The NBA Cup Final is tonight, and the game doesn't count for fantasy basketball purposes, so we'll instead enjoy the game a bit more by putting together a DFS lineup for the contest.

Let's see what six-player lineup I can come up with for the contest between the Spurs and Knicks. I have a $50,000 budget and have five flex spots and a captain (who scores 1.5 times more, but also costs 1.5 times more).

Check out daily fantasy basketball projections on FantasySP all season!

Captain - OG Anunoby ($10,500)

I wanted to save some money to go big with my flex spots, so I settled on Anunoby as the captain.

He's averaging 31.5 fantasy points per game this season, and is coming off a 45-point showing a couple days ago. His matchup is tougher, but I see him stuffing the stat sheet and being a great captain for this DFS squad.

Ideally, Anunoby is among the top-scoring fantasy assets for the Knicks tonight. If he ends up leading the team, or scoring the most fantasy points in the game overall, my chances with this DFS squad will skyrocket.

Flex - Victor Wembanyama ($11,600)

Wemby returned to the court for the first time in about a month in the team's Cup Semifinal game on December 13. He provided 22 points, nine rebounds, two assists and blocks and a steal over 21 minutes off the bench.

Wembanyama might come off the bench again tonight, but I see him playing a bit more. He still was great on a minute restriction last game, so he was a must-add to this lineup.

It made sense to skip him in the captain spot because of his high salary, but also because of the possible minute restriction, and possibly coming off the bench again.

Flex - Jalen Brunson ($10,600)

Brunson starred for the Knicks in the team's last game. He had 40 points, eight assists, four rebounds and a steal over 39 minutes.

He's averaging 44.5 fantasy points per game this season, and has over 40 fantasy points in five straight contests.

Brunson actually has a pretty favorable matchup tonight, so I'm expecting another monster fantasy outing. He gets the nod over Karl-Anthony Towns because of the matchups each player faces. Let's hope Brunson rewards me with a huge fantasy score.

Flex - Harrison Barnes ($5,600)

Barnes is a cheap option, but a pretty solid one for this DFS lineup.

He's averaging 23.9 fantasy points per game on the season, and has 22 or more in three straight. Even with Wemby back for the last game, Barnes provided six points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals over 27 minutes.

I think he will do a bit more in this contest, but I'd also be happy with a repeat of his last game. That well-rounded effort works just as well as a game he'd score a bunch of points in.

Flex - Julian Champagnie ($4,400)

Champagnie is a big-time way to save with this DFS lineup.

He's averaging 23.8 fantasy points per game this season, so there's a lot of bang for my buck here. Champagnie has scored 18 or more fantasy points in six straight contests, and I'd take that again tonight.

Champagnie scored 18 fantasy points (three points, eight rebounds, two assists and one block over 27 minutes) in the team's Cup Semifinal game. I'd take that again tonight, but obviously am hoping for a little more.

Flex - Devin Vassell ($6,800)

I saved enough to make one final splash, and I decided on Vassell with the final lineup spot.

He's averaging 28.2 fantasy points per contest, and tallied 40.8 in his last game. Vassell played 32 minutes in that one, recording 23 points, five rebounds, four assists and one block and steal.

He's been between 13.5-40.8 points over his past four contests, so I'm hoping for a big showing tonight, not a dud. His matchup is just below average, so I'm expecting something in the middle of that wide range of fantasy points.

Final Thoughts

I always think these fantasy basketball DFS lineups are tougher to put together than a fantasy football lineup. I like the final look of this lineup though.

All my lineup choices average 20+ fantasy points per game, and if they all reach that mark, I'll be set up well for success.

I need Wembanyama and Brunson to star like they normally do, plus Anunoby to go off. Getting 140+ fantasy points from them is what I'm hoping for.

Then I need Barnes, Champagnie and Vassell to go for around 75 or so points and I should be in the upper echelon of things with this DFS squad.

There's a ton of players I skipped, including Towns, De'Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart) so there's changes you can make if you don't like my lineup.

Best of luck with your DFS lineups tonight!
