Buried on Depth Chart, Farrell Remains a Deep Tight End Insurance Policy
Operating as a depth option in San Francisco, Luke Farrell enters the season buried on the tight end depth chart. He sits behind locked-in starter George Kittle and backup Jake Tonges, leaving him with limited immediate paths to fantasy relevance. In his first season with the 49ers last year, Farrell managed just 12 receptions for 88 yards, though he did find the end zone twice.
Our projections don't anticipate a major breakout, forecasting him for 6 receptions and 59 yards over the course of the season. With a microscopic ownership rate hovering around five percent and zero percent of managers starting him, he remains strictly a dynasty-league stash or a desperation insurance policy should Kittle miss extended time.
From a draft market perspective, Farrell's ADP saw a temporary spike up to 288 in early June but has since plummeted and stabilized at 399.
