Red Wings and Blues Trade

To the Detroit Red Wings: Justin Faulk

To the St. Louis Blues: Justin Holl, Dmitri Buchelnikov, first-round draft pick (2026), third-round draft pick (2026)

Fantasy Breakdown

The Detroit Red Wings bolster their blueline in a big way at the deadline by acquiring veteran defensemen Faulk from the Blues. A seasoned right shot with a long track record of contributing offensively from the back end, Faulk brings both experience and skill to Detroit's blue line. He's a player who can quarterback a powerplay, move the puck effectively, and log significant minutes in all situations, making this a meaningful upgrade for a Red Wings' team still pushing for positioning down the stretch.

From a fantasy perspective, Faulk instantly becomes relevant in formats that count defensive scoring, powerplay points, or shots from the back end. His presence on Detroit's top two defensive pairings and likely powerplay usage gives him a strong floor in deeper leagues, and even in standard formats he's worth adding if available. Managers in category leagues should especially take note - Faulk's ability to pile up assists and second assists can swing counting stats quickly.

For St. Louis, this move signals their clear pivot toward retooling. Moving a veteran defenseman of Faulk's caliber for draft capital underscores the Blues' focus on the future, especially at the rate in which they have sold off players over this trade deadline.

This trade also highlights Detroit's intent to get tougher and more responsible at both ends of the ice, especially in late‑season and potential playoff matchups. For fantasy managers looking for mid‑season adds, Faulk's consistent usage and diversified scoring approach make him a candidate to target ahead of the weekend's action.

Faulk has 11 goals, 21 assists, and nine powerplay points in 61 games played as a defensemen. He also has 116 shots on goal, 49 hits, 102 blocked shots.

Bruins and Canucks Trade

To the Boston Bruins: Lukas Reichel

To the Vancouver Canucks: Sixth-round draft pick (2026)

Fantasy Breakdown

The Boston Bruins add forward Reichel in a deadline move that brings youthful upside to their forward group. Reichel showed flashes of scoring ability in limited NHL action this season, demonstrating finish around the net and a willingness to drive play at even strength. Boston will likely slot him into a depth scoring role or as a call up with some secondary offensive opportunity, and if he earns consistent minutes, he could be a sneaky fantasy option in deeper formats.

From a fantasy standpoint, Reichel's value is tied closely to opportunity. In a Bruins' lineup that has seen some turnover this season, there's a chance for him to see increased responsibility, particularly if he can find chemistry with established scoring linemates. He hasn't become a must own in standard formats yet, but those in deeper leagues should watch his deployment closely over the next week.

For Vancouver, moving Reichel for a late pick signals intent to either free roster space or adjust future assets. While minor in terms of fantasy impact now, this deal is a reminder that teams can sometimes strike early with players who don't fit long‑term plans, and managers should remain aware of how this affects depth charts moving forward.

Reichel has two goals, three assists, and six penalty minutes in 19 games played as a forward. He also has 15 shots on goal, seven hits, and 11 blocked shots.

Kings and Maple Leafs Trade

To the Los Angeles Kings: Scott Laughton

To the Toronto Maple Leafs: Conditional third‑round draft pick (2026)

Fantasy Breakdown

The Los Angeles Kings bring in Laughton from the Maple Leafs to add size, experience, and depth down the middle. A versatile forward who can skate both center and wing, Laughton brings a track record of reliability, hard forechecking, and defensive responsibility while chipping in secondary scoring. In a Kings' lineup that values two‑way play, he's the kind of veteran who can slide into a third line role with occasional penalty kill deployment.

From a fantasy perspective, Laughton isn't likely to jump into the elite scoring conversation, but in deeper formats, he's someone worth watching, especially in leagues that count hits, faceoff wins, and defensive categories. His ability to eat penalty kill minutes and play in a variety of situations could give him a modest floor, and if he ends up in a slightly expanded role due to injuries or matchups, there's some upside to be had.

For Toronto, moving Laughton for draft capital aligns with their broader deadline strategy - collecting future assets while making room for younger forwards to step up. Maple Leafs managers should monitor how internal roster shifts affect ice time among remaining forwards, as that could indirectly impact fantasy values even after Laughton departs.

Laughton has eight goals, four assists, and 17 penalty minutes in 43 games played as a forward. He also has 53 shots on goal, 77 hits, and 28 blocked shots.

Avalanche and Flames Trade

To the Colorado Avalanche: Nazem Kadri

To the Calgary Flames: Conditional first-round pick (2028), conditional second-round pick (2027), retain 20% of Kadri's salary, Maxmilian Curran, Victor Olofsson

Fantasy Breakdown

The Avalanche bring back Kadri, returning to the team where he previously won a Stanley Cup. Kadri adds scoring depth, playoff experience, and a proven net front presence that could be pivotal in Colorado's push for another deep postseason run.

This move also represents a homecoming for Kadri, as the Avalanche were reportedly his preferred destination, and the Flames worked to make that happen. Kadri's ability to play in multiple situations, including the powerplay and penalty kill, adds immediate real life value to Colorado's forward group.

From a fantasy perspective, Kadri could see a boost depending on his deployment. If he slots into the top-six or receives powerplay minutes, he has the potential to contribute goals, assists, and powerplay points, making him relevant in deeper or category leagues. His veteran experience also makes him a player to monitor in high leverage situations down the stretch.

Kadri is personally my favorite player in the league, so to see him return to Colorado where he won a Stanley Cup, and have the Avalanche also be the top contending team for the Stanley Cup this year is a dream come true for Kadri. He said as much with his post-trade interview with TSN's James Duthie. I see Kardi slotting in as the third line center, and getting significant powerplay time and being a gritty grinder who is not afraid of anything, which is something that Colorado is needing. It's as much of a perfect fit now as it was in 2022.

For Calgary, moving Kadri brings back significant future assets, including a first-round draft pick and additional prospects, while also acquiring Olofsson, a veteran presence for their roster. This positions the Flames to continue stockpiling draft capital and young talent, ensuring long-term flexibility and growth. Fantasy managers in Calgary shouldn't expect immediate point production from Olofsson or the picks, but this trade clearly signals a forward looking strategy for the organization.

Kadri has 12 goals, 29 assists, and 13 powerplay points in 61 games played as a forward. He also has 175 shots on goal, 37 hits, and 19 blocked shots.

Olofsson has 11 goals, 14 assists, and seven powerplay points in 60 games played as a forward. He also has 112 shots on goal, 13 hits, and 14 blocked shots.
