Jake Mangum's red-hot average and elite speed make him a priority lineup option as he anchors the Pirates' outfield.

Jake Mangum is swinging a blistering bat, hitting .349 over his last 14 days and securing an everyday starting role in center field with Oneil Cruz sidelined. He has provided a critical offensive spark for the fourth-place Pirates (39-39) as they look to climb the NL Central standings.

While his outstanding .317 batting average is bound to regress closer to our projected .272 season mark, his elite speed is completely legitimate. Having already swiped 13 bases this year after a 27-steal campaign in 2025, his baseline running game remains a highly sustainable fantasy asset.

Pittsburgh has a six-game homestand against Seattle and Cincinnati. While matchups against tough arms like Bryce Miller (1.58 ERA) will limit his upside, Mangum should easily exploit high-ratio pitchers like Brady Singer (5.32 ERA) to generate cheap runs and stolen bases. Start him with confidence.
