Top Midweek Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Adds
Bones Hyland leads the way after a big outing, while De'Anthony Melton and others capitalize on expanded roles.
It's time for our third fantasy basketball waiver wire story of the week already.
Here are the articles from Monday and Tuesday, plus Wednesday's streaming article.
Waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Bones Hyland: Big Game without Ant Around
The Timberwolves are without Anthony Edwards for a little bit (which we covered a bit more here), so players like Hyland have the chance to step up. He did on Tuesday.
Hyland came off the bench and logged 29 minutes. He had 22 points, five assists, two rebounds and one steal. Hyland made eight of his 14 shot attempts and was 4-of-8 from 3-point land.
Hyland is averaging 7.5 points, 2.6 assists, 1.6 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 0.2 blocks over 15 minutes per game in 60 appearances overall this season. That's not enough for fantasy utilization in many leagues, but his numbers on Tuesday definitely are.
Hyland is worth adding in some deeper leagues, and maybe holding until Edwards is back. That could last a week or two, or maybe even longer, so for those in deeper leagues looking for a spark, Hyland could be near the top of the list of best pickups.
Yves Missi: Earning Bigger Role
Missi has not scored in double figures since late January, but he's still on the rise today. Some of that has to do with his rebounding marks of late, while some of it is because he's playing a bigger role the past couple games.
Missi has 27 rebounds over his past three contests. He has 15 points, seven assists, eight blocks and one steal over that span as well.
Missi played 19 minutes in the first game of that stretch. He then logged 25 minutes in the middle game before starting and logging 28 minutes in his last appearance.
A bigger role should mean a chance at higher fantasy production, so it makes sense to see Missi on the rise today. He's another option just in deeper leagues, but he could be useful to several of you, especially if you have a need at center.
At least consider streaming Missi in more deeper leagues for a little while.
De'Anthony Melton: Double Figures in Four Straight
Melton went off for 27 points in his last contest, but has topped 20 points in three of his past four games. He has scored 12, 22 and 23 points in the other three contests over that stretch.
Melton isn't just scoring either. Over those four games, he's totaled 20 rebounds, 11 assists, eight steals and three blocks.
He's started all four of those games as well. Melton has played between 20-30 minutes, and been over 24 minutes in three of the contests.
Melton is taking advantage of extra opportunities as Stephen Curry continues to miss games. Jimmy Butler III is also out (for the season) and Al Horford, Moses Moody, Gary Payton II and Quinten Post are among the other Warriors on the injury report.
The more injuries the team is dealing with, the bigger chance Melton has to deliver for fantasy owners. He's a better deep-league option in the long run, but could be a standard league streaming option in a pinch for a little while, especially if several of his teammates remain out.
Leonard Miller: Trending Up of Late
Miller has also scored in double figures in four straight games. He's tallied 10, 14, 15 and 17 points over that stretch - it's worth noting that his scoring has gone down in each game in that stretch.
Miller has added 35 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and three blocks in that four-game stretch, so that makes up for some lower-scoring games.
Miller has importantly started all four of those contests. He's logged 28, 36, 31 and 38 minutes in those games.
He's taken on a bigger role since being traded from Minnesota to Chicago. The Bulls aren't a very good team, but the opportunity to deliver is now there for Miller, and he's contributing a bit more of late.
It helps his cause that several teammates are out, including Anfernee Simons, Collin Sexton, Jaden Ivey and Isaac Okoro. Take advantage of things with Miller while you can.
Ty Jerome: Delivering when Active
Jerome has been great since returning from an injury, but missed games are holding him back from being rostered in all fantasy leagues.
He returned on January 31, but has played in 12 of the 21 games since. Jerome is averaging 20.1 points, 5.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 0.2 blocks per 22.1 minutes a game so far.
There's enough fantasy value in those numbers to utilize him in a lot of leagues when he's active, but he's really a streaming option because of all the missed games.
Jerome isn't on the injury report for the team's game on Wednesday, so you should see him on the rise. Watch his status and stream him (in any fantasy setups) when he's active the rest of the season.
