Should You Add Cason Wallace?
Wallace is up 3.43% today and sits at 57.46% overall. Wallace and the Thunder played on Tuesday night, earning a 125-124 overtime win over the Rockets.
He ended up playing nearly 42 minutes, and he stuffed the stat sheet. Wallace tallied 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. He was 5-of-10 on his field goals and made 3-of-8 from 3-point land. Wallace made one of his two free throws, turned the ball over twice and committed three fouls.
Wallace isn't a big name on OKC's star-studded attack, but he can still deliver showings like this from time to time. He averaged 8.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.5 blocks over 27.6 minutes in 68 games last season.
Playing more minutes in the opener helped him deliver better results, and not having Jalen Williams or Isaiah Joe around for this game helped his cause too.
I'm not saying that Wallace is going to lose all his fantasy value in a non-overtime game where the team is healthy, but his averages will be lower than he delivered in the opener.
It's fine to add and utilize him in some standard leagues for the time being, but he'll be a better deep-league option most nights this season.
Should You Add Jonathan Kuminga?
Kuminga got a 6.5% bump so far, and is rostered in 69.4% of leagues overall. He helped the Warriors to a 119-109 win over the Lakers on Tuesday.
He played just under 33 minutes after starting for Golden State. Kuminga had 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists and one steal. He was 6-of-11 from the floor, while making four of his six 3-pointers and one of his two free throws. Kuminga had two turnovers and three fouls.
It was a great start to the season for Kuminga, who averaged 15.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.4 blocks across 24.3 minutes in 47 games played last season.
His numbers were much better on Tuesday, but in more minutes, that makes sense. Golden State is down Moses Moody and De'Anthony Melton, but neither of those guys should eat into Kuminga's minutes in a big way when they are back.
Everyone has been waiting for Kuminga to break out, and maybe Tuesday was the first step in that process. I thought Kuminga was a bit overlooked as a fantasy asset coming into the season, so it's no surprise to see him as the most-added player today. That could be the case for several days.
Kuminga definitely needs to be rostered in all deeper leagues, and I think he's already worth a standard league add. This is one of those situations where you could miss out on him if you don't add him now, so get it done today before he's scooped up.
Kuminga could be a high-end fantasy performer this season, and you want those guys rounding out your lineup/roster.
Should You Add Steven Adams?
Adams is owned in 22.39% of leagues after a 4.65% increase.
Adams started and played 36 minutes for the Rockets on Tuesday. He had just four points, but also tallied 13 rebounds and three assists.
Adams made just one of his four field goals - he was perfect on two free throw attempts. He turned the ball over three times and was called for four fouls.
Despite not scoring much, Adams showed his fantasy upside with all those rebounds. He averaged 3.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.5 blocks and 0.4 steals across 13.7 minutes in 58 games played last season.
If he sticks as a starter, or even just plays 20-something minutes, his fantasy value will be way higher. There's a few Rockets who missed Tuesday's game, but I don't see any of them cutting into Adams' minutes all that much.
Adams could be a sneaky good fantasy asset for those of you in deeper leagues this season. He's worth adding in a few more leagues, and he needs to be watched closely to see if his minutes and production keep up early on.
If they do, then he can be added in most deeper leagues. I don't see him getting into standard leagues ever, but don't dismiss the veteran big man in deeper setups.
Should You Add Jay Huff?
Huff is up 4.6% and is rostered in 18.66% of leagues now.
The Indiana big man has his first game on Thursday against the Thunder, so he's on the rise before even taking the floor.
Huff looks like he'll be the backup center for the Pacers, who are a much different looking team than the last time we saw them playing. He and Isaiah Jackson will get the first crack at the center minutes after the departure of Myles Turner.
There's a chance Huff starts, or plays enough minutes as a reserve to have fantasy value, so I get why deep-league fantasy owners are adding him today. He'll be a name to keep an eye on early in the season, starting with Thursday's game.
If he starts producing right away, his own percentage could shoot up, so if you aren't ready to add him in deeper leagues today, be ready to pounce if he contributes in a big way on Thursday.
Should You Add Khris Middleton?
Middleton was added in 4.4% of leagues, bringing his overall mark up to 25.37%. He opens his season on Wednesday, taking on his old team, the Bucks.
Across 22.8 minutes in just 37 games last season, Middleton averaged 11.9 points, 4.1 assists, 3.7 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.2 blocks. The biggest thing working against him is availability, but he looks good to go, at least early in the season.
Bilal Coulibaly is out with a thumb injury to start the season, so Middleton could have a bit bigger role to begin the season. I'd expect him to start for an otherwise pretty young Washington squad.
There's no star on the team, so putting up averages close to last season seems possible for Middleton. If he averages more minutes, Middleton could deliver sneaky good fantasy results.
As long as he's active and healthy, he's worth some deep-league fantasy usage. I don't see him getting back into standard leagues, but you never know. He's at least worth tracking early in the season.
Should You Add Collin Sexton?
Sexton is rostered in 66.42% of leagues after he was added in 4.32% of leagues. He'll get his season started Wednesday, when the Hornets play the Nets.
In 63 games and across 27.9 minutes a game with Utah last season, Sexton averaged 18.4 points, 4.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.1 blocks.
Charlotte isn't dealing with any injuries to start the season, and that could mean Sexton opens the season as a reserve. There still should be enough minutes available for him to deliver for fantasy owners.
I do think he's a bit overvalued right now, but his usage and production early on could change my mind on that. I'd really only want to roster him in deeper leagues until we see his role and fantasy production.
If he's averaging close to last season's numbers, then he can be added in even more standard leagues. I don't see him getting there unless a starting guard is out for the Hornets, so I actually see his own percentage dropping as the season gets rolling.
