Fantasy Football Week 3 Kicker Streamers: Parker Romo, Matt Prater, and More
Three kickers with good matchups in Week 3 who are widely available in fantasy leagues.
The fantasy kicker position is usually filled in one of two ways: either the owner puts in time to investigate the matchup, the offense, the weather, etc. to get the best possible player, or the owner grabs someone at the last minute without any research, following what the platform says is best.
The sad part is that it's a 50/50 proposition as to who picks the guy that scores more fantasy points. The fantasy kicker world is finnicky, and a player who leads the group one week might be anonymous for the next month; there's a lot of guesswork.
The best you can do is find a good matchup, throw your guy in, and hope for the best. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, but you can't stress yourself too much on something that you can't predict. Decide and move on.
Let's look at three kickers who are probably free agents in your fantasy league and have good matchups in Week 3. These are guys who are good streaming options for the week, but a couple of them might even turn into longer-term solutions.

Andy Borregales, New England Patriots vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Borregales was listed here last week with a good matchup against the Dolphins. He made both of his field goals (22 and 53 yards) but missed two of his three extra points. That's after he missed a field goal attempt in Week 1; Borregales better not make a habit of missing kicks each week or he won't be around long.
The matchup here is in his favor again. The Steelers allowed 400 total yards and 32 points to the Jets in Week 1 then another 400 yards and 30 points to the Bills in Week 2. Pittsburgh has been vulnerable against both a good and a possibly sub-par offense.
The Patriots put up 33 points in Week 2 after they were held down in the first game (just 13 points against the Raiders). The matchup here is another good one, and New England has the chance to rack up points again. Borregales will get more kicking opportunities; he just needs to make them count.
Matt Prater, Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins
Speaking of the Dolphins, they face the Bills in Week 3, a team that has averaged over 35 points per game. With Miami struggling hard on defense, this one has a chance to get ugly early with Buffalo taking control. That would put Buffalo's kicker in position to score fantasy points.
Prater sprang back into our consciousness by kicking a game-winning field goal in Week 1, alerting the world to the fact that Tyler Bass began the year on IR. Prater's ownership rate saw a spike, but he is still a free agent in about 75% of leagues.
Other than just the matchup, Prater is worthy of a spot in someone's lineup each week simply by being the Bills' kicker. Buffalo scores as much as any other team in the league, so their kickers are in position to score often.
In Week 2, Prater made all three of his extra points and all three of his field goal attempts (from 28, 33, and 52 yards). He was a successful kicker in the past and hasn't missed with the Bills; he has proven his worth for a fantasy spot. Unless you have a weekly starter who you aren't benching, like Dallas' Brandon Aubrey, you should consider picking up Prater.
Note that this game is on Thursday night, so you need to make the move early if you're going to pick up Prater, either on waivers or soon after.
Parker Romo, Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers
Carolina has one of the worst defenses in the league. They gave up 26 points to Jacksonville in Week 1 and 27 to the Cardinals in Week 2; those aren't astronomical numbers, but they are sizeable totals to middling offenses. Those teams combined to kick six field goals against the Panthers.
Romo took over for Younghoe Koo after the latter missed a game-tying 44-yard field goal attempt in Week 1. Koo had a rough 2024, and apparently, the team had a short leash or saw something during practice and made the move.
Koo might not get his job back any time soon: Romo made all five of his field goal attempts (29, 33, 33, 38, and 54 yards) and his one extra point. They weren't hard kicks, but Romo was on, so it wouldn't make sense to go back to Koo unless they just wanted to give the starter a week off to clear his head.
If Romo is indeed the kicker again, he has a great matchup here and is coming off a day where he made six kicks, so the team will likely have confidence to send him out there. He's a relevant fantasy player coming off a big performance.
