Waiver Wire Targets Week 4
Welcome to the start of bye weeks! Now is the time to snatch some hot players who are available and will be good enough to fill in for a week. The season goes by so quickly and some fantasy teams are falling apart at this point. Week four is here and its time to see what some new guys have to offer.
Let's just get the hottest pickup of the week out of the way, none other than Baker Mayfield. Mayfield took the field on Thursday night and gave the Cleveland Browns their first win in a very, very long time! Baker looked calm and very tuned in from the moment he was on the field. He threw for 201 yards and completed 17 out of 23 passes, not too shabby! The upside to Mayfield is limitless and you should grab him if you have the chance. He is owned in 13% of leagues and was started in 8%, obviously his start percentage will increase now that he has been named the official start for week four.
The Atlanta Falcons didn't have much to complain about for their rookie wide receiver Calvin Ridley who tore it up on Sunday! Ridley hauled in three touchdowns and had 146 yards on the day. Matt Ryan has three solid guys to throw to now, and Ridley's value skyrocketed after the game. He is already owned in 55% of leagues and being started in 32%. I will be hoping to add him to my bench this week and look forward to playing him!
Tyler Boyd over with the Cincinnati Bengals is clearly the number three receiver on the team, but can easily move into the number two slot if A.J. Green is sidelined. Boyd had an impressive week two and week three he kept moving in the right direction with 132 yards and a touchdown from Andy Dalton. Look for Boyd to be picked up heavily this week with all the uncertainty with Green. Boyd is owned in 37% of leagues and being started in 34%.
Here's a name that might surprise people as a week four pickup, Jordy Nelson. Nelson is a Raider now and his fantasy value was very questionable at the start of the season. A new team with a new coach and injuries over the past couple of seasons left room for lots of speculation. Nelson is owned in more leagues than other pickups but he is still available. His starting percentage is a mere 14% and he is owned in 62% of leagues. Nelson had 173 yards with a touchdown on Sunday.
Running back Javorius Allen is a must add to your fantasy team at this point. He is owned in 56% and being started in 33% of leagues. He keeps showing his worth to the Ravens even if he doesn't have over 100 yards a game. He managed to have two touchdowns on Sunday against the Denver Broncos and that's not an easy thing to accomplish. He upside is he keeps making his way into the endzone, downside is not too many yards. Hopefully he can pick up some traction on the ground and add some yardage to his touchdowns.
This weeks waiver wire pickups are a mixture of new hot players and a few oldies that have value. Enjoy week four!
