Underdog Fantasy NBA Basketball Pick 'Em Plays 01/03: Giannis Antetkounmpo, Jayson Tatum & More!

Mark Morales-Smith Jan 3rd 10:17 AM EST.

Underdog is back with their Pick ‘Em bets for the NBA season. We will be going over the best bets for tonight and help give you the edge to make some money this and every Tuesday night. This should be a fun slate of games so let’s take advantage of some great odds.

Underdog Fantasy NBA Props To Target

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics (42.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists)

This article will be very Celtics heavy, so we’ll start by diving into the defensive matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. They aren’t a horrible defense, but they certainly aren’t a scary defense to target for bets like these. They are allowing the sixth-most points per game this season with 116.8. When it comes to allowing assists they rank 12th in the NBA allowing 25 per game.

However, rebounds are where this matchup gets really juicy. No team is allowing more rebounds per game this season than the Thunder. They are allowing 56.3 rebounds per game to their opponents. They are dead last in both offensive and defensive rebounds allowed. They also rank last in rebounding percentage. Teams feast on the boards when they play the Thunder; we plan to take full advantage of that tonight.

Tatum actually hasn’t hit this line in his last two games but had hit it four in a row before that and in five of his last six games. His averages on the season come out to over 43 total points + assists + rebounds per game this year and he should get back to his averages tonight in this matchup. His three-point shooting is what has been holding him back hitting just three of 15 over the past two games. His season average is 35% so he won’t continue to struggle like that forever. Look for him to break out tonight and light up the box scores.

The Pick: Higher 42.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Marcus Smart, Boston Celtics (11.5 Points)

We are not quite as high on Smart’s likelihood of hitting his points line tonight. Despite a solid matchup we still don’t think he gets to 12 points tonight. He’s only averaging 11.2 points per game on the season and has hit this mark just once in the past five games. Lately, he’s been more of a distributor piling up assists, but the points just haven’t been there. Sure, he’s capable of getting hot and draining a few threes, and topping this number. However, the odds say he won’t get there so we’re going to take the under here.

The Pick: Lower 11.5 Points

Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics (37.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists)

We already went over all the numbers with this matchup, and we expect Brown to take full advantage just like we did Tatum. This number is just below Brown’s season averages which lands him at 37.8 points+ rebounds + assists but well below what he’s been putting up lately. He has cleared this line in five straight games and there is no reason to believe he’ll slow down tonight against Oklahoma City. His numbers across the board have gotten better each month of the season as it’s gone on. Look for him to continue piling up numbers and stuffing the stat sheet tonight.

The Pick: Higher 37.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists

Giannis Antetokounmpo (45.5 Points + Rebounds)

Tonight, Giannis matches up against the Washington Wizards. They are a middle-of-the-road defense, ranked 12th in the league in defensive rating and 14th in points allowed per game. They are an above-average rebounding team, nevertheless, we are far past the point with him that the opponent really matters unless it’s truly a standout matchup. Giannis is going to do what he wants against the vast majority of the league and that’s exactly what he’s been doing as of late. Even more than usual.

Over the past two games he has scored 88 points and ripped down a ridiculous 42 rebounds. That’s 130 total points and rebounds over two games or 65 points and rebounds per game. He has scored more than 40 points alone in four of his last six games and hit double-digit rebounds in five of his last six while grabbing 20 rebounds twice during that span. His season averages land him at 43.9 points and rebounds per game; that number has jumped to 44.4 over the past month. It’s hard to imagine betting against Giannis right now. He’s playing out of his mind, and you have to roll with the hot hand.

The Pick: Higher 45.5 Points + Rebounds
