Crosby Traded to Ravens

The blockbuster deal over the weekend was Maxx Crosby being traded from the Raiders to the Ravens. Baltimore sent first-round picks in 2026 and 2027 back to Las Vegas in the deal.

The 28-year-old Crosby has 69.5 sacks over his seven-year and 110-game career. He had 10 sacks over 15 games in 2025.

Crosby adds a much-needed pass rusher to the Baltimore defense. He should thrive, especially with more defensive talent around him. If Crosby stays healthy, he could contend for the Defensive Player of the Year honor, and he obviously will be a good IDP option.

Las Vegas came out with a nice return, but are obviously worse off without Crosby. Now pass rusher is a need for the Raiders. We'll see what they do with their extra pick, and if the team can take a step forward in 2026

Mixon Released by Texans

Running back Joe Mixon was released by Houston, which opens $8 million in cap space.

Mixon missed the entire 2025 season with an injury, and after Houston traded for David Montgomery, it was assumed that Mixon would be released.

Mixon is 29 years old, and if he can prove he's past his injury concern, he could have a couple more seasons left in him. He's likely a better No. 2 RB now, but could still be a fantasy asset if he lands on the right team.

After adding Montgomery, and still having Woody Marks, the Texans are still solid at the RB spot. I wouldn't be shocked if they added outside help to the position, but I expect Marks and Montgomery to power the RB position for the team next season.

Packers, Colts Swap Defensive Players

Indianapolis sent Zaire Franklin to Green Bay in exchange for Colby Wooden.

Franklin is a 29-year-old linebacker. He has played eight years in the NFL, and finished with 100 or more combined tackles in four straight campaigns. He adds on a few sacks and other splash plays to be a solid IDP option.

Wooden is a 25-year-old defensive lineman. In three seasons, he has amassed 87 combined tackles, but just 0.5 sacks and not many other notable stats.

Franklin is the better fantasy asset, and could thrive in the middle of Green Bay's defense, especially if Quay Walker doesn't return (which he likely won't now). Defensive linemen are a priority now, and they already were before this deal.

Wooden might have a hard time starting on the line in Indy with the guys the team already has around. Teams don't trade for players for no reason though, so we'll see if the deal helps Wooden's fantasy outlook. Linebacker is now a need for the Colts.

Packers Also Ship Gary Out

Green Bay made another move on Monday morning, trading Rashan Gary to Dallas for a 2027 fourth-round pick.

The 28-year-old Gary has 46.5 sacks over his seven-year career in Green Bay, and never got to 10 sacks in a single season. He had 7.5 sacks and 45 combined tackles over 16 games in 2025.

It will be interesting to see how he fits in in Dallas. He's making too much money to be a reserve pass rusher, so I'd expect him to play a bunch. His IDP outlook is OK, and we'll have to wait and see if his outlook improves with his new team.

Pass rusher is now a need for the Packers, as they need a running mate for Micah Parsons. After these two trades, the Packers are likely going to be focused heavily on defense in the NFL draft and free agency.

Jets Land Fitzpatrick

Another trade that went down on Monday morning was the Jets acquiring Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins. Miami gets a 2026 seventh-round pick in return. Fitzpatrick signed a new three-year deal with the Jets worth $40 million after the deal.

The 29-year-old safety has played in the NFL for eight years now. He had 82 combined tackles over 14 games last season, and has been near or over 100 tackles in several seasons.

He will boost a Jets' defense looking to improve. The offense might not be great in New York, but the Jets are sneakily becoming a potentially above-average defense, and that could help lead the organization toward a brighter future.

Miami didn't get a great return for Fitzpatrick, and now safety help is on the offseason list. Miami looks destined for a rebuild after letting go of several big-time players this offseason (Tyreek Hill and Tua Tagovailoa among them).

Bears Release Edmunds

Chicago released Tremaine Edmunds, which clears $15 million in cap space.

He has 100 or more combined tackles in all eight seasons in his NFL career, so he will be a sought-after free agent. Edmunds also has nine interceptions over the past three years, so that adds to his IDP value.

I'd expect him to be a decent IDP option wherever he lands, but landing inside a good defense could help Edmunds be a sneaky-good IDP option for 2026 and beyond.

The Bears have some linebackers on the roster still, but I'd be surprised if they don't add to that position this offseason.

Washington Drops Lattimore

The Commanders decided to move on from Marshon Lattimore, which cleared $18.5 million in cap space.

The 29-year-old cornerback is a four-time Pro Bowler, but he's really struggled with injuries of late. Lattimore has played in nine games in back-to-back seasons, and no more than 10 games since 2021.

Lattimore should get some interest in free agency, but his best days are likely behind him, so he's just a depth option at CB for teams nowadays. He can be a decent fantasy IDP when healthy, but coming off injury-riddled seasons, he's a risky pick/roster option.

Washington will likely add some CBs in free agency or through the NFL draft this offseason.

Other Released Players

I'm going to run through a bunch of other released players over the past couple days. I won't go into detail about the moves, but at least wanted to mention them as free agency starts up.

Miami also cut kicker Jason Sanders and fullback Alec Ingold, saving about $6.91 million in cap space.

Buffalo dropped wide receiver Curtis Samuel, which saves $6 million in cap space.

Taylor Decker, an offensive tackle, was released by Detroit. The move saves $11.6 million in cap space.

The Raiders released Alex Cappa, an offensive guard. The move saves Las Vegas $5 million in cap space.

The New York Giants released offensive tackle James Hudson. The move frees up $5.38 million in cap space.

Dalvin Tomlinson, a defensive tackle, was released by the Cardinals. The move saves Arizona $9.4 million.

Buffalo announced they were releasing Taron Johnson and Dane Jackson, moves that would save the team about $4.275 million. Johnson was reportedly dealt to the Raiders in a trade instead. The Raiders got a seventh-round pick and Johnson, while sending a sixth-round pick back to Buffalo.
