Fantasy Football Quarterback Waiver Wire Adds for Week 8: Jaxson Dart, Joe Flacco and More
Looking over some fantasy football waiver wire targets at quarterback going into week 8.
Week 7 still has a pair of Monday night games left, but for those looking for a jump on week 8 waiver wire pickups, we'll start breaking things down.
Here, I'll go over some quarterback options. Check back for more waiver articles!

Should You Add Jaxson Dart?
Dart was stellar in week 7, and despite his team blowing a big lead, he looked more than capable against a tough Denver defense.
He was 15-of-33 as a passer for 283 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Dart added 11 yards and a score on five carries.
Dart will look to keep things rolling in week 8 against the Eagles, who are a pretty average matchup on paper. He faced Philly a couple starts ago, throwing for 195 yards and a score on 17-of-25 passing, while rushing for 58 yards and a score on 13 attempts.
I'd be all-in on Dart at this point. His dual-threat ability makes him a good weekly option, regardless of his matchup. Dart has more tough matchups ahead, but after delivering against the Broncos, I'm not as worried about the rookie delivering for the long haul.
Get him added in any fantasy league and enjoy his NFL breakout.
Should You Add Matthew Stafford?
Stafford had a weird final line, but delivered a big fantasy score in week 7.
He was 21-of-33 passing for just 182 yards, but five touchdowns and no picks helped him post a huge fantasy score. Stafford rushed twice for an additional yard.
It was a nice bounceback performance for him, and with it happening without Puka Nacua in the lineup, it should ease the minds of fantasy owners of Stafford going forward. He's already owned in most leagues, but after another high-end finish, Stafford should get near 100% and be starting in more leagues starting with his next game.
LA is on a bye in week 8, so Stafford might end up at a lower own percentage than he was at this week. If you can afford to stash Stafford for a week, then I'd do it. He has a pretty average schedule ahead, so more average-or-better fantasy scores should be in the works.
Stafford should be starting in most deeper leagues, plus a lot of standard leagues every week, depending on his defensive matchup.
Should You Add Joe Flacco?
Flacco played back on Thursday, so some have forgotten about his fantasy performance already.
He was 31-of-47 passing for 342 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Flaccot added three rushing yards on five carries.
Flacco has found new life since joining the Bengals - who wouldn't when you get to throw to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins? With an improved fantasy outlook and a good schedule ahead, Flacco should be added in a ton of fantasy leagues this week.
He gets a pretty favorable matchup against the Jets in week 8, so there's a chance Flacco builds on his first two games with the team in that one.
He might be 40 years old, but there's still plenty of fantasy value left in him. I'd definitely give Flacco an add in deeper leagues, and think he could be a decent starting option in standard leagues for week 8, when six teams have their byes.
Should You Add Aaron Rodgers?
Rodgers was the other half of the Thursday night game, and he too performed pretty well.
He completed 23 of his 34 passes for 249 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. He ran once for six yards.
Rodgers will have an emotional matchup in week 8, as he takes on his former team, the Packers. Green Bay is a pretty average fantasy matchup for a quarterback at this point, so Rodgers is set up fairly well on a week where only 26 starting quarterbacks will be fantasy options.
These guys might not be the sexiest fantasy names, but they can still get the job done, and that's all that matters. Don't overlook veterans like Stafford, Flacco and Rodgers, as they can really help fantasy teams still.
I see Rodgers as a pretty solid deep-league option in week 8, while being an option in standard leagues too, depending on your other options and available pickups.
Should You Add Michael Penix?
Penix was underwhelming against on Sunday night, only completing 21 of his 38 passes for 241 yards, a score and no interceptions. He rushed for six yards on two carries.
He's been an up-and-down fantasy performer all season, and it makes it really tough to trust him from a fantasy perspective any given week.
In week 8, he has one of the top fantasy matchups a QB could have against the Dolphins. Most will be happy to try that matchup out, but I can tell you he won't rank super highly in my week 8 rankings.
He will be a decent deep-league option because of all the bye weeks and the favorable matchup, but that's where I'd stop thinking of playing Penix. I'd avoid him in standard leagues until he delivers more consistent fantasy results.
Maybe week 8 can be the first showing toward a brighter fantasy outlook for Penix.
Should You Add Justin Fields or Tyrod Taylor?
I'm listing both Jets' quarterbacks here because I don't know who the starter will be. Fields was benched this week, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got one more crack at things. If he doesn't start, Taylor should.
A favorable matchup against the Bengals is why the Jets' quarterback could be a waiver wire add or streaming option. They aren't nearly as favorable as the clash with the Dolphins, but it's still an above-average matchup for Fields or Taylor.
I'd prefer Fields over Taylor from a fantasy perspective, even though Fields has been awful the past couple games. His dual-threat ability is why I give him the edge, although Taylor can do a bit of that as well.
Neither will be very confident standard league options, and I'd really prefer to only start them each in a deeper league. They will each be pretty solid deep-league options because of the favorable matchup though.
Should You Add Spencer Rattler?
Rattler didn't have a very good showing on Sunday, but he's got another pretty nice matchup on deck.
He was 20-of-32 passing for 233 yards and two scores, but he threw three interceptions. Rattler had 12 rushing yards on two carries.
Rattler has been a bit better fantasy asset than many people think so far, but he's still pretty below average too. It's why he's not rostered in many leagues, and why he's starting in so few.
He will be taking on the Buccaneers in week 8, who are a pretty similar matchup to the Bengals. Rattler might seem like the more confident play than Fields or Taylor, but after his week 7 showing, I'm not going to have Rattler ranked very highly even in his good matchup.
Should You Add C.J. Stroud or Sam Darnold?
Stroud and Darnold each play on Monday night, so you'll have to watch that game, or check back to FantasySP in the morning for our takeaway story on things.
Stroud had been trending up prior to this week, so we'll see if that continues on Monday. He will take on the Niners in week 8.
Darnold has been a sneaky-good fantasy asset most of the season, but has a very tough matchup on Monday night. If he delivers in that matchup, he could be added in just about every fantasy league before week 8. He has his bye week after tonight, so that could slow his own percentage some.
San Fran will be a below-average matchup for Stroud next week, but it's not terribly lower than average. So as long as he looks good on Monday, he should get some more waiver love going into week 8.
As for Darnold and how to approach him on his bye week, it's similar to Stafford. If you have a roster spot to play with, he's a fine guy to add-and-stash for a week, especially if you haven't been getting consistent fantasy QB production this season.
Don't forget about those two guys, and be watching closely tonight to see if they emerge as a top-end waiver add before week 8.
