Outlook Mickey Gasper
Part-time utility role limits Mickey Gasper's fantasy viability despite a seven-game week.
Mickey Gasper has cooled off recently, batting just .182 over his last 14 days as the last-place Red Sox (29-40) continue to fall behind in the AL East. While outfielder Roman Anthony's wrist injury initially opened up at-bats for Gasper, he remains a reserve option on the depth chart at catcher, first base, and designated hitter.
Over his last 21 games, Gasper has posted a .239 average with zero home runs. While his current .274 average this season is a significant step up from his poor career .158 mark, our models expect him to regress toward a .200 average over the rest of the season with very little power output.
Boston has seven games scheduled this week, featuring matchups against Toronto and Seattle. Gasper could see starts against struggling pitchers like Max Scherzer (10.23 ERA), but must also navigate tough aces like Bryce Miller (1.54 ERA). Because of his limited and unpredictable playing time, he is a weekly Sit.
