After taking a look at the fantasy football panic meter for week 2, let's now go over some of the surprising fantasy performances and determine if they were breakout showings or flukes.

We'll look at two quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends.

Runnings Backs

Javonte Williams (again) and Rhamondre Stevenson are the two backs I want to discuss after week 2.

Williams was great in week 1, but two touchdowns really boosted his fantasy score. He was even better in week 2, rushing for 97 yards and a score on 19 attempts, and catching six of his seven targets for an additional 33 yards.

Now, he was playing the Giants' defense, so his numbers likely won't be this good the rest of the season, but he remained heavily involved offensively and is the clear leader in the Cowboys' backfield.

That alone is enough to believe in Williams, at least for the time being. I'd keep riding with him until further notice.

The Bears are the next team Williams will face, and Chicago has allowed the second-most fantasy points per game to backs through two weeks. That means Williams will rank pretty highly going into the week, and gives him another chance to deliver another big fantasy score.

I'm not all-in on Williams for the rest of the season, but for now, I'm rolling with him.

Stevenson surprised in week 2, rushing for 54 yards on 11 carries and catching all five of his targets for an additional 88 yards. He had 15 rushing yards on seven carries, while adding 12 receiving yards on two catches and three targets in week 1.

He played 65% of the offensive snaps in week 2, which was way more than TreVeyon Henderson (32%).

It's possible this was just a one-week fluke, but with Stevenson delivering in his touches this week, I doubt he'll disappear from the offensive gameplan. He'll at least be worth considering in deeper leagues for the coming week.

A clash against the Steelers in week 3 is a chance for Stevenson and Henderson to deliver, as Pittsburgh has given up over 20 fantasy points per game to backs so far.

Wide Receivers

Rome Odunze and Troy Franklin are the two wideouts we will talk about this week.

Odunze posted a big showing in week 2 despite the Bears getting blown out. He had 128 yards and two scores across seven catches and 11 targets. Odunze had 37 yards and a score over six catches and nine targets in week 1.

He's played 97% of the team's offensive snaps so far, and has been heavily involved. I don't love this offense, but how can you ignore Odunze?

I believe he's here to stay and is enjoying a breakout season in the NFL. He could continue to outplay D.J. Moore and others, so I'd get him on my team before it's too late.

Odunze has a super favorable matchup against the Cowboys in week 3, so I fully expect him to keep his early-season success rolling.

Franklin tallied 89 yards and a score on eight grabs and nine targets last week. He also rushed once for 11 yards. Franklin was solid in week 1, posting 44 yards on four catches and six targets.

He's played just 69% of the team's offensive snaps so far, but was up to 83% on Sunday. Franklin is definitely trending up, but I'm not all-in on him yet.

Cortland Sutton is still the top wideout in Denver, and Marvin Mims will challenge Franklin for the No. 2 role. Tight end Evan Engram hasn't gotten rolling yet either, so there could be future weeks where Franklin isn't very involved.

I like adding Franklin in deeper leagues, but I'm not super high on him as a standard league asset yet. A week 3 challenge against the Chargers isn't favorable, and it makes Franklin just an OK starting option in deeper leagues, and someone to avoid in standard setups.

Tight Ends

Tucker Kraft and Zach Ertz are the two tight ends worth discussing after week 2. Both those guys played way back on Thursday.

Kraft went for 124 yards and a score across six catches and seven targets. He had 16 yards and a score on two grabs and four targets in week 1, while also rushing for three yards.

Kraft has played 91% of the team's offensive snaps so far, and looks like the team's best pass catcher so far. There's a ton of other options, but the multi-week injury for Jayden Reed should allow Kraft to remain heavily involved.

I'd buy into the Packers' tight end before it's too late, because I only see his fantasy value rising from here. Week 3 is a tougher test against the Browns, but I'm not betting against Kraft after what he's done through two weeks.

Ertz went for 64 yards and a score on six catches and eight targets back on Thursday. He had 26 yards and a score across three receptions and five targets in week 1.

He's unlikely to keep scoring once a game, but on an offense lacking a ton of proven playmakers, the veteran TE could be a sneaky good fantasy option all season. The injury concern for Jayden Daniels definitely throws a wrench in things though.

I like Ertz as a waiver wire pickup this week, and as a streaming option, even in matchups that aren't so favorable. He gets the Raiders in week 3 - they've shut down opposing TEs so far, but haven't played anyone too good yet either.

Quarterbacks

Russell Wilson and Daniel Jones (again) are the quarterbacks we'll discuss here.

Wilson bought himself another week as the Giants' starting quarterback when he threw for 450 yards and three scores in an overtime loss to the Cowboys. Wilson did throw a pick, but 23 rushing yards helped negate that a bit.

Wilson isn't going to be that type of fantasy quarterback every week, but this performance showed he still has a little something to give. In the right matchups, it's not crazy to consider streaming him, especially with some quarterback injuries piling up around the league.

A week 3 matchup against the Chiefs is a chance for Wilson to deliver another good fantasy score, as KC has allowed opposing QBs to score about 20 points a game so far. The game flow should also work in Wilson's favor, he just needs to avoid turnovers.

Jones has been probably the biggest fantasy surprise through two weeks.

He threw for 316 yards and a score on Sunday to help the Colts win and improve to 2-0. Jones avoided a pick and rushed for another score to add more fantasy points.

In week 1, Jones had 272 passing yards, a touchdown and no picks. He rushed for 26 yards and two scores.

He's been stellar to open his Colts' tenure. Might this be the move that ignites his career?

Week 3 could go a long way in determining his future, both this season, and in the long haul. He'll take on a Titans' defense that's surrendered just over 12 points a game to fantasy QBs so far. This will be Jones' toughest test yet, but after delivering against a good Denver defense, he's a bit more trustworthy as a fantasy asset.

If he delivers against the Titans, then I'll be closer to all-in with Jones. I'm not sure if I'll ever fully get there because of his past.
