Rush Street Interactive is the parent company of BetRivers. Once the Supreme Court ruled to enable states other than Nevada to start offering legal sports betting in May of 2018, Rush Street was poised and positioned well to get into online sports betting. At the end of December 2018, Rivers Casino Pittsburgh opened its brand new brick-and-mortar sportsbook, as well as the launch of its legal online sportsbook. BetRivers Sportsbook Pennsylvania soon followed in June of 2019.

No matter where you access BetRivers from either on a desktop or the mobile app, the books operate just about the same in all respects. The only differences are due to the regulations of the state. These are the most significant differences between the operator from state to state.
- Bettors can wager on award shows such as the Oscars in Indiana, unlike bettors in other states.
- Colorado residents cannot make prop bets on college sports.
- No bets can be made on in-state colleges in Illinois.
- eSports betting is not allowed in any of the states where BetRivers is active.
- New Yorkers are not permitted to wager on in-state, New York-based colleges or any college contest hosted in New York (even if no New York colleges are participating). That said, BetRivers makes up for it by allowing one exception: wagers can be placed on the NCAA Tournament and other tournaments so long as no New York Teams are participating.
BetRivers In Ontario
Before 2021, Canadians were limited to far-fetched parlays on a few more sports. However, the Canadian government passed legislation in 2021 that allowed provinces to legalize and regulate sports betting at their own discretion. Ontario realized the benefits of legalizing sports betting and was quick to allow outside sportsbooks to do business in the province rather than keeping the existing government lottery sports betting monopoly. Once again, BetRivers is one of the smaller sportsbooks & casinos in the industry at the moment. For that reason, their “welcome” first-deposit match is capped at $250. In comparison, we’ve seen sportsbooks like DraftKings and Fanduel offer up to $1,000 in first-deposit matches and similar promotions. This isn’t an issue for smaller bettors who won’t deposit more than $100 or $200, because the deposit they planned to make no matter what will be matched. This promotion might be more of concern to high-rollers, who are ready to deposit $1,000+ into their new account. However, I’d prefer a free $250 over Caesar’s $1,000 risk-free bet for first-time users. Anytime a sportsbook promises free credit, that’s a huge perk. The site is user-friendly and very informative on desktops. Even though the mobile app may look funky on mobile devices, it is fully operational.

One of the talking points for BetRivers is that they are a smaller casino and therefore can provide customer support on a much more personal level than the major sportsbooks.
