The second Sunday of the NFL regular season is in the books!

Before we turn our attention to a pair of Monday night games, let's go over some fantasy football takeaways from Sunday. Here is the takeaway story from the Thursday night game.

Lions Bounce Back

After a rough showing against the Packers in week 1, the Lions' offense roared back to life in week 2 against the Bears.

Detroit scored 52 points and racked up 511 total yards. So it appears that the Packers' defense is just on another level, while the Lions' offense will be just fine without Ben Johnson around.

Jared Goff was 23-of-28 passing for 334 yards, five scores and no picks. He obviously won't play like this every week, but now that he's shown he can deliver without Johnson, it will be easier to stream and start him in the coming weeks.

Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery each scored once on the ground. Gibbs rushed for 94 yards and a score on 12 carries, while adding 10 receiving yards on three catches and targets. Montgomery had 57 yards and a score on the ground, while adding a four-yard reception on his lone target.

Gibbs is a must-start player every week, and Montgomery showed that he too could be a good weekly asset again.

Amon-Ra St. Brown had a monster fantasy outing, collecting 115 yards and three scores on nine grabs and 11 targets. He also rushed twice for seven yards.

Any concerns there were about him and the Lions' offense were squashed after this performance.

Jameson Williams only had two catches across his four targets, but the receptions went for 108 yards and a score, so he too delivered a good fantasy outing, and showed he could be a starting option moving forward.

One of the few underperformers was tight end Sam LaPorta. He made three grabs for 26 yards across four targets. He lost a TD to fellow TE Brock Wright.

There were several times last year when the Lions' offense starred, but LaPorta was underwhelming as a fantasy asset. Hopefully that doesn't happen again this season, but it's worth monitoring moving forward.

Odunze Emerging as Bears WR1?

In the Bears' blowout loss, Rome Odunze turned heads with his performance.

He went for 128 yards and two scores on seven grabs and 11 targets. Odunze played all 68 offensive snaps, with no other skill player going over 61.

Odunze looks to be the top fantasy pass catcher, and offensive player overall, for the Bears right now. He's outproducing D.J. Moore, and for now Cole Kmet is cancelling out Colston Loveland and Luther Burden.

There's not many Bears' offensive players I trust when Caleb Williams is at quarterback, but Odunze has definitely given you enough reasons to start him moving forward.

Russ Turns Back the Clock

Russell Wilson was pretty stellar for the Giants in week 2, but it resulted in an overtime loss to the Cowboys.

He was 30-of-41 passing for 450 yards and three scores. He threw a costly interception in overtime. Wilson also rushed three times for 23 yards.

Dallas' defense was torched in this one, but it did show that Wilson has a little gas in the tank still. I viewed the Giants as a sleeper in the NFC this season, and while they might not win a bunch, they are going to be a pest at times.

Wilson will have streaming potential going forward. It will need to be a pretty favorable matchup to want to stream him in standard leagues though, but after this performance, he's definitely an option.

Robinson Delivers Again

New York's Malik Nabers had a monster game, and is second to ARSB in PPR fantasy points among wideouts, but Giants' teammate Wan'Dale Robinson was also good on Sunday.

Robinson had 142 yards and a score across eight receptions and 10 targets. He played 47 of the team's 67 snaps, which was third behind Nabers and Darius Slayton.

Robinson has delivered back-to-back good fantasy showings, and will definitely be on the fantasy radar going into week 3. We'll see how he stacks up against other wideouts.

Maye Produces in Win

Drake Maye continued his solid start to the season by throwing for 230 yards and two scores and adding another TD on the ground.

Maye was 19-of-23 as a passer. He rushed for 31 yards on 10 carries.

I like how Maye has looked across the first two weeks, and see him as a solid streaming option the rest of the season. I'd still play matchups for now, but more performances like this one could get Maye into a weekly fantasy starter role.

Jones Does It Again

Daniel Jones' week 1 performance had many people calling it a fluke. Well, he delivered again in week 2 in a win over the Broncos - the Colts could really surprise in 2025.

He was 23-of-34 passing for 316 yards and a score, while not throwing a pick. Jones rushed for just two yards on six attempts, but added a score to boost his fantasy score.

This was a tough matchup and Jones delivered again. He's going to be added in a bunch more leagues this week, and could be started in most leagues next week, especially with Joe Burrow now likely out.

Jones is overlooked because of his past, but he's a pretty solid dual-threat option, and could be utilized until he falls off.

Ferguson Steps Up

Going back to the Giants, Cowboys game, Dallas TE Jake Ferguson got rolling a bit.

Ferguson had 78 receiving yards on nine catches and 12 targets. Dallas threw 52 passes, which won't happen every week, but after CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, Ferguson is next in line for pass-catching production in Dallas.

Ferguson played 65 offensive snaps, which was 73% of the team's total. This performance made him a waiver wire option going into week 3, and at least a streaming option for a couple weeks.

Franklin Leads Broncos' Pass Catchers

A couple days ago, I highlighted Troy Franklin in a story that identified possible week 3 waiver wire options.

Well, he stepped up and delivered a 100-yard performance. He had 89 receiving yards and a score on eight catches and nine targets. Franklin added an 11-yard rush.

He easily was the team's top pass catcher, with nobody else over 25 yards even. Franklin played 48 offensive snaps, which was 83% of the team's total. That was the highest among all running backs, wideouts and tight ends.

Franklin has a chance to settle into the WR2 role behind Courtland Sutton. Franklin will have to fend off Marvin Mims, but he might be worth an add in most fantasy leagues, even if it's just to stash him for a week. In deeper leagues, Franklin definitely is worth an add now.

Renfrow Surprises in Loss

Hunter Renfrow ended up being the Panthers' best fantasy pass catcher on Sunday.

He went for just 48 yards, but caught two touchdowns across his seven grabs and nine targets. Renfrow played 69 offensive snaps, which was 81% of the team's total.

He was only outgained and outsnapped by Tetairoa McMillan, the team's top wideout. Renfrow could be emerging ahead of Xavier Legette for the WR2 role.

Renfrow is definitely worth an add in deeper leagues, but it'll probably take another big performance to get him into standard leagues.

Jones, Rattler Show Out in Same Game

A matchup between Mac Jones and Spencer Rattler didn't draw many headlines, but both quarterbacks were pretty good, and deserve a little attention.

Jones was 26-of-39 passing for 279 yards, three scores and no picks in the team's win over New Orleans. He added six rushing yards on six attempts - Jones did lose one of his two fumbles.

Rattler was 25-of-34 passing for 207 yards, three scores and no picks. He rushed for 14 yards on four carries.

Neither guy is likely to be a big-time standard league add, but in deeper leagues, both guys could be decent streaming options, especially in the right matchups. So don't write either guy off because they aren't the biggest of names.

Stevenson Still Leading Pats' Backfield

We'll end by talking about another Patriot.

Stevenson rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries and added 88 receiving yards on five grabs and targets. He played 39 snaps, which was 65% of the team's total.

TreVeyon Henderson played 19 snaps (32%), while Antonio Gibson played 10 snaps (17%). Henderson had 10 rushing yards on three carries and 30 receiving yards on two grabs and targets. Gibson went for 27 rushing yards on five attempts and caught a one-yard pass.

At least this week, it looked like Stevenson still leads the Pats' backfield. This situation is a bit of a mess going into week 3, which makes all these backs risky starting options in standard leagues - we'll see when anyone separates themselves from the pack.
