Fantasy Football Week 6 Tight End Who Should I Start? Jake Ferguson, David Njoku, and More

Comparing Kyle Pitts to four tight ends that he has been matched up with often on the FantasySP Who Should I Start? tool.

Heading into the season, Kyle Pitts Sr. had transcended into a meme, the embodiment of the players that fantasy owners talk themselves into every season only to be disappointed over and over.

Some variation of, “When you got day drunk and now you're on the clock in the sixth round with Kyle Pitts on the board,” was all over TikTok, Instagram, and every other corner of the internet. Then the season started, and he has been…fine.

Pitts ranked in the back half of the top 10 in both standard and PPR scoring over the first four weeks (Atlanta had a bye in Week 5), and he has been a completely reasonable tight end while finishing in the top five at the position only once. His usability has fantasy owners wondering if he's ready to jump back to fantasy relevance after the week off.

Because of that, Pitts has shown up all over our FantasySP start/sit tool. Let's look at the Atlanta tight end and four other players at his position who he has been compared to often on the tool. Most stats are from NFL.com.

Use FantasySP's Who Should I Start? tool to compare players and help make your toughest lineup decisions each week!

Kyle Pitts Sr., Atlanta Falcons vs. Buffalo Bills

I mentioned that Pitts has been decent, particularly in Weeks 1 and 4, when he combined for 12 receptions, 129 yards, and a touchdown. He was quieter in the middle games, with eight receptions and 76 yards, but at least he hasn't been completely shut out in any game, even when he had lower scores.

The matchup here is about as tough as could be. The Bills have allowed the fourth-fewest yards per pass attempt and the second-fewest fantasy points per game to tight ends. Buffalo has been stingy against tight ends in fantasy every season since 2019, so it's not a surprise to see them back amongst the best.

Pitts' fantasy value fluctuates depending on the matchup. That's bad news in Week 6, as the Bills give Pitts a negative outlook and make him only a deep-league option who is a little better in PPR.

Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens vs. Los Angeles Rams

Andrews has the name recognition of a star, but he hasn't shown that level of play often in 2025. He has only had one truly good game which came in Week 3 against the Lions, when Andrews caught six passes for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

Lamar Jackson is going to miss this game also, leaving Andrews with a backup quarterback in Cooper Rush who struggled mightily last week. The tight end caught just two passes for 22 yards in a tough matchup against Houston.

The Rams are right in the middle in both yards per pass attempt allowed and fantasy points given up to tight ends. LA has a good defense, and I'm willing to bet that they will grade out a little better by the end of the season.

With a middling matchup at best and a backup quarterback, I can't recommend Andrews. The same goes for his position-mate, Isaiah Likely.

Advice: Don't start either player; you can find a better option. If you absolutely must, though, then start Kyle Pitts over Mark Andrews because at least he has his starting quarterback.

Harold Fannin and David Njoku, Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers

I've been talking about not being about to separate these players all week. Fannin and Njoku have nearly the same stats and rank right next to each other in fantasy scoring and projections for Week 6. Both players get on the field together and contribute in the passing game at a modest level.

The matchup is a great one here, as the Steelers have allowed the fifth-most yards per pass attempt and fourth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends. It's curious that Pittsburgh has been so bad on defense, as they still have stars in place, and it's easy to think they will improve, but they have been very giving so far.

These are two of the top three receivers on Cleveland along with Jerry Jeudy (and they might be the top two). Between their high involvement and the great matchup, both tight ends are good fantasy options in Week 6.

Advice: Start both Harold Fannin and David Njoku over Mark Andrews, and I'll give the slight edge to Njoku over Fannin.

Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys @ Carolina Panthers

Ferguson leads all tight ends with 48 targets and 41 receptions. Trey McBride is six targets and 12 receptions behind in second place. The Dallas tight end also leads his team by 11 targets and 18 receptions.

He has been terribly inefficient, averaging just 6.6 yards per reception on his way to 272 yards; Ferguson's career rate is 9.0. Finding the end zone has also helped, as Ferguson's three touchdowns help him to a second-place ranking in standard scoring and by far the TE1 spot in PPR.

The Panthers have allowed the 14th-least yards per pass attempt, but they have been highly vulnerable against tight ends, giving up the second-most fantasy points per game to the position. The tight ends for the Cardinals and Dolphins went over 100 receiving yards against Carolina, and the Jaguars and Patriots topped 60 yards at the position.

I'm holding onto the belief that Carolina is worse against the pass overall than they have shown so far; combining that with their struggles against tight ends creates a great outlook for Ferguson, who is a PPR star right now.

Advice: Start Jake Ferguson over Kyle Pitts Sr.
