Update on Padres Prospects: Leodalis De Vries, Ethan Salas and More

Top Performing Hitters

Zach Evans has the most hits among San Diego hitting prospects under the age of 25. He has 97 total knocks this year. Evans is not ranked among the team's top-30 prospects right now.

Evans is 22 years old and has played 84 games at Single-A this season. He has 17 doubles, three homers and a triple among his hits, along with 48 runs scored, 60 RBIs, 25 walks, 10 stolen bases and 59 strikeouts.

Ryan Jackson has logged 86 hits so far. He also isn't ranked among the top-30 prospects.

Jackson is 23 years old and has played at Single-A and High-A so far. He has 15 doubles, four homers and two triples among his hits. Jackson also has 48 runs scored, 44 RBIs, 69 walks, 15 stolen bases and 62 strikeouts.

Romeo Sanabria has 82 hits thus far. He ranks 16th in the organization. He's 23 years old, plays in Double-A and has a 2026 ETA.

Sanabria has a .285 average and .330 OBP over 75 games this season. Among his hits, he has 13 doubles and eight home runs. Sanabria also has 37 runs scored, 40 RBIs, 21 walks, 67 strikeouts and two stolen bases.

Brandon Butterworth has 79 hits, while Lamar King Jr. has 78 knocks. Butterworth isn't ranked among the team's top-30 prospects, while King is No. 29.

Butterworth has played at High-A all season as a 22-year-old. He has 17 doubles, nine homers and seven triples among his 79 total hits. Butterworth has 56 runs scored, 41 RBIs, 23 walks, 12 stolen bases and 67 strikeouts.

King is a 21-year-old currently playing in Single-A, and he has a 2027 ETA. King has a .292 average and .381 OBP across 71 games this year. He has 22 doubles, four homers and a triple among his 78 total hits, along with 34 RBIs and walks, 48 runs scored, 53 strikeouts and 15 stolen bases.

Top Performing Pitchers

Among qualified pitchers age 25 or younger, Henry Baez leads the Padres with a 2.08 earned run average. He's ranked 12th in the organization.

The 22-year-old is working in Double-A and has a 2026 ETA. He's 3-2 and has covered 86 2/3 innings this season. Baez has 83 strikeouts, 30 walks and a .198 average against him this year.

Dropping things down to at least 30 innings pitched, Garrett Hawkins has the top ERA at 1.70. He's not a top-30 prospect for San Diego.

Hawkins has pitched 27 games in relief, going 6-1 and covering 37 innings. He has 50 strikeouts and 13 walks as well.

Miguel Mendez has a 2.04 ERA this season. He also isn't ranked.

Mendez has made 13 starts at Single-A and High-A. He's covered 61 2/3 innings, striking out 75 batters and walking 24 along the way.

Braden Nett has 82 strikeouts over 71 1/3 innings this season. Jagger Haynes has 80 punchouts over 78 1/3 innings. Nett is ranked ninth in the organization, while Haynes is No. 19.

Nett is 23 years old, pitching in Double-A and has a 2025 ETA. He's 5-4 with a 3.53 ERA over 16 starts. Nett has 82 strikeouts, 34 walks and a .254 average against him.

Haynes is 22 years old and working in Double-A - he has a 2026 ETA. Haynes is 3-2 with a 4.25 ERA this season, while also having 80 strikeouts and 42 walks. He has a .233 average against him.

Top-Ranked Prospects

Leodalis De Vries is the team's top prospect, and ranks third overall in baseball right now. He has a 2027 ETA and is playing in High-A as just an 18-year-old.

De Vries has a .248 average and .359 OBP over 71 games this season. He has 16 doubles, six homers and four triples among his 66 total hits. De Vries also has 40 runs scored and RBIs, 45 walks, 64 strikeouts and six stolen bases this season.

Ethan Salas is the team's second-ranked prospect - he's No. 24 in baseball. The 19-year-old catcher is already in Double-A, and also has a 2027 ETA.

Salas has played in just 10 games so far. Over his minor league career, he has a .221 average and .305 OBP across 187 total games. Salas has 13 homers, 41 doubles and four triples among his 154 total hits, along with 99 RBIs, 83 runs scored and walks, 178 strikeouts and 17 stolen bases.
