Fantasy Baseball Weekly Projections: Top Hitters & Pitchers to Stream This Week

Let's open a new work week by going over some fantasy baseball projections to possibly identify some waiver wire/streaming options.

We'll cover hitters and pitchers in the same story today. Let's dive right in!

Hitters

Jung Hoo Lee - San Francisco Giants

Lee has seven games scheduled for the coming week. He is rostered in about 27% of fantasy baseball leagues at the moment.

Lee is on a heater of late, with an eight-game hitting streak as the week starts. He had five hits on Sunday, and has 11 over his past three games combined.

His recent hot stretch has his average to .304 and on-base percentage to .341 after 51 games and 208 plate appearances this season. Lee has 59 total hits, including 12 doubles, three homers and a two triples. He also has 19 RBIs, 24 runs scored, 10 walks and just 22 strikeouts.

The outfielder has been a pretty average fantasy asset over his career, but he's red hot right now and is worth ownership and utilization in more fantasy leagues. He's definitely worth using in all deeper leagues right now, and he could be tried in standard leagues until his bat cools off a bit.

Gabriel Moreno and Nolan Arenado - Arizona Diamondbacks

Moreno and Arenado also have seven games they could play in this week. Moreno is owned in 48% of leagues right now. Arenado is sitting at about 46%.

Moreno had a good month of May, and finished with seven knocks over the final six games. He rose as a fantasy asset last month, so we'll see if he can keep trending up in June.

Moreno has a .265 average and .326 OBP over 35 games and 132 plate appearances for the season. He has 31 total hits, including eight doubles and three home runs. Moreno has 19 RBIs, 18 runs scored, three stolen bases, 11 walks and 27 walks.

The catcher is worth utilizing in most deeper leagues right now. He could even be tried in standard leagues, but I like him more as a deep-league asset for now. He's worth keeping tabs on in case he takes things up another level.

Arenado had a solid month of May, and finished strong too. He had nine knocks over the final 11 contests. He now sits with a .269 average and .350 OBP over his 53 games and 200 plate appearances this season.

Arenado has 11 doubles and seven homers among his 47 total hits. He also has 27 RBIs, 27 runs scored, a stolen base, 18 walks and 38 strikeouts on the season.

Arenado is providing solid fantasy value right now. He's a bit too inconsistent to own in more than deeper leagues, but in hot stretches at the plate, he could be worth short-term adds in standard leagues - maybe this week will be one of those times.

JJ Bleday - Cincinnati Reds

Bleday is sitting near 72% rostered at this time. He only has six games scheduled for the coming week.

He ended May in a big way, with three straight two-hit games. Bleday had four multi-hit games over his final five appearances in the month.

Bleday has played in 30 games, getting 128 plate appearances so far this season. The outfielder has a .303 average and .398 OBP, plus 26 RBIs, 18 runs scored, a stolen base, 18 walks and 22 strikeouts. Bleday has eight doubles, nine homers and a triple among his 33 total hits.

Bleday is hitting enough to definitely own in all deeper fantasy leagues. He's worth utilizing in some standard leagues for as long as his bat is hot, but don't expect him to remain this hot all season.

Jeremy Pena - Houston Astros

Pena is owned in 72% of fantasy leagues as well. He could play up to six games this week.

Pena finished May well, collecting at least one hit in his final seven starts. He had six hits over the final four games combined.

He has a .272 average and .320 OBP over 23 games and 100 plate appearances so far - that's on line with his career marks. Pena has four doubles and three homers among his 25 total hits, plus eight RBIs, 15 runs scored, three stolen bases, four walks and 16 strikeouts.

The fantasy shortstop is at a loaded position, but he's a decent fantasy asset when he's been healthy over his career. Pena is someone to utilize in all deeper fantasy leagues, and a fair amount of standard leagues, especially while he's hitting at the plate. Keep him in mind if you need short-term help this week.

Andrew Vaughn - Milwaukee Brewers

Vaughn is rostered in roughly 21% of leagues. He has seven games he could play in this coming week.

Vaughn had two hits in each of his final two games in May. He had a three-hit game in his start before that, so he's trending up at the plate, but just not starting every game.

Across 20 games and 69 plate appearances so far, Vaughn has a .344 average and .420 OBP. He has seven doubles and a home run among his 21 total knocks, plus eight RBIs, 10 runs scored, six walks and eight strikeouts.

Vaughn is a better deep-league asset for now, at least until he's starting daily. He's worth adding in more deeper leagues, or just streaming whenever he's starting. Keep tabs on him in case his bat stays hot.

Pitchers

Connelly Early - Boston Red Sox 

Early is sitting near 71% owned at this moment. He has starts scheduled against the Orioles and Yankees this week.

The start against the Orioles is solid, while the Yankees are usually an offense to avoid. He faced these teams in his final two starts in April, and fared pretty well for each start, so he's a bit better option than you might think this week.

Over 11 games and 61 innings pitched, Early has a 5-2 record and 2.95 earned run average, which are good marks. Early has allowed 20 runs on 49 hits and 22 walks, while striking out 57 batters along the way.

Early is a very good deep-league option for both of his starts this week. He'll be a standard league streaming option for both starts too, but is a safer option against Baltimore, while being a bit riskier play against the Yankees.

Eduardo Rodriguez - Arizona Diamondbacks

Rodriguez is rostered in 73% of fantasy leagues. He has starts against the Dodgers and Nationals on tap for the coming week.

The Dodgers are obviously no joke, while the Nationals are a pretty favorable matchup on paper. Rodriguez faced LA in his first start of the year, and he allowed an unearned run over five innings. He hasn't faced Washington this year.

With a 2.31 ERA and 5-1 record over 11 starts and 66 1/3 innings, Rodriguez is a pretty good fantasy asset right now. He's allowed 18 runs (17 earned) on 55 hits and 25 walks, while striking out 49 along the way.

Rodriguez is a better streaming option against the Nationals, but he could surprise against the Dodgers too. He's worth starting in all deeper leagues for both starts, at the very least.

Cade Cavalli - Washington Nationals

Cavalli has probable starts lined up against the Marlins and Diamondbacks this week. He's owned in about 54% of leagues.

He has the best pair of scheduled starts of anyone we've covered so far, but he's also the worst fantasy pitcher of the bunch. I love his matchup against Miami, but his Arizona start will be a more average test. He's only faced Miami this season, pitching pretty well over 5 2/3 innings in a no decision.

Cavalli has a 3-3 record over 12 starts, and he sports a 3.62 ERA over 59 2/3 innings. He's allowed 31 runs (24 earned) on 63 hits and 21 walks, while striking out 68 batters along the way.

Cavalli is a decent deep-league option for both of his starts this week - I'd definitely try him in deeper leagues against the Marlins, while being a bit more wary of him against Arizona. He's a standard league streaming option for both starts, but a better option for that Miami start.

Shane Baz - Baltimore Orioles

Baz is rostered in 44% of leagues as the new week starts. He has starts set against the Red Sox and Blue Jays.

The two matchups are pretty good, so I like Baz's scheduled starts the best of any pitcher we've covered here. Baz is the worst pitcher of the four though. He hasn't faced either team this year.

Baz is 2-5 with a 4.48 ERA over 11 starts and 64 1/3 innings. He's allowed 33 runs (32 earned) on 65 hits and 27 walks, while striking out 57 batters.

He's pitched better of late, so he's on the rise as a fantasy asset, but Baz is a better deep-league fantasy asset for both of his starts this week. You could consider him in standard leagues too, but be wary that he could struggle to an average-or-worse fantasy showing.
