Fantasy Baseball ADP Risers Over Past Week: Trevor Story, Dansby Swanson, Cody Bellinger and More

As the MLB season gets closer and closer, more and more fantasy baseball leagues will conduct their drafts. Once that happens, the data for the FantasySP Average Draft Position starts to get really refined.

As February wraps up, I wanted to take a peek at the ADP list and highlight some risers over the past seven days.

ADP Risers

Boston Red Sox’s Trevor Story is among the biggest risers, going 38.67 picks earlier than he had been previously. 

Story has played just 137 games over the past two seasons. He’s got a .227 average and .287 on-base percentage over that span.

While those numbers aren’t pretty at all, he’s not a bad draft option because he’ll be hitting in the heart of the Red Sox lineup. Most of his fantasy production will likely come by way of RBIs and extra-base hits - for going around pick 160 in drafts, you take what you can get.

Milwaukee Brewers’ Jackson Chourio is another riser, going 30.75 picks higher than previously. His ADP mark is 166.75 right now.

Chourio is the No. 2 prospect in baseball and is projected to make the team out of training camp. We can only speculate what he can do in the big leagues based on what he’s done in the minors - he hits for a strong average, with plenty of pop in his bat, and he’s also going to steal a bunch of bases.

I expect Chourio’s ADP to keep improving as the season approaches, and if he makes the team, then that number will skyrocket.

Texas Rangers’ Nathaniel Lowe is another riser, up 21.17 spots from his previous mark. His ADP is 168.5 right now.

Lowe had far too low an ADP before this and probably still does based on his past production. His average dropped 40 points last season, but his on-base percentage stayed the same and he finished with more RBIs and runs scored.

Even hitting in the bottom half of the loaded Rangers’ lineup, Lowe has the chance to put up big numbers. If he even improves his average to his career mark of .273, you’ve got yourself a steal at his current ADP.

Miami Marlins’ Jazz Chisholm Jr. is another big riser, up 15.69 spots to 132.19 overall.

He’s pretty consistently hit .250 for Miami, but durability has been an issue the past couple seasons. If he can continue at his current averages for anywhere close to a full season, this will be a big-time draft steal.

Chicago Cubs’ Dansby Swanson jumped 13.66 spots to 146.09 in the latest ADP rankings.

Swanson had a rough go of things in his first season with Chicago, hitting for a .244 average. His runs, hits, doubles, homers, RBIs and stolen bases all decreased from his final season with the Atlanta Braves. Granted, the Atlanta lineup is better top to bottom, which helps every hitter out, but Swanson is due for a bounceback season.

Another interesting name that’s jumped up a bit is Miami’s Luis Arraez. He’s up 10.43 spots to 66 overall.

Arraez was simply going too late in drafts before this. He hit .354 last season, and while a bit of a dropoff should be expected, he plays enough and simply provides great fantasy value for wherever you might land him. This is probably the ADP that he’ll stick around for most of draft season.

Cubs’ Cody Bellinger got a little 8.05 pick boost after re-signing with Chicago.

It’s always tough for fantasy owners to draft players not currently on a roster, but now that we know where he’ll be, you can confidently take Bellinger in drafts. I expect his ADP to keep improving as the season approaches.

Colorado Rockies’ Nolan Jones is a guy I’ve talked about a bunch this late winter/early spring. He’s one of my favorite value picks, and it appears to be a theme, as he’s up 8.49 spots to 130.35 overall.

Jones would likely be going far earlier in drafts if he had gotten in close to a full season in 2023. His 162-game averages are fantastic, and hitting in Colorado gives him another fantasy boost. It’s also possible Jones has position versatility in your league, which should make him that much more valuable.

Washington Nationals’ Lane Thomas is another later pick that I absolutely love. 

Across 156 games last season, Thomas had a .268 average, 28 homers, 86 RBIs, 20 stolen bases and 101 runs scored. That’s a great all-around season and I still think he’s going too late in drafts. Expect to see his ADP mark improve as the season approaches.
