, and are definitely a team to target with streaming starting pitchers. The Angels are a team to target even on lighter days of MLB action, so with lower-level streaming options.
New York Mets
The Mets are another surprising team on this list.
They are third-to-last in average and are just one point higher than the Padres in the OBP department. New York is last in slugging percentage and OPS.
New York is slightly above average in batter strikeouts, but they are still a team to go after, at least for now. Things could improve over time, and as the team gets healthier, but for now the Mets are one to target.
Keep monitoring things, but you can definitely stream some starting pitchers against the Mets for the time being.
San Francisco Giants
The Giants have scored the least amount of runs in the league so far.
San Fran also has some bigger offensive names, but are struggling to open the 2026 season. The Giants are a top-10 team in average, but are third-lowest in OBP. San Fran is closer to average in slugging percentage, but are third-lowest in OPS.
Tack on that the Giants are in the top 10 in least strikeouts and they are kind of an odd target. There's enough working against the Giants to stream against them here and there, but I'd like some MLB success for a pitcher before trying them against San Fran.
Colorado Rockies
This is a tricky team to target, as it matters where they are playing too. Colorado is a more dangerous offense if it's playing at home - if they are on the road, Colorado is a team to go after.
Colorado are average in batting average, but are bottom five in OBP. The Rockies are a bottom-half team in slugging percentage, while being bottom five in OPS.
Throw in the third-most punchouts in the league and there's a lot to like when streaming against the Rockies. Again, it matters if the Rockies are at home or not, but they are a team to target in the right situations.
Some more high-level streaming options can be trusted against Colorado for games in Colorado, but be careful with some lower-level guys if the games against the Rockies are in Colorado.
