Fantasy Baseball Weekly Pitcher Projections: Top Waiver Wire Adds

We have checked into some fantasy baseball waiver wire hitting and pitching options already, and now are going to check into the weekly projections to identify even more waiver wire assets.

We usually combine things into one story, but are going to separate things this week. First, let's go over some fantasy pitchers projected for big weeks - check back in a bit for the hitter article.

Zebby Matthews - Minnesota Twins

Matthews is projected for a big week in starts against the White Sox and Pirates. Those are pretty solid matchups on paper. He's rostered in 50% of fantasy leagues, and that's growing as he prepares to start on Monday.

Matthews has made two big league starts so far in 2026. He's 1-1, but with a 1.38 earned run average so far. Matthews has worked 13 innings, allowing two runs on nine hits and one walk, while striking out 11 batters.

Between the matchups and his strong start to the season, I like Matthews as a deep-league asset this week. He's also worth some standard league consideration this week, so give Matthews some looks.

Merrill Kelly - Arizona Diamondbacks

Kelly has starts scheduled against the Giants and Mariners this week. Those are two pretty good matchups on paper for a starting pitcher. Kelly is owned in about 55% of leagues right now - he's also growing as he prepares for a Monday start.

In seven starts so far, Kelly is 4-3 with a 5.71 ERA over 41 innings pitched. Kelly has allowed 26 runs on 44 hits and 18 walks, while striking out 27 batters.

He's been better over his past three starts, allowing three or less runs. He's covered 24 innings in that stretch, which is another positive.

So between the Giants and Mariners matchups, plus some better results of late, Kelly is a solid fantasy asset for the coming week. Utilize him in deeper leagues for sure, and also some standard leagues.

Anthony Kay - Chicago White Sox

Kay has some solid matchups this week coming against the Twins and Tigers. He's owned in just 8% of leagues at the moment.

In 10 appearances (eight starts), Kay is 3-1 with a 4.27 ERA. Over 46 1/3 innings, Kay has allowed 24 runs (22 earned) on 45 hits and 22 walks, while striking out 34 batters.

He too has been better of late, allowing three or less runs in four straight outings. Kay has only reached six innings once in that stretch, so that holds his fantasy outlook back a touch.

Kay is a bit overlooked as a fantasy asset right now, but between the matchups this week and some better results of late, Kay can be a decent deep-league asset. I'm not ready to unveil him in too many standard leagues, but he's capable of producing numbers worthy of standard league utilization.

Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker - Texas Rangers

Leiter and Rocker are a couple of younger pitchers who are projected for solid weeks. They will make starts against the Astros and Royals, which are both solid matchups on paper. Leiter is rostered in 36% of fantasy leagues, while Rocker is at just 14%.

Leiter has made 10 starts so far, and he's 1-4 with a 4.61 ERA so far. He's allowed 29 runs (28 earned) on 53 hits and 23 walks. Leiter has struck out 60 batters.

Leiter allowed four runs in his last start, but only allowed one combined in the two outings before that. He's been up and down for most of this season.

Rocker has made nine appearances, with eight of those being starts. He's 2-4 with a 3.60 ERA, allowing 18 runs on 42 hits and 20 walks over 45 innings. Rocker has struck out 37 batters along the way.

Rocker has allowed three or less runs in three straight outings, but only topped five innings in one of those appearances. He's coming off a 7 2/3-inning outing where he didn't allow a run and struck out seven along the way.

Both Leiter and Rocker are solid deep-league options for the coming week. Each is capable of putting together numbers worthy of standard leagues usage, but neither are that trustworthy. I actually prefer Rocker over Leiter based on each pitcher's results, but it's close to being a toss up.

Randy Vasquez - San Diego Padres

Vasquez has starts lined up against the Phillies and Nationals this coming week. Philly is an OK matchup, while Washington is a decent team to target. Vasquez is rostered in 69% of leagues.

He's been good across 10 starts this season, but has faded a bit since a stellar start to the season. Vasquez has a 5-2 record and 2.96 ERA over his starts.

Vasquez has allowed 18 runs on 49 hits and 16 walks, while striking out 45 batters. He's covered 54 2/3 innings so far.

He's an above-average fantasy pitcher option, so he's a good deep-league asset for the week, and could be tried in a lot of standard leagues as well, especially in that Washington matchup.
