Should You Add Joe Flacco?

Flacco was a big fantasy waiver wire add going into week 8, and he'll remain among the top QB adds for week 9.

He was 21-of-34 passing for 223 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Flacco added 14 rushing yards and a score on two carries, while being sacked once and avoiding a fumble.

Flacco has found new life with the Bengals, and is definitely trending up as a fantasy asset. He's got a pretty solid matchup coming against the Bears too, so he's definitely a QB pickup I like for week 9.

Cincy will be desperate for a win after blowing a lead against the Jets, and the offense functions best when someone is slinging the ball around. I expect Flacco to deliver another big fantasy showing, so he'd be my favorite waiver wire add for week 9, depending on who else your league has available - he's my favorite of the QBs I'll be discussing in this article.

Should You Add Tua Tagovailoa?

Tagovailoa helped the Dolphins to a lopsided win over the Falcons. He was 20-of-26 passing for 205 yards, four scores and no picks.

Tagovailoa didn't attempt a rush and was sacked just once, while also avoiding a fumble. It was his best fantasy showing of the season.

He will get a chance to keep things rolling on a short week against the Ravens, who are a super favorable fantasy matchup for quarterbacks. I know Tagovailoa has disappointed at times this season, but coming off a big game and going into a favorable matchup, I think Tagovailoa could be a sneaky good fantasy asset for week 9.

Should You Add C.J. Stroud?

Stroud completed 30 of his 39 passes for 318 yards, two scores and a pick in a win over the Niners. He added 30 rushing yards on seven attempts, didn't take a sack and also didn't fumble.

It was one of his better fantasy showings of the season, which should make it a bit easier to trust him in week 9, and beyond. He has the Broncos next - Denver is a very tough fantasy matchup for quarterbacks, so that's a big negative against adding Stroud.

I don't like that matchup much, so Stroud won't rank very highly for me in week 9. He's an OK deep-league option, but I'd do my best to avoid him in standard leagues, even with four other teams on byes.

I just think you can do better than Stroud in that matchup.

Should You Add Justin Fields?

Fields may have saved his starting job, at least for the time being. He was 21-of-32 passing for 244 yards, a touchdown and no picks in the team's win over Cincinnati. He added 31 rushing yards on 11 carries, avoided a sack and also didn't fumble.

It was a nice bounceback outing for Fields, who had been terrible over the previous two games, and was trending toward not starting in week 8. Tyrod Taylor was hurt, so Fields got the call, and I'd assume he starts in week 10 as well.

You might notice that I didn't write week 9 - that's because the Jets have their bye week coming up. That will halt the positive feelings for Fields and the Jets, and also give Taylor time to heal up.

That makes Fields a very risky add in standard leagues for this week. I'd only consider adding him in deeper leagues, and only add him as a secondary option, as he isn't even going to play in week 9.

If you still believe in Fields, he's a name to keep tabs on going into week 10. I don't believe in him and would take this opportunity to sell him high where I could.

Should You Add Jaxson Dart?

Dart and the Giants lost to the Eagles on Sunday, but Dart still had a decent fantasy showing.

He was 14-of-24 passing for 193 yards, a score and no picks. Dart added 17 rushing yards and a score on six attempts. He avoided a fumble, but did take five sacks.

Dart had his second-worst fantasy showing in five tries, which more says that he's been a bit slept on as a fantasy asset so far. His dual-threat ability makes him a solid option, even in some tougher matchups.

He'll have a pretty average matchup against the Niners in week 9, so I'd be more than happy to add and play him this coming week, and that goes for any league type.

Should You Add Mac Jones or Brock Purdy?

The other quarterback in that contest will either be Jones or Purdy. Purdy has missed several games already with injuries, so his status will be one to watch.

Whoever starts will have a stellar matchup against the Giants, so they both get listed here this week.

Over six starts, Jones is 4-2. He's averaged 266.2 passing yards a game, and has eight touchdown passes and five picks. Jones has added 57 rushing yards on 23 attempts.

Purdy has made two starts, with the team splitting those contests. He has averaged 293 passing yards a game, but has four touchdowns and four interceptions. Purdy has 30 rushing yards on seven attempts, and might not run as much since the injury that's hampered him has been a toe ailment.

I still like the matchup enough to try Jones or Purdy in a decent amount of leagues. I still like Purdy over Jones, but it's honestly a lot closer than a lot of people think.

Should You Add Aaron Rodgers?

Rodgers was outdueled by Jordan Love on Sunday night, but the aging QB still put up some decent numbers.

He was 24-of-36 passing for 219 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Rodgers didn't attempt a rush, was sacked three times and didn't fumble.

Rodgers has been an average-or-better fantasy asset in three straight games, but he's still a bit overlooked as a fantasy asset. He has a pretty average test coming against the Colts, so it's a chance for the QB to be average, or better, himself.

He's at least worth some deep-league starts, and in a pinch, could be useful for some standard leaguers out there.

Should You Add Kyler Murray or Jacoby Brissett?

Most expect Murray to return to the field in week 9, but Brissett wouldn't be a half-bad streaming option either if he gets another start.

Whoever starts will have the best fantasy matchup a quarterback could have. Dallas has struggled to slow fantasy quarterbacks all season, and they've pretty easily been the worst.

Murray offers more fantasy upside because of his dual-threat ability, but Brissett has shown enough in a couple starts to at least get some fantasy attention in deeper leagues if he ends up starting.

Murray is available in a good amount of leagues after missing a couple weeks, so scoop him up and hope for a big fantasy showing from him. If he ends up missing another game, you could pivot to another streaming option later in the week.

I'd only add Brissett if he was named the starter. There's no point in rostering him outside extremely deep leagues otherwise.

Should You Add Sam Darnold?

The last waiver wire QB I'd be happy to add is Darnold. He and the Seahawks were on a bye in week 8.

Darnold has been a better fantasy asset than most realize this season, and most importantly, has a good matchup for week 9. He will be facing the Commanders.

Not only has Washington struggled to slow opposing fantasy QBs this season, but it will be coming off a short week, as the team plays Monday night.

I think Darnold could really be a good asset for week 9, but he could slide under the radar because he didn't play this past week. Take a look at Darnold's numbers, then after factoring in a favorable matchup, you should see what makes him a nice fantasy option for the coming week.
