Fantasy Football Week 2 WR Start/Sit: Terry McLaurin, Marvin Harrison Jr., and More

Fantasy owners can often find wide receivers on the waiver wire more readily available than any other position. It's a passing league, and many teams have two feasible players who can be fantasy assets, something that's not true at any other position. It's all about finding the right matchups, though, and that's what we're here to do today.

Let's look at three wide receivers to start and three to sit in Week 2 of the fantasy football season. Most stats are from NFL.com, and fantasy points and rankings are from FantasyPros.

Start

Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago Bears

The Bears might be my favorite team right now to go after in the passing game. I've talked about Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz, and T.J. Hockenson so far this week, so why not continue the train with Minnesota's second receiver. You're starting Justin Jefferson no matter what, but Addison is more in that WR3/4/flex region with a ton of other guys each week.

Addison was on the field for 83% of the snaps in Week 1 but didn't catch a single pass while being targeted twice. It's a highly disappointing start for a guy who is eligible for an extension and surely wants to get a huge raise. His outlook is much better in this one, making Addison a guy with WR2 upside.

Chicago allowed the fifth-most yards per pass attempt and the third-most fantasy points to wide receivers last season. They let Bryce Young throw for 361 yards in Week 1, and Jalen Coker and Tetairoa McMillan combined for over 200 receiving yards. There will be plenty to go around, making Addison an appealing player after his dud in the opener.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders @ Dallas Cowboys

You might see this name and think that McLaurin is a weekly starter and doesn't need to be listed here, but that hasn't been the case in over a year. While he only played 10 games last season, McLaurin didn't reach 100 yards in any of them and scored just three touchdowns. His opener was anonymous this year: Two catches for 14 yards.

This is more about the matchup, as the Cowboys allowed the second-most yards per pass attempt in 2025 and the most fantasy points to wide receivers. There's not much to talk about here; Dallas is maybe my second favorite passing-game target after the Bears.

There's a little competition for targets in Washington with Stefon Diggs now in town, and third-round rookie Antonio Williams actually led the team in receiving in the opening game. McLaurin will have his days, though, and this could be one of them with the matchup heavily in his favor.

Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson, Houston Texans vs. Cincinnati Bengals

We'll finish the start section with a pair of players who may have gotten a bump from news that came out recently, as Nico Collins suffered a hamstring injury in practice and is questionable for this game. His absence would leave eight to 10 targets available for other pass catchers.

Neither guy has made much of an impact in their short careers, and Kayshon Boutte is also around to be part of the equation, so this is a risky play with either player. All three Houston receivers are WR3/4/flex guys at best, but if you're in a deeper league or find yourself without a replacement for Collins late in the week, any of the three are probably available to be picked up.

Cincinnati offers a very good matchup, having allowed the fourth-most yards per pass attempt last season, though they were better against wide receivers (and struggled hard against tight ends). Tampa Bay's top two receivers combined for nine catches and 103 yards in Week 1 against the Bengals, not great production but also not too bad. This is more of a low-level streaming option than a potential goldmine.

Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Parker Washington, Jacksonville Jaguars @ Denver Broncos

We'll start with three players who fell a bit in fantasy drafts because they all take away from each other's ceiling. Well, that's the same issue every week, as we can try to guess which Jacksonville receiver(s) will get the chance to lead the way.

In Week 1, Washington was the top guy with five receptions, 83 yards, and a touchdown, while both Meyers and Thomas had 40 yards (and Meyers scored also). Washington led the team in every receiving category last season also (aside from Travis Etienne Jr. having one more touchdown), so we might see him emerge as the best player from the group on a regular basis. This is a strong set of players for Trevor Lawrence.

The problem here is the matchup, as the Broncos have been stout defensively for several years and gave up the second-fewest yards per pass attempt and the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to wide receivers in 2025. While they let Kansas City score 31 points on Monday night, most of that damage was done on the ground: Patrick Mahomes had 184 passing yards, and KC wide receivers combined for just 37 receiving yards (no, that's not a typo).

These three receivers will take away a bit from each other, and the tough matchup will make it harder for everyone in the passing game. Washington is probably worth a spot in your lineup, but the other two are more questionable options, and I even have pause when it comes to Washington.

Carnell Tate and Wan'Dale Robinson, Tennessee Titans vs. Philadelphia Eagles

We'll go with another whole wide receiver group here, as things are likely to be tough for Tennessee's receivers all year long. We have to give young quarterbacks time to develop and get comfortable, but Cam Ward just hasn't looked good through his first season-plus, and that will affect his receivers. While it's fair to say that Ward hasn't had a great supporting cast, these are guys who could use a QB helping them right now rather than the other way around.

Both Tate and Robinson had 38 yards in Week 1 against the Jets; I don't need to tell you that the Eagles are far from the Jets. Philadelphia allowed the fifth-fewest yards per pass attempt and the sixth-fewest fantasy points per game to WRs last season. They held Jayden Daniels to just 4.8 yards per pass in Week 1, showing that this can again be a dominant defense.

This could be an ugly game, and the Titans are likely to be hurting for offense. I don't trust either of these receivers to put up numbers, seeing them as must-bench players this week.

Marvin Harrison Jr., Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks

We could do the same group experiment here and list Kendrick Bourne (who surprisingly led Arizona WRs in Week 1) and Michael Wilson as players to sit; I'm not a fan of putting either of them in my lineup this week. Arizona has thrown the ball a ton the past two seasons with Jacoby Brissett in the lineup, though, so some volume may add up for one or both guys. I'd rather focus on Harrison here.

Entering the league as a top-five pick, Harrison was seen as a can't-miss prospect who would be a star right away. Instead, he has been just OK, having a good rookie season but failing to grow on those numbers last year while missing five games. Harrison caught just one pass in Week 1, though it did go for 33 yards. Bourne and Wilson combined for 13 catches, and Trey McBride had nine himself.

The matchup here also couldn't be much worse, as the Seahawks allowed the fewest yards per pass attempt and the seventh-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers last season. Seattle held Drake Maye to 5.4 yards per pass attempt in Week 1, giving up less than 100 total yards to New England's wide receivers.

While the Cardinals might throw a lot again, the matchup puts each Arizona receiver at risk of a slow game, and Harrison, in particular, is a guy I don't anywhere near my lineup.
