Fantasy Basketball Impact: Breaking Down Wednesday Night’s NBA Trade Flurry
The Porzingis-for-Kuminga deal leads a busy Wednesday night of NBA trades with fantasy ramifications across the league.
A few more NBA trades went down on Wednesday afternoon/night, so let's cover them all here.

Ball, Landale Dealt in Three-Team Deal
Lonzo Ball was sent from Cleveland to Utah, while Jock Landale went from the Jazz to the Hawks in a three-team deal. Cleveland received two future second-round picks in the deal, while Utah also got cash considerations.
Ball is expected to be waived, which will make him free to sign with anyone else.
Landale was enjoying a breakout season for Memphis, and now will likely fill a reserve role in Atlanta. He's an option at center behind Onyeka Okongwu. The trade is a detriment to Landale's fantasy outlook, so move off him in a good amount of leagues.
Ball hadn't been playing much, so maybe the trade/waive can help him land with a team with a need at point guard. He could then maybe earn enough playing time to be a deep-league fantasy asset.
Raptors Adds Jackson-Davis
Toronto traded a 2026 second-round pick for Trayce Jackson-Davis.
Jackson-Davis has seen his role shrink in his third year in Golden State. Maybe a change of scenery can help him reach new NBA heights.
He'll be a power forward/center option in Toronto, where Scottie Barnes and Collin Murray-Boyles are currently starting. Toronto still has Jakob Poeltl at center too, but trading for TJD might mean Poeltl is on his way out.
Jackson-Davis still isn't likely to be that big of an asset for Toronto, but we'll track him regardless in case he takes off.
Golden State completely rearranged its team last night (we'll discuss more shortly), but trading away Jackson-Davis didn't really do a whole lot. We'll explain more in a second.
Knicks-Bulls Complete Trade
The Knicks acquired Dalen Terry and sent Guerschon Yabusele to the Bulls.
Yabusele wasn't playing much for New York this season. Chicago needed some more big man help after a flurry of trades, and Yabusele accomplishes that. He could end up backing up Jalen Smith at center, and he's also an option at power forward.
This trade should work in Yabusele's favor, but he's still probably a deep-league asset only.
Terry held a small role with Chicago this season. I think it's going to be hard for him to play even a bit in New York. The Knicks have a good starting five and a nice set up backups, so we'll see if Terry ever factors in enough for any fantasy relevance.
Kuminga, Porzingis Part of Big Trade
The big trade last evening/night was the Warriors and Hawks swapping players. Kristaps Porzingis is headed to Golden State, with Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield going to Atlanta.
It's been another oft-injured/out season for Porzingis. He's only played in 17 games so far, and he's out right now with an illness, and hasn't played since January 7.
He would be the starting center for the Warriors if he's ever able to take the court again. Al Horford will be his top backup, and Quinten Post and Draymond Green are also options at center.
Green will otherwise start at power forward. Horford, Porzingis, Gui Santos and Moses Moody are some other options there for the time being.
Moody is the starting small forward after the season-ending injury to Jimmy Butler III. Gary Payton II, De'Anthony Melton, Santos and Will Richard are additional options there.
Stephen Curry and Brandin Podziemski hold down the guard spots. Melton, Richard, Pat Spencer and Payton are other options at the guard spots.
The move is a positive for the Warriors, but that is only if Porzingis plays. It's kind of a weird deal for a team looking to win now, but maybe Porzingis' illness isn't really a big issue. Losing Kuminga and Hield opens minutes for Moody, Podziemski, Richard, Payton, Melton, Santos and others.
I'm not so sure that Golden State is done trading either.
I like the move for Atlanta, which deepens its team/rotation.
Okongwu and Jalen Johnson are the starters at the 5 and 4 spots already, but moving on from Porzingis opens minutes for others at those spots. Kuminga will be an option when he's healthy enough to play again. Landale is a good option as well. Mouhamed Gueye, Asa Newell and Christian Koloko are other options at the 4 or 5.
Hield will help out at the 2 and 3 spots most likely. Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Zaccharie Risacher are the starters at those spots, with Luke Kennard, Corey Kispert, CJ McCollum and Dyson Daniels some other options.
Daniels is the point guard after the Hawks traded Trae Young away. McCollum and Kennard are backup options there.
The Hawks are a deeper team after the trade, and it should help the team lock down a playoff spot and maybe surprise a bit in the postseason if the team stays healthy. The team belongs to Johnson now, and there's enough talent to make some noise this season.
Hornets add Jones
Charlotte acquired Tyus Jones and two second-round picks in exchange for cash considerations. Orlando is essentially dumping Jones. The Hornets had to waive Pat Connaughton to make the deal work.
Charlotte has an overabundance of guards, so I'd expect more deals to be made on Thursday before the deadline. The Hornets have LaMelo Ball, Coby White, Mike Conley, Jones and Tre Mann at point guard.
It'd make the most sense to see Conley waived, which would make it a bit easier for Jones to play in Charlotte. I still wouldn't love his outlook.
Moving on from Connaughton doesn't do much, as he wasn't playing a whole lot anyways.
The Hornets are a team on the rise, and they've been busy at the deadline, adding White, Conley and Jones. Another deal could be coming on Thursday, so we'll keep our eyes peeled for that.
Orlando is a little thin at point guard after the trade, so another deal could be coming from the Magic as well. Jalen Suggs is the starting point guard, with Anthony Black and Jase Richardson as additional options at the moment.
It's not a big trade for Orlando, but it does slightly increase the fantasy outlooks for Black and Richardson in those backup point guard roles. Again though, I wouldn't be surprised if the Magic make some more moves to fortify that position today.
