Trent Re-Signs with Milwaukee

Gary Trent Jr. signed a massive four-year extension with the Bucks - it's worth $64 million.

He's been in Milwaukee the past two years. Trent averaged 21.2 minutes per game over his 21 starts and 65 total games last year. He also averaged 8.1 points, 1.2 assists, 1 rebound and 0.5 steals a contest.

That's a lot of money being spent on a player who didn't produce very much last season. Trent has had better seasons in the past, and the Bucks could be hoping for more in the coming years.

Trent looks like a reserve guard or forward option going into the coming year. Ryan Rollins and Tyler Herro are the projected starting guards, while Jaime Jaquez Jr. is the projected small forward. Trent could start and then one of those guys could come off the bench.

Paying him that much, I'd expect Trent to play a notable role for the coming year. If he plays enough minutes, he should have some fantasy value. We'll have to wait and see how much he's playing and producing before we can call him more than a deep-league fantasy asset.

The Bucks may have lost Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason, but they've done a nice job of adding pieces to the roster this offseason, and with more picks and development, the Bucks could get back in the playoff picture soon enough.

Kyle Kuzma and Myles Turner are the other two projected starters. Kevin Porter Jr., rookies Brayden Burries and Nate Ament, Ousmane Dieng, Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, Jericho Sims, Caris LeVert and now Trent are the projected reserves.

There's some talent on the roster, and if some of the young guys excel early on, the Bucks could surprise and maybe push for a playoff spot. I see them being a bigger contender in the years to come.

Denver Signs Diallo

The Nuggets have signed Alpha Diallo to a one-year deal worth $1.4 million.

He will be playing in the NBA for the first time. Diallo was the EuroLeague Defender of the Year.

The forward has been a solid player overseas, so we'll see what he can do in the NBA. Diallo looks like forward depth at this point.

Denver has Cameron Johnson, Peyton Watson (maybe), Julian Strawther, Spencer Jones, Aaron Gordon and others as forward options. Diallo could carve out a decent role, and if Watson isn't retained, his role could be pretty big.

Right now, Diallo is just a deep-league fantasy asset, but if he plays and produces enough, he could sneak into some standard leagues. He'll be one to keep tabs on as the next season begins.

Wembanyama Extends with Spurs

Victor Wembanyama signed a five-year extension with San Antonio worth $252 million. It has a player option for the fifth season. Wemby took less than he could have, so the Spurs could spend elsewhere and keep building up a potential dynasty.

San Antonio made the NBA Finals this past season, and now with Wemby locked in long term, the Spurs looked locked and loaded for the long haul.

Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell are a couple young pieces the Spurs will want to return. De'Aaron Fox and Tobias Harris are the other projected starters alongside Wemby. Dylan Harper is a projected reserve that will need to get paid eventually too.

Throw in role players and future draft picks and the Spurs will need money to spend. Wemby taking less with this deal doesn't impact his fantasy outlook directly, but money to spend elsewhere means his teammates will be better in the long haul, and that should help Wembanyama be a high-end fantasy asset for years and years to come.

Expect the Spurs to remain a big-time contender for as long as Wemby is around. They could be the next dynasty in the NBA.

Adebayo/Herro Altercation

The other big NBA news over the weekend was a physical altercation between Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, who were former teammates with Miami.

Reportedly, Herro made comments about Adebayo on social media that the Miami big man didn't like. Adebayo approached Herro and struck him in the head area.

There is sure to be an investigation, and there could be discipline handed down at some point. It could keep one or both players out at the start of the coming season, so keep tabs on the situation, but it shouldn't affect their seasons too much.
