Outlook Jacob Gonzalez
Rookie Jacob Gonzalez Sparks White Sox Infield Following Call-Up
Since his promotion to replace the injured Munetaka Murakami, rookie Jacob Gonzalez has hit .300 with his first career home run over his first seven games. He joins a second-place White Sox club currently sitting at 34-31 in the AL Central. With Murakami sidelined, Gonzalez has carved out a regular role in the Chicago infield, showcasing the skills that made him a first-round selection.
Though his seven-game sample is small, Gonzalez's early success is backed by an outstanding Triple-A run where he batted .308 with 18 homers. His .391 on-base percentage is highly encouraging, and his minor league pedigree suggests the power is real. While regression is inevitable, he looks like a highly sustainable rest-of-season asset.
The White Sox have a six-game home slate this week against Atlanta and the Dodgers. Gonzalez faces tough matchups against Chris Sale (2.23 ERA) and Yoshinobu Yamamoto (2.68 ERA), though Grant Holmes and Emmet Sheehan offer softer landings. Due to the overall difficulty of these matchups, he is a bench stash for now. Verdict: Hold.

Outlook Maxwell Muncy
Maxwell Muncy remains sidelined with a hand fracture but approaches a mid-June return window
Maxwell Muncy has not played recently while recovering from a fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand, an injury that has kept him out since late April. The third-place Athletics (31-34) have had to adapt, deploying Zack Gelof as the primary option at third base in Muncy's absence.
Prior to landing on the injured list, the 23-year-old infielder was batting .239 with two home runs over 26 games. Our models project a solid .250 average with eight home runs and five steals the rest of the way, which would represent a nice step forward from his .214 rookie campaign in 2025.
The Athletics are scheduled for six home games this week against the Brewers and Rockies. However, because Muncy is still completing his rehabilitation and targets a mid-June return, fantasy managers must leave him on the bench or in an IL slot for now. Verdict: Sit.
