Tyler O'Neill cools off at the plate ahead of road matchups against St. Louis and Athletics

O'Neill has cooled off significantly over the past two weeks, batting just .171 with 11 strikeouts across his last 10 games after a solid mid-summer power surge. Despite the recent dry spell, he remains Baltimore's everyday starter in right field while continuing to deliver highlight-reel defense. His lineup spot is secure as the fifth-place, 63-68 Orioles attempt to rebound from a recent loss on their upcoming road trip.

Through 85 games this year, O'Neill is slashing .212/.300/.377 with 10 home runs, tracking slightly below our season projection of a .230 batting average and 12 homers. While his profile consistently produces multi-homer spurts when locked in, high strikeout rates make these cold spells a regular occurrence. Our models expect his power output to normalize, though his low contact floor will continue to cap his overall ceiling.

Baltimore heads out for a six-game road trip against the Cardinals and Athletics, drawing favorable matchups against struggling starters including Matthew Liberatore (5.14 ERA) and Jack Perkins (7.36 ERA). Even with the welcoming opposing pitching staffs, O'Neill's ice-cold 2-for-16 stretch over his last five games makes him difficult to trust in standard leagues until the bat warms up. Sit.
