Fantasy Football Week 13 Kicker Streamers: Wil Lutz, Chad Ryland, and More
Three kickers with good matchups in Week 18 who are widely available in fantasy leagues and can be picked up and inserted into your lineup.
For the second week in a row, many of our favorite targets aren't available to streamers. No teams are on bye, but instead, many of the worst defenses who give up the most points (like the Bengals and Cowboys) are playing against kickers who are already owned in fantasy leagues.
Baltimore's Tyler Loop faces Cincinnati this week, the team that has allowed more points than any other team. Loop is rightly owned in most leagues, so he doesn't qualify for the streaming list, even though he's a player anyone should be happy to pick up this week.
We had to go a little further down the list, but there are still guys who fit the streaming profile and have a chance at a good day. Kicker fantasy performance is so random that even if we don't get the best teams, we still might find the players who end up scoring the most points.
Let's look at three kickers with good matchups in Week 13 who are widely available in fantasy leagues and can be picked up and inserted into your lineup. Most stats are from NFL.com.
Use FantasySP's weekly projections to compare players and find those expected to perform best each week.
Zane Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons @ New York Jets
Gonzalez has now played three games for Atlanta after they cut Parker Romo, who had previously taken over for the disposed Younghoe Koo. Gonzalez has stabilized the position in his short time, making all six field goals and all six extra points he has attempted.
Atlanta doesn't have a great offense. They are tied for the sixth-fewest points per game (19.9) and are dealing with injuries to starters at quarterback, wide receiver, and offensive line. The Falcons are right in the middle in terms of both yards per pass attempt and rush attempt.
Gonzalez's spot here is more about his opponent than his offense, as the Jets have allowed the seventh-most points per game (26.5). New York also traded away their best defensive back (Sauce Gardner) and best defensive lineman (Quinnen Williams) at the deadline, so things could get even worse before the end of the year.
While I'm not big on using fantasy points allowed to kickers as a stat point (it's way too random), the Jets have given up more fantasy points per game to the position than any other team. This is a good place to find streamers each week, and Gonzalez should get in position to score points, though weather needs to be verified before game time since this one is in New York instead of Atlanta.
Wil Lutz, Denver Broncos @ Washington Commanders
Lutz is in his third season with Denver, making 88.6% of his field goals with the team and missing just two of 101 extra points. He has made around 86% of FGs and 98% of XPs in his career, a perfectly reasonable kicker in both real and fantasy football.
Denver's offense is very middling, ranking 16th in points per game and slightly above average in yards per rush attempt, but they are 30th in yards per pass attempt, struggling to move the ball through the air efficiently. Their defense is top-notch, but the Broncos could be held back by the offense in the playoffs.
That shouldn't be an issue in this game, as Washington has one of the worst defenses in football. They are giving up the fifth-most points per game, seventh-most yards per rush attempt, and a full yard per pass attempt more than anyone else; it's ugly.
That's good news for opposing fantasy players at every position, including kicker. Jayden Daniels is unlikely to return for this game, and Washington's offense will probably struggle hard against Denver's defense. If that's the case, the Broncos' offense could be set up in good position, leading to scoring chances.
Lutz is a strong streamer this week, though his schedule isn't very friendly the rest of the way, so he might only be a temporary option if you're streaming.
Chad Ryland, Arizona Cardinals @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
What is going on in Arizona? There are questions about Kyler Murray's future, and that has been exacerbated by the recent strong play of Jacoby Brissett. Brissett isn't the franchises future, but his success in contrast to Murray's struggles shows a concerning trend for the supposed franchise quarterback, who has never taken that next step to regularly above average.
Murray is on IR, and his return is uncertain, so the Cardinals probably actually have a better outlook than they would with their starter. Arizona has averaged 24.2 points per game with Brissett under center after averaging 20.6 in five games with Murray; this is currently a superior offensive team.
The matchup here is also very good, as the Bucs have allowed the eight-most points per game and the fifth-most yards per pass attempt. Teams have been able to move the ball and score often against Tampa Bay, like on Sunday night, when the Rams beat them 34-7.
Ryland has been OK, as he hasn't missed an extra point but is 17-21 on field goals. That's not terrible, but in a league where kickers can almost seem automatic, four missed kicks is something. He only missed four of 32 attempts last year, so Ryland needs to go on a streak to match that performance.
Ryland is a fine streamer given the matchup. He's not on the level of the top kickers, and the bottom could fall out any time if the volume stops, but this is a decent time to bet on Ryland.
