Week 2 FAAB: Which Players are Worth Spending Money On After One Game?

FAAB bidding can be the toughest part of fantasy football. Auction drafts follow the same logic of needing to budget, but that is all money that is spent at once, and you don't have to think much about the future. In FAAB, every dollar that you spend now is a dollar that you won't have to use later; it's a fine line between securing good players early and saving for a rainy day (or major injury).

Let's look at two players at each position who had good games in Week 1 and are hot names on the waiver wire. We will talk about whether they can be expected to repeat their big performances and give a reasonable FAAB bid for each. Your numbers may vary based on your budget and team needs, but these are good ranges after one week of football.

Quarterback

Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers

Young had a huge Week 1, throwing for 361 yards on 9.8 per attempt with three touchdowns and an interception. He added 10 yards and another score on the ground, making him QB3 on the week. The matchup against the Bears was fantastic, and Young took full advantage.

That might be his best game of the season, though, as things will get tougher right away against the Falcons, who just held Aaron Rodgers to a below-average 5.5 yards per pass attempt in Week 1. Young hasn't found big success often in his career, and I'm skeptical of expecting more big games, though his supporting cast is probably better now than it ever has been.

Recommended Bid: $1-3

Carson Wentz, Minnesota Vikings

If Kyler Murray comes back after suffering a concussion in the first quarter, then Wentz won't have any value. (Murray might be available in your league, and I'm interested in throwing a couple bucks at him if you can.) Wentz had a fine game in relief, throwing for three touchdowns and 133 yards on just 19 attempts.

The matchup is the real key to Week 2, as Minnesota faces the same Bears team that just allowed Young to go crazy in the opening game. Chicago looks like they are going to put up plenty of points, and that means opposing teams will have to throw to keep up. Matched up with a vulnerable pass defense, quarterbacks are likely going to put up numbers.

The issue with Wentz is that he is likely headed back to the bench when Murray returns, so don't spent more than a dollar or two on the backup QB.

Running Back

Kaelon Black, San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco surprisingly had a dominating performance at times against the Rams, allowing the team to run the ball and burn the clock. That led to Black getting 14 carries to just 10 for Christian McCaffrey. The veteran back will surely still lead the way most games, but there was some buzz around Black heading into the season, and the team showed they are comfortable giving him the ball while holding a lead.

There's also the issue of McCaffrey's health, as he has played single-digit games three times in his nine-year career and is 30 years old. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him miss a few games, and even if he doesn't, lessening his load is likely on San Fran's to-do list. Black will be part of the plan and have a chance to produce most weeks with big upside if McCaffrey misses time.

Recommended Bid: $5-7

Tyler Allgeier, Arizona Cardinals

Allgeier carried the ball 17 times to just 11 attempts for rookie Jeremiyah Love in Week 1 (and both players caught two passes). Love suffered a high-ankle sprain in the preseason, so the team might just be easing him in, but they also could be looking to not overwhelm a young player with touches, which would benefit Allgeier.

The ceiling here is lower than it is with an offense like San Francisco, but getting opportunities is half the battle in fantasy football. If Allgeier is going to keep touching the ball, he will have flex value against the right opponents, making him a player who should be owned in about every league. Worst case? Love takes over more of the load as the season goes along, and you eventually drop Allgeier when you need a guy once bye weeks start.

Recommended Bid: $3-6

Wide Receiver

Jalen Coker, Carolina Panthers

I pointed out Coker in our weekly preview on Friday given the positive matchup against the Bears. He did not disappoint, hauling in eight passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns, each number leading the team. His final game last year was a playoff loss to the Rams, and in that game, Coker finished with nine receptions, 134 yards, and a score; he's on a multi-game heater if you ignore the eight-month gap between games.

There is risk here, as Coker suffered an injury and was seen in a walking boot after the game, but reports say that it's just a precaution, and he won't miss any time. While Coker won't go for over 130 yards every game, he has shown to be a productive player and will surely get his chances. Coker is worthy of a roster spot in most leagues.

Recommended Bid: $4-6

Caleb Douglas, Miami Dolphins

Someone has to catch the ball in Miami. With a mix of unproven young players and uninspiring veterans, there were real questions as to who would emerge as the top pass catcher for the Dolphins. Douglas was the guy in Week 1, leading the team with five catches and 94 yards.

The third-round rookie had some buzz coming into the season, so it's not a surprise to see him produce. The Dolphins are likely to be a poor team, something that would require throwing the ball to catch up. Malik Willis is more dangerous with his legs than his arm, but he has shown that he can have success, and Douglas has a chance to be the guy to stand out from the crowd. He's an intriguing buy-low candidate.

Tight End

Kenyon Sadiq, New York Jets

While Sadiq had just three catches for 21 yards, he scored a touchdown on a three-yard rush attempt. That is encouraging because it means that he could touch the ball in multiple ways, and it makes sense that the team would look to get him involved after drafting him in the first round. On a team that suddenly has a lot of young playmakers, Sadiq could emerge as a top option eventually.

The Jets might not have a good offense right away, though, and that will hurt his numbers at times. New York has a tougher matchup against the Packers in Week 2, though T.J. Hockenson did have 36 yards and a touchdown against Green Bay on Sunday. Sadiq is an intriguing player to pick up, but he will be more of a guy to play with the matchups for now.

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

Johnson is coming off a career-best season, and he started 2026 on the right note, catching three passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Shough threw 56 passes, so you could argue that we would have hoped to see even more from the tight end, but Johnson did put up a few numbers. We will see more good games moving forward.

Johnson is another guy who will be more matchup-dependent, though, and New Orleans has a tougher game against the Ravens this week. While he will have his moments when he belongs in your lineup, Week 2 isn't likely to be a time to deploy Johnson with high confidence.
