Another big NFL transaction just went down, so let's discuss it!

The Broncos and Dolphins just completed a trade, so let's break it down from a real-world and fantasy football perspective.

Here's the latest NFL transaction breakdown we did, which links back to several other articles from this offseason.

The Deal and Some Stats

Denver is getting Jaylen Waddle in the trade - he's the only player included. Denver is also getting a fourth-round pick in this year's draft in the deal.

Miami is receiving a first-round pick (30th overall) this year and third- and fourth-rounders in this year's draft as well.

Waddle is 27 years old and was the sixth overall pick of the Dolphins back in 2021. He's played 78 games over his five NFL seasons, playing at least 14 games in each campaign.

In 16 games last season, Waddle had 910 receiving yards and six scores across 64 receptions and 100 targets.

Waddle had 1,000 or more yards in his first three seasons before falling off a bit in the past two seasons. He's still a very good wideout, but maybe isn't what the Dolphins were looking for in the long run, especially on a rebuilding squad.

Outlook for Waddle on the Broncos

Waddle will start alongside Courtland Sutton in Denver as an outside receiver. Troy Franklin is the likely starter at slot wide receiver.

Denver also has Lil'Jordan Humphrey, Marvin Mims Jr., Pat Bryant and Michael Bandy on the roster (at least for now).

This move definitely deepens the wide receiver room in Denver. It's tough to say who the No. 1 wideout is between Waddle and Sutton, but both should be good weekly fantasy assets.

With Bo Nix at quarterback, he's an upgrade at the position for Waddle, especially considering what Waddle has had to work with the past couple years. It should lead to bigger and better things for Waddle.

Sutton has history with Nix, so I'd say he's the No. 1 wideout for now, but time could help Waddle to that top spot. I think both wideouts are standard league assets, but just might not be weekly starters with the other guy around.

Luckily, the Broncos don't have a go-to tight end (although that could change), so there's room for two receivers to deliver big. Franklin, Humphrey, Mims and Bryant will battle for the secondary looks in the passing game, and if Franklin, Bryant or Mims step up repeatedly, maybe the Broncos eventually move on from Sutton - that's not something I see happening until at least next offseason though.

Anyways, we will have to wait and see what the trade does to Waddle's draft stock. I'd think his ADP will rise at least a few spots because of the trade. Sutton likely will drop a couple spots, and those additional wideouts on the team will drop as well, and probably only be deep-league assets.

The move helps out Nix's fantasy outlook, maybe raising his stock, but not his ADP too much.

Denver's backfield of J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and company aren't affected too much by this trade. Denver could pass it a bit more, but there should be enough work still for the running backs.

Dolphins Outlook Without Waddle

Waddle being moved leaves a massive gap in the team's wideout room. Tyreek Hill was also let go this offseason, so not much talent is left in Miami.

Right now, Tutu Atwell, Jalen Tolbert and Malik Washington could be the starting wideouts - gross. Terrace Marshall Jr., Theo Wease Jr., Tahj Washington and AJ Henning are some depth options.

There's just not much proven talent in that wide receiver room right now. The tight end room (that Greg Dulcich and Ben Sims lead), isn't great either.

There's plenty of offseason left, but I don't expect Miami to add any high-level wideouts in free agency. They will likely add wideouts in the NFL draft, maybe using the pick they just got on someone.

So I wouldn't put too much stock into the current wide receiver room in Miami. Things are likely to change before the regular season comes around.

Things don't look very good for new quarterback Malik Willis. It might not affect his fantasy outlook a ton, as he'd have to use his dual-threat ability more, which leads to more fantasy value.

Willis could definitely use a couple young, talented wideouts to boost his stock a bit though, because what the Dolphins have now for pass catchers is lackluster.

Right now, running back De'Von Achane looks like the only big-time fantasy asset in Miami. Down so many pass catchers, Achane's fantasy outlook is also down in my eyes.

Hopefully they add some more talent, so the defense cannot lock in on Achane all game.

If Miami doesn't add more at wide receiver or tight end, it could help backup RBs Jaylen Wright and Ollie Gordon II take on more in 2026.

Miami's offense is a mess right now though, so they better hope they hit on some draft picks if they don't want to have a historically bad offense in 2026.
