Ewing Leads Top Fantasy Baseball Hitter Pickups for Tuesday

A.J. Ewing - New York Mets

Ewing has risen 11.58% already today, and sits at 15% overall now.

Ewing is reportedly being called up to the big leagues. As the No. 78 prospect in baseball, he has a lot of hype surrounding him.

The 21-year-old outfielder and second baseman was taken in the 2023 draft, going 134th overall. Ewing has a 55 overall grade, with his highest tool being his running (70). He has a 55 for hitting, 40 for power, 60 for fielding and 50 for his arm.

In parts of four minor league seasons, Ewing has a .290 average and .447 on-base percentage. He has played in 251 games and logged 267 hits, including 49 doubles, 15 triples and 15 home runs. Ewing also has 118 RBIs, 174 runs scored, 101 stolen bases, 158 walks and 240 strikeouts.

Across 30 games at Double-A and Triple-A this season, Ewing hit .339 and got on base at a .447 clip. The Mets decided that he'd proved enough in the minor leagues, and are going to give him a crack at the big leagues now. New York could use the help, as the team and offense is struggling.

The Mets aren't calling Ewing up to sit, so expect him to be in the lineup daily. If he can slot into multiple fantasy spots, his fantasy value just increases.

He's a guy to add in some deeper leagues today, and watch if you aren't ready to add him today. Ewing could excel early on and be worth adding in more deeper leagues, or even some standard leagues.

Henry Bolte and Zack Gelof - Athletics

Bolte is up 10.87% and is rostered in 20.5% of leagues overall. Gelof is at 20% owned after barely being owned as of May 7.

Bolte is the team's No. 5 prospect and is getting called up to the big leagues. Gelof has hit well of late in the big leagues, so that's why he's on the rise.

Bolte is a 22-year-old outfielder who was picked 56th overall in the 2022 draft. He has a 50 overall grade as a prospect, with his highest tool being his running (65). Bolte has a 55 for his power, 45 for hitting, and 50s for his arm and fielding.

In parts of five minor league seasons, Bolte has a .276 average and .374 OBP over 397 contests. He has 413 hits, including 50 homers, 76 doubles and 22 triples. Bolte has 202 walks, 139 stolen bases, 281 runs scored, 227 RBIs and 552 strikeouts.

There's a lot to like in those numbers, but the strikeout total is hard to ignore. He could be another slugger who strikes out a bunch in the big leagues, but we'll have to just wait and see what he can do for an average and OBP.

He's worth adding in some really deep leagues, but without the hype of a high-end prospect, he's more one to keep tabs on. You never know how a player will fare when they get to the big leagues, so keep tabs on Bolte.

As for Gelof, he has a hit in all of his appearances this month, and is riding a nine-game hitting streak overall. He has two homers, a triple and a double in that span, plus seven RBIs, six runs scored, four walks and nine strikeouts.

Overall in 24 games and 69 plate appearances this season, Gelof has a .274 average and .328 OBP. He has three homers, two doubles and a triple among his 17 total hits, plus 11 RBIs, 12 runs scored, two stolen bases, five walks and 18 strikeouts.

He's played second and third base and center field this season - the more positions he's eligible at, the better. Gelof is someone to add and utilize in deeper leagues, and if he keeps producing, he could maybe sneak into standard leagues eventually.

Brayan Rocchio - Cleveland Guardians

Rocchio has been added in 5.1% of leagues, which brings his overall mark to 33.67%.

He had a four-hit game on Sunday, then had a single, two RBIs and a stolen base on Monday. He sits with a .277 average and .357 OBP over 41 games and 156 plate appearances this season.

Rocchio has 38 total hits, including five doubles and three home runs. He has 21 RBIs, 17 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 14 walks and 14 strikeouts.

The primary shortstop can also play second base, so that ups his fantasy value a bit. Rocchio is a pretty solid deep-league asset, but not someone to own in all deeper leagues. Look into adding him for a little while, at least until his bat cools off, especially if you need middle infield help.
