Emerging Fantasy Basketball Contributors to Target Now
Ayo Dosunmu, Cameron Johnson, Andre Drummond and Cody Williams highlight another group of fantasy basketball waiver wire options for the week.
Let's go over a second round of fantasy basketball pickups for the week!
Here's the first story we did (we won't cover anyone from that article). Also be sure to check out Tuesday's streaming article.
Waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Ayo Dosunmu: Delivering in Bigger Role
Dosunmu is rostered in 54% of leagues right now - that's up 5% from two days ago.
Dosumnu has seen his numbers drop since joining the Timberwolves near the trade deadline. He's picked things up of late though.
He's scored in double figures in three straight appearances. Dosunmu has more importantly played 31 and 32 minutes the past two games. He's combined for 30 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists in those contests.
Anthony Edwards is out for Tuesday's game, and Naz Reid is questionable with an injury. Their absences will only help Dosunmu's cause.
Dosunmu is worth adding in deeper leagues, and he's a standard league streaming option, especially if Reid is out for Tuesday's game.
Cameron Johnson: Healthy and Producing
Johnson is up 8% from the start of the week. He's owned in 54% of leagues.
Johnson has missed far too many games this season, but he's been active for the past five contests. Importantly, he's delivered pretty good results in all those games.
Over his past three, he's tallied 17, 15 and 18 points. He's combined for 11 rebounds, eight assists and three steals and blocks over those contests.
He's started every game he's appeared in this season, and played 30 and 43 minutes the past two contests. Things are looking positive for Johnson, and that's why he's on the rise.
Peyton Watson is the only Nugget who is out with an injury right now, and his return likely won't change a ton for Johnson. At least utilize Johnson for the meantime.
He's another good deep-league option, and with what he's done of late, he's also a standard league streaming option.
Andre Drummond: Streaming Option
Drummond is up about 5% today and he now sits around 16% owned.
Drummond only has big-time fantasy upside when he's active and Joel Embiid is out. Embiid is out a couple more games, so Drummond is on the rise today.
He played 35 minutes off the bench in the team's last game. Drummond posted six points, 17 rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Drummond actually hasn't scored in double figures in any of his past five appearances. He makes up for that with good rebounding marks. Drummond recently missed three games as well, so he's a bit more available than usual.
He might be slipping under the radar because he doesn't score a ton of points, but Drummond can be a decent fantasy asset with all those rebounds, and some pretty well-rounded performances.
Along with Embiid being out for the team's next game, Paul George, Tyrese Maxey and Kelly Oubre Jr. are a couple other big-time players who will be out. Dalen Terry and Jabari Walker are others on the injury report, leaving more production open for Drummond to take on.
He's just a deep-league fantasy asset in my eyes, but he should be owned in more leagues right now. Give him an add and enjoy his expanded role for the next game, at least.
Cody Williams: Double Figures in Six Straight
Williams is up about 10% so far this week. He's rostered in 38% of leagues right now.
Williams' season-long numbers aren't super impressive. He's averaging 7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks over 22.1 minutes a game over 54 contests.
He's turned things up of late though, scoring in double figures in six straight. Williams recorded 34 points in his last outing. Over that six-game stretch, Williams is averaging 16.8 points per game.
Williams is also averaging 5.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 1 steal and 0.5 blocks over 38 minutes per game in that five-game stretch. The scoring is great, but Williams has been a pretty-well-rounded player in his expanded role.
His overall own percentage says he's just a deep-league option, but I wouldn't stop there. Williams is playing and producing enough of late to stream in some standard leagues as well.
Utah's season has been over for a while, and injuries are stacking up. Among the players on the injury report are Walker Kessler, Jaren Jackson Jr., Jusuf Nurkic (those three are out for the season), Ace Bailey, Isaiah Collier, Kyle Filipowski, Keyonte George, John Konchar and Lauri Markkanen.
Out of necessity, Williams needs to play more. If most of those day-to-day injuries hold players out for the team's next game, that's when Williams becomes streamable in standard leagues. Don't overlook him.
